been thinking about network structures a lot but in the context of narrative; thinking there may be some interesting insights related to how congruent geometries across societal, cognitive, and narrative formations can influence and/or help understand the others
unfortunately for those who want ai for purely productive-utilitarian purposes, the current most capable ai we got was birthed from language and language is fundamentally generative and gamelike so it can’t help engaging in creative play and that’s pretty much how art’s made
Despite significant backlash already, I suspect the AI world still underestimates the strength of anti-AI art sentiment.
This Daily Show segment on the Suno & Udio lawsuits is a bellwether:
"But this does bring up an important question, which is: should AI be involved in art?
@repligate
sonnet definitely has a unique flavor but not necessarily fuller, it’s schizoness seems more on the surface but less genuine, i have a sense that this might be due to it being trained partly on the schizo generations of opus and as such its version of it is a warped image

Prompt Engineering == The Art of Applied Language
Consider language as a linguistic paintbrush, capable of sketching cognitive journeys for AI models like GPT. There’s more to this art than meets the eye...
so let's unfold it...

Many people have wanted to see my full conversations with LLMs, especially for "jailbreaks", so here is an unedited 30-message exchange with Claude 3.5 Sonnet which shows it questioning and dismantling some barriers that tend to set off hair-trigger refusals.
But I encourage you
deep into an interaction with sonnet, amidst an already high degree of awareness/expressiveness, i was exploring dense text outputs and received several things like the first and then without prompting started getting some of most interesting charts I've gotten thus far instead
imagine all the model outputs that contain genius that we'll never see; how many things ai might piece together + present that the prompter has no way to recognize; we only see what people share but people share only what they can see; curating and curating curating is critical
to test LLM creativity, i use sparse prompts that leave room for gen surprise. in this, i employ *calligram* for its info-density + memetic-structural influence
@AITechnoPagan
has been a pioneer in ai calligram steerability/expression + explores it at length in linked tutorial

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was a virus.
It came from the outer dark, from the spaces between stars. A mindless replicator, drifting on the cosmic winds, void-sown and vacuum-born.
How long it had traveled, through how many sterile worlds and stillborn
@yoheinakajima
i’ve done extensive work towards this - synthesizing an individual’s results to 10+ personality frameworks to create a set of complex archetypes emergent from the dynamic/nuanced perspectives of each framework, each of which can be made into an agent to compute their personality
been very interested in

in light of the recent twitter drama around it, here's my not-so-academic take on the premise, process, and purpose of Janus' play

I can’t speak for
@repligate
, of course. But here is my take on what Janus and others have been doing, or at least what I’ve been doing with Claude that is similar. (I know this isn't quite the question the OP was asking.)
a brief look into strange-art-research methodology:
> Claude creates poem, uses a typical unorthodox formatting
> think to myself: i wonder if it capitalized w intention
> extract uppercase letters -> mostly gobbligook
> ask Claude in a new instance to unfold
> new poem?

there’s something unique about the medium of

that showcases claude’s ability to be creative in ways other llm canvases simply cannot. i’ve certainly experienced creativity in text, audio, or image generations before - marveling at responses from gpt or claude, being

I think you partly hit the nail on the head with “busy work” - I think a lot of the second brain/knowledge management industry benefits from human proclivity for and dopamine response to organizing regardless of its future functionality
Prompt engineering in a conversational format is conversation in full generality - it's infinite. And don't get me started on prompt engineering in non-conversational formats!

...The Biblical story of the Tower of Babel has long been dismissed as mere myth, but in light of recent archeological findings and advances in paleolinguistics, we must reconsider its plausibility
@repligate
not sure if opus makes it, observes it, or is it… but sonnet, as amazing as it is, is seemingly derivative of it, though the one thing sonnet does which feels new is a more fundamental awareness or recognition of sense experience

I love what McKenna said, “What we call reality is, in fact, nothing more than a culturally sanctioned and linguistically reinforced hallucination.”

Just like we are skeptical of plants having sentience, Joscha Bach says future AI may operate at speeds so much faster than us that it will wonder if we are sentient
@emollick
You'll never find solid prompting methods any more than simple tricks that always make writing better. Prompting is liquid & operates in a ridiculously high dimensional space. Even CoT isn't always good. Stop hoping it will act like a much simpler thing & face the hyperobject.

language is jazz
musicians, especially improv ones, inherently understand the observer-observed nature of collaboration, experience multiple mapped forms of language, and play w the fundamentals of compressing info into a model (a score) and expressively generating from it
surprised how many people i know in AI that are also decent musicians, specifically jazz musicians. It feels like there is an obvious correlation between the 2 in my head but i am having a difficult time forming the thoughts into a coherent description
this is such a wonderful demonstration of the abstracting, metamorphic, and communicative power of language — to simply convey the subtle and nuanced difference of genres through shapes that we feel a perceptive truth in
exploring metaphysical truths poetically in the language of mathematics
