Democracy is when you elect councillors, MPPs and MPs to make decisions on your behalf. Not when 5 people in a trench coat of a “residents association” try to take your entire community hostage because they have free time and resources.

Are these jersey barriers, sign + concrete block kind of overkill for a 2 table patio on a low traffic street in Kensington market?

Toronto is still doing this. See the "West Parkdale Cycling Connections" project where cyclists are expected to maze through neighbourhoods. Most riders would not follow this route and will continue to bike on the dangerous section of Queen St./Queensway.

I made a video in May counting the number of bikes vs cars on Bloor. My comments got filled with people telling me that no one bikes for 6 months of the year. I just took a new video in February to prove my point. Cycling solves congestion year round!

If I moved into an apartment at Queen and Gladstone I would simply not complain about the hotel/bar across the street from me potentially having a patio, but that's just me. It's up to staff (and now council) to rightly dismiss the complaints as nonsensical.

Of these options, I think 2B is best. It connects to Sheppard West, and adds E/W redundancy to take pressure off Line 2 and Line 1 shutdowns. Having the interchange station at Scarborough Centre is far more practical given the planned development around the station.

@zd_jones If they are really all because of previous admins underfunding and new enhanced inspections and SOGR work, mayor and council should communicate that. Should prioritize work to repair and get rid of slow zones as fast as possible. Could be treated like they are treating gardiner.

The funny thing is opponents to Kensington Market pedestrianization cited "becoming/gentrifying like Yorkville" as a reason to not pedestrianize. However, Yorkville isn't even pedestrianized.

Bikeshare proves the importance of network redundancy. This is a map of trips taken from bike share stations. That large dot is showing number of rides near Jane station (terminus of fire shutdown). Also, why the Bloor West bike lanes are valuable!

Ford recently said that he believed in "letting municipalities decide what is good for their communities" with regards to not allowing 4-plexes as of right, and is now doing the opposite with jurisdictional overreach on bike lanes. His only loyalty is to car-dependent sprawl.

Too many drivers across Ontario are stuck in gridlock for hours every day and bike lanes are making things worse. Next week, we’re introducing legislation that would require cities to get provincial approval for any new bike lanes that require removing a lane of traffic.

Q3 Update. The city is proposing 7.2km of new bike lanes for the quarter, along with the 8km on Eglinton going to council this week. This brings the 2024 total to 22.5km. So far, nothing has changed with the glacial pace of new safe infrastructure from Tory to @MayorOliviaChow .

For those keeping track, this is 5.8km of new lanes for Q2. This along with the 1.5km of new lanes in Q1, brings the total new lanes for the first half of 2024 to 7.3km. Keep in mind, in 2014, @MayorOliviaChow campaigned on 50km of new lanes per year.

There seems to be a curb placed in the bikelane at Adelaide and York. I assume this project isn't complete, and is meant to calm left hand turns from vehicles. Right now many cyclists are diverting around into mixed traffic and it's dangerous.
