@metaplexmovies This suggests that all a director does is come up with zany shots. They’re also the guardian of tone and say what you like about Barbie it undeniably treads a high wire act pretty impeccably in that regard.

@davidehrlich It’s kinda nutty but you try mounting a camera and lens inside a motorcycle helmet visor then driving down a street lamp lit street and not getting a mess of camera shadow all over the actor’s face. Fincher wanted a shot that despite looking photorealistic couldn’t be filmed.

@strangeharbors The Creator may have been a complete bust but it did have the success of costing 1/3rd of a Marvels whilst looking twice the price. The main difference being that Marvel would’ve spent the additional $170m to insert a ‘functional’ story, after the fact.

@jbromovies Ghostbusters 2. Weaver & Murray are both back but have split up, off-screen. Such a tedious trope - the film makers not knowing how to cope without replicating the meet-cute/flirtation of the first film just because it was a popular element.

@titusjoelbanks Mmm… the Academy loves nothing more than when an actress ‘de-glams’ for a roll. The frumpy hair and the padded gut - ‘SO BRAVE!’ The bigger awards season circuit story for that film was easily Ke Huy Quan’s ‘actor who came in from the cold’ narrative.

@Bjorksbxtch It's not lit like a film from the era it's depicting. There's an approach to the lighting that's more contemporary and I'd imagine there was an advantage to using a digital sensor's greater sensitivity, compared to a 500 asa film stock. Cheaper/faster to light that way too.
