My prom date in 2003. It was pretty rough. I was awkward. She was out of my league. I’m a bad dancer and was self-conscious about it then. After this date we didn’t see each other for 10+ years. Anyway yesterday was our 5-year wedding anniversary and she’s awesome. Life is crazy

You, six weeks ago: those Levitical laws on impurity and contagions are so barbaric! Have a heart! You, today: now if a person tests positive for Corona, he shall remain unclean all the days of his infection. He is unclean. He shall live alone. His dwelling is outside the camp.

My wife miscarried a few days ago. In the subsequent confusion, sadness, and worry about her health, I simply didn't know what to pray. It was then that I was comforted by Paul's assurance that the Spirit helps us in our weakness, interceding on our behalf with unutterable groans

Quick thread on why you should read 1 Samuel in GREEK. In 1 Sam 13.14, God is about to choose a king. You’ve probably heard it said that he sought “a man after his own heart.” Look, we’ve all been there. But think again bub. In Greek it’s “he sought a man with a beard.” fin/

Jesus and Paul are so different I can't get over it. One consistently used agricultural metaphors, announced God's kingdom wherever he went, taught that love of neighbor was the fulfillment of the Law, and elevated women to unprecedented heights. And the other was crucified.

You, an intellectual: "Sin" is a social construct designed by the powerful to shame the weak into maintenance of the status quo. Paul, frequently imprisoned, beaten by authorities, covered with scars, to the Corinthians: "Sober up and stop sinning. I say this to your shame."

psa for lots of (mostly Xian) readers of the NT: vast majority of the time it's not sin to contract impurity. Jesus eating with sinners may mean he contracts impurity - but that's not sin. he's not flouting food or purity laws. Jesus touching a leper is not "breaking the law."
