Jonathan @Freedland on Melting Point: 'I think non-fiction will be different as a result. That's a big claim, but I think people will try and copy this as a style." For obvious reasons I very much enjoyed this interview on Unholy - thank you @Freedland @LeviYonit

5 years ago I learnt my great-grandfather led 10,000 Russian Jews to Galveston, Texas – a story forgotten by my family and the world. It was surreal and wonderful to talk about it with @biannagolodryga , who left the former Soviet Union as a child and immigrated to... Galveston.

Things that helped me write my book, in case they help you write yours. Will keep adding! 1. Constant variation. Sentence length, paragraph length, atmosphere (aka vibe shifts). Came back to this quote so often 👇

"The thing [Stephen Sondheim] always...stressed was variety, variety, variety, variety, variety. When you're dealing with a constant rhythm, no matter how great your lyrics are, if you don't switch it up...they're going to stop listening..."

Scrivener is incredible for this – a writing app that lets you divide your work into scenes, moments in those scenes etc, which you can click and drag to reorder. Feels like printing it all out and laying it on the floor, but if I did that I would lose the bits of paper :(
