The ADA responded to the Stacey / My Plate video. And wow! To quote the infamous Nurse Patsy: “Carbs is yer brain food!” The brain doesn’t need carbohydrates. The brain needs glucose at about 83mg/dL which the body has no problem making without consuming carbs. Heck, we can eat

Saying switching from refined carbohydrates to whole grains is good for diabetes is like saying going from unfiltered cigarettes to filtered cigarettes is good for emphysema, bronchitis and lung cancer.

405lb deadlift. 2.5x my bodyweight. I’m 44 years old, and a type 1 diabetic. I fuel myself with a low carb, protein focused diet, and have done so for 15 years. Blood sugars flat and stable in the non-diabetic range before, during, and after workouts. Last a1c 4.6%.

The ADA's 2024 standards of care for diabetes mention GPL1 drugs 169 times. But dietary therapies barely get a whisper... Keto comes up a mere 4 times, low carbohydrate 15 times. This is the same for other diets too (vegan is mentioned 2 times, vegetarian 7 times, low fat 10

Type 1 diabetics can have normal & non-diabetic blood sugars. My morning looked like this: 5:30 Wake up, coffee 6:30 CrossFit 8:00 Breakfast (eggs, beef) & NovolinR insulin for the protein. It’s now 11:15 and my blood sugar is 86mg/dL & will stay stable like this all day

These are terrible guidelines. 7% is a high a1c. Diabetic complications are already occurring in this range. Diabetics deserve normal and non-diabetic blood sugars and A1cs.

My a1c today. 4.5%. This puts my average glucose at about 83mg/dL. Which is the normal, and non-diabetic range. Most endos and CDEs advocate for A1cs that have blood sugars much more than double this for much of the time. Absolutely insane. @DikemanDave

Diabetics can have normal numbers on holidays like today on Thanksgiving. For me just a small, brief bump. Ate protein focused and low carb and maintained normal and non diabetic numbers.

My Quarantine A1c. A marker that looks at glycation of red blood cells & gives a rough 3 month assessment. <5.7 is considered non-diabetic. The American Diabetes Association recommends diabetic aim for less than 7% a1c, which is very high & well within the range of complications

What carb addiction looks like... This guy is a T1 diabetic and endocrinologist. He's had and talked about multiple diabetic complications, yet continues to pour the worst foods for diabetes down his gullet and promote this for other diabetics.
