So looks like #medtwitter are now turning on pharmacists… I get how shit it is to be a doctor right now, but I don’t think any group is having a whole bunch of fun. But maybe, just maybe, it’s better if we don’t turn on each other and actually, oh I dunno, support each other?

@mikeysmith We said this. Instead I went home, stripped in the hallway, put clothes that I’d worn to/from work into sealed box and scrubbed myself in the shower before I would let my boyfriend near me. We were all terrified of giving it to anyone at home and followed rules to the letter 🤬

@Microbedoc2 I’m a nurse and I’m really happy for you guys that you got what looks like a decent starting offer (?)… I’m upset that our union and some members wouldn’t fight harder for what we deserve- but I’m not upset at doctors. I don’t understand why some nurses would be 🤷🏻‍♀️

@EmergMedDr I’m a band 7 cancer CNS, and I absolutely would not be comfortable using a PA as a resource. These patients are highly highly complex and need a highly experienced and trained oncologist looking after them.

Got shouted at by a GP today. I know you’re under a lot of pressure and severely understaffed, but when I call (rather than email) as I want to find out how to do something for a mutual patient the safest way to ensure probably less work for you overall, shouting at me is not it

I am sorry but this is going too far. Regardless of what you think about PAs (not getting into that argument), to advise people NOT to take their sick child to a children’s hospital is just downright dangerous!

@mlkytee It’s not the individual ward nurses ‘fault’ it’s the trust… so for example I could cannulate/take blood in one trust, moved to another 5 miles down the road, can’t do it 🤷🏻‍♀️ told to do the course (even though I’d done it in the other trust) in own time- not a chance.

Really? Maybe she’d like to spend some time talking to nurses and drs I worked with through both lockdowns and see what they (and I) think… So far from reality it’s unreal. And incredibly upsetting and offensive to say so.

@elsalwilliams My uncle had bone cancer and nearly had to have his leg amputated, can’t walk without support and leg binder. Got asked if he could plan a route from his house to the assessment- he said yes, told doesn’t have support needs… he can plan the route just not walk it 🤦🏻‍♀️

@DrJessa For staffing, whether a nurse can do cannulas and bloods is not one of the things they look at… this is an additional role that some nurses take on. Plus the nurses are probably as busy as you, so it’s not a high priority for them 🤷🏻‍♀️Talk to management rather than moan on Twitter

@CatrionaRennis1 Wow 🙄 my trust offers ‘well-being’ stuff that happens during office hours in a room that’s a good walk away from clinical areas… so no one clinical can go unless you’re willing to give up your break… therefore stopping exactly the people it’s aimed at from going 🤦🏻‍♀️

@ShaunLintern Isn’t that the point? Too important to strike but not enough to pay properly? I will be striking. During covid we weren’t 1:1… The Drs came to support and managers helped too. Can’t rely on nurses goodwill forever 🤷🏻‍♀️

@jade_w08 I booked annual leave from a Monday and they put me on a Sunday night shift, said that Monday counts as a day off so therefore didnt see the issue. I said absolutely not I’ve worked 8 hours… made them take me off the night shift and change my shifts to days

So happy that we discharged a patient from Worthing ITU who had been on the unit for 32 days to the ward yesterday... no videos but we clapped her down the unit. The hard work is worth it for moments like that. #COVID__19 #worthit #Corona @WSHT_ICU @westernsussex

@LeanneHPatrick The conversations I’ve had with my boyfriend about whether I ‘sound’ ill enough, and the nerves of calling in are like nothing else 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s so ridiculous. I’m an adult and clearly can tell if I’m ill or not but it’s the feeling of letting people down and/or leaving them short.

Just want to say thank you so much to the @SECAmbulance call handler and the paramedics from last night… they dealt with a slightly hysterical girlfriend (me) and a boyfriend who turned out to be absolutely fine, with calmness, kindness and compassion. Cannot fault them 🙏🏻

@drjanaway Eurgh. Horrible message. Should be promoting how we work together as part of an mdt, and we have different skill sets that compliment each other. That makes nursing seem more appealing surely- which is what I think they’re trying to say?!

Strike day 1. But my whole trust isn’t, despite them reaching the 50% required. They’re not striking because the decision was made that not every trust would strike at once… to keep patients safe. But that doesn’t make a good headline. Solidarity with those that are today ❤️

@rosieICM My MIL told my niece, (in front of me, a nurse) aged 4, who was dressed up as a Dr that she couldn’t be a Dr as she’s a girl, and that girls are nurses 🤦🏻‍♀️ I was so shocked at the sexism!! Plus does she think I’m ‘only’ a nurse because I’m female and not that I chose it?

In recent months Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Paramedics and Nurses have had their roles critiqued and explained to them by doctors on here. There's never any data or evidence to support their criticisms. And each attack frightens patients who worry about who they can trust.

Just had the BEST meal @EtchFood … 9 course and wine pairing was honestly insane! I’m a little bit full now 🐷🍷also (finally) had the pleasure of talking to @stevenXedwards -such a nice guy. Decided I want to quit nursing and become a sommelier 😂

@C_Kneer Absolutely. They did mine (or attempted to) with just paracetamol… they were shocked when I couldn’t bear the pain and said the same to me. Offered local anaesthetic which I declined and asked for an anaesthetic- lots of sighing etc ensued but eventually agreed. Awful

@ShaunLintern It’s awful. I’m a pancreatic cancer CNS. we are having to tell patients to reduce how much they take with each meal. Patients are cutting down on what they eat to try and make their supply last longer and are losing weight. They’re terrified and there’s nothing we can do to help

@HelenRSalisbury @trishgreenhalgh @wesstreeting Please don’t lump PAs in with paramedic/nurse/pharmacist… they are all degree educated in their specific field and highly regulated, unlike PAs. Also, they all bring different skills and so sometimes it’s better for the patient to see them.

I know in the grand scheme of things this really isn’t important..BUT. I’m knackered from working in ITU, and tired of all the PPE I have to wear. I want a night out where I can get dressed up, eat amazing food. I miss @EtchFood @stevenXedwards and their menu. From this to this!

@Robbi_K_ It’s difficult, like I get how tough primary care is now I really do, so I was trying to do everything I could to give them the least amount of work, while making sure the patient is safe. I maybe could have done things differently, but shouting is still not the answer

@BMA_James_Steen @DrLindaDykes @RobSetters @ITVWales Also- some couldn’t afford to strike, some didn’t believe strike was right due to pt safety (didn’t have same support from seniors as drs), and some were apathetic. I was for striking. Also the messages weren’t clear and once it was recommended to take the offer that was it done

@MedRegoncall1 So no blame with the ST3 who saw her twice? You cannot put all the blame solely on the nurses, it’s a much bigger issue than that. And frankly trying put the blame just on the nurses is very much an us vs them attitude which isn’t helpful

@Dr_BellaR But ask the nurses isn’t about telling you how to do your job, it’s about asking an experienced member of the team who has been on the ward potentially for years and has a lot of experience in whatever area it is about what normally works/doesn’t work
