#DAT I never use dialogue tags like "said." I use physical cues and quotation marks to make it clear when someone is speaking. This is due to my neurospiciness, because I love deep POV and seeing words like "said" pull me right out. Oddly, People either don't notice or hate it.🤷🏻‍♀️

#DAT I think ableism has influenced that more than anything--because so many people find my heart disease "unbelievable" I have to do a lot of "telling." To balance the explainy bits, I try to show the pain of *having* to explain in order to be believed. #RareDiseases

#DAT My female MC is a master bladesmith! I am an apprentice blacksmith and have dabbled in bladesmithing as well. I've done both old-timey and modern blacksmithing, which are quite different and both a lot of fun. I love for my MC's knowledge to be a plot point.

#DAT If everyone had my heart condition, everything would be quieter because there would be a requirement to be under non-startling decibel levels. AEDs would be universal and not just in one building, but in every room. Stress and emotional management would be respected.

#DAT My disability is a war. Fighting the physical constraints, poverty, the bureaucracy, and ableism. I'm not sure if I'm winning or losing, or how long I have left... but I will meet it on the battlefield. And I will not go down without a fight.

#DAT I do enjoy editing, because that's when you get to read your story and start tweaking it into a beautiful shape. In editing, I try to drill down into the emotional moments which means I will keep thinking until something makes me cringe. Gotta nail that tension!

#DAT When we first meet Kyrie, she's a street fighter/thief. I imagine her in a big, adventurous city like Colombia or Lima, where the cultures are more laid back and people bet and bargain in the street. I think they would speak Spanish and probably be questioning her faith.

#DAT More than just focusing on my disability, I'd love to look at marketing through an intersectional lens. The theme of embodiment comes up a lot in my books, which frequently overlaps with LGBTQ+ and disability, deepening the themes themselves. Marketing could be similar.
