The spin from Democrats is that Biden boxed Trump in. Trump’s team is gloating that Biden actually fell into their trap. The latest in Playbook:

I'm sure the Iranians are worried about limiting the range of these systems, for fear of provoking the West. "Ukrainian officials also say Tehran has agreed to supply two types of ballistic missiles—with ranges of 180 miles and 430 miles—to Moscow."

If Suleimani had conducted operation killing 600 European soldiers, continent would be up in arms (if it had any). U.S. wld swing into action. European intellectuals are free to criticize us (thanks to world America built!), but it’d be nice if we started w/ some solidarity. 3/3

Now that we're re-investigating CoVid origin, Biden's going to make good on this line from last year's Dem primary debates, right? Biden: "And here’s the deal, I would be on the phone with China and making it clear: We are going to need to be in your country ... (1/2)

The best case scenario for ⁦ @wmata ⁩ of late? Look at those wait times. And I’m not even going to get into the year they shut down my station. You’d think they would’ve seized on CoVid to iron out any problems. Nope: the DMV has one of worst subway systems in its peer class.

My take: Europeans agree U.S. is great ally today but perennially fret abt future American isolationism (that never materializes). Americans agree Europe ignores hard power today which Euros counter by promising future rearmament (that never materializes). That’s the rub.

The annual MSC is also always a partnership meter for transatlantic relations. This year, the American delegation is larger than ever. Democrats but also Republicans praise the relationship with the Europeans in the high terms, also off the main stage. 1

The Baltics look at French op in eastern Med through one lens: does it constrain or strengthen Putin? Answer: 1. It is aimed at Turkey, which is working to check Russia. 2. It risks NATO, which is a non-starter. And all this preceded by uncoordinated French overtures to Moscow.

France has repeatedly shown its solidarity with Baltic states by deploying there military means. Maybe, the same solidarity should be extended in the Mediterranean Sea? To Greece.

At Kyiv’s train station: train routes for future free Ukraine. That victory is in no small part up to the U.S. & allies. With our support, Ukraine can defeat Russia. But that requires change in attitude: we must empower Ukraine, not constrain it. 1/2 |
