I think an underrated risk of trans rights being threatened in the US is that it sets a precedent I think a lot of countries have positions that are mostly just variance on top of the US' or an EU-subset's positions. Shifting the US' position would result in shifting here too

Part of the reason I oppose the medicalization of transness is how it makes people believe their gender is somehow beyond their control - that transness is a "condition" and HRT a "treatment." In reality, there is nothing to being trans beyond desire, and HRT is merely a tool.
