My theory on Genesis: - 3AC bought GBTC hoping to sell at premium after 6-month lock-up - got tons of leverage from Genesis, with the purchased GBTC shares as collateral - premium goes to discount (and other things), 3AC defaults - Genesis stuck with $1bn of GTBC it can't sell
