The only reporter in my county. Basketball coach. Also a restaurant manager🤷♀️. Opinions are my own and are subject to change as I learn new information.
Today was haunting.
First, I had to return the call about setting up a dinner for after the funeral this weekend.
I know this customer for a long time. She and her husband are almost 90. Their daughter just died suddenly. She was in her 60s.
@Broken_Devotion
Airport lounge. Both parents into their phones. Little girl, maybe 5 or6, dances. Stays out of everyone’s way, and just… dances. Pirouettes and all.
Mom finally looks up, calls her over, smacks her behind, and says “no one wants to see you dance.”
Broke my heart.
@jlsmilges
An autistic child was having a hard time one day and was visibly upset about something. Another customer says to me “Why do parents bring her out in public?”
I just stared at them and said “I don’t know, maybe because she is a human being.”
No time for that nonsense.
@ValerieComplex
My partner was sent home three times - in two different ERs - while battling Covid. Last time, his oxygen was at 88 - and they were sending him home.
When he was finally admitted, it took 10 days for him to be discharged - how ill he was.
Medical racism exists. And it kills.
@PreetBharara
My mom called me from Serbia and said: “You’re celebrating like we did in 2000 when we overthrew Milosevic’s regime”.
Those who survived autocracy and dictatorship know what it feels like when somebody else does.
@RU_logical
@Rookie_Chi
I did go down the rabbit hole recently… googled “smart men” “successful men” “good looking men”… then googled “criminals” and “drug dealers”…
It is beyond racially biased.
@SubriaWhitaker
So now they have second and third.
Indiana has first and fourth.
With BG still playing, it means that five out of top 6 of all time are all playing in W at the same time!
My heart is full.
@V_nASSty
My mom does this about one lesbian friend she has. She always refers to her “my friend, you know, the lesbian one”...
They’ve been friends for 40 years 🤣. Yes, mom, I know. Your friend has a wife. It’s cool.
@Leftovers_enjoy
@kurteichenwald
@AnthonySabatini
Actually, CDC just put out a study saying 340,000 more people died this year than usual annual average.
So, please, and I say this as politely as I can - on behalf of 270,000 dead and 100,000 already hospitalized due to Covid - STFU.
@Yankees
@Yankees
did not state an opinion or picked a side in the debate.
They tweeted a single fact, and a link to the source of their fact.
The fact that some of y’all are getting riled up over a simple fact says more about you then about the tweet itself.
Check yourself.

So much good food year round!
@solomonmissouri
I manage a diner that used to be popular with seniors.
In the last 4 years, more than 100 of my customers died. I stopped counting last September when I got to 100.
We truly do not comprehend how boomer generation dying is killing service and hospitality industry.
@Broken_Devotion
I looked at the kid and just smiled at her from across the table and mouthed “I enjoyed it” and shrugged my shoulders.
Kid’s eyes lit up. She waved at me when I left.
That kid bothered no one, and they were killing her spirit 😢
@DPMCanty
Had a bunch of Latino workers eating at the restaurant one day.
One of the customers asked loudly and slowly: “Where. Are. You. From?”
Dude just looked at him and said “Louisville,” then shrugged his shoulders.
I had to walk away cause I was laughing too hard.
@BlackBernieBabe
And let’s talk how in 50s and 60s Belgians used to have section of zoos where they displayed Congolese children.
The fact that we speak about Holocaust, but not about atrocities committed in Congo just shows how racist Western societies are.
We should learn about both.
@ValerieComplex
I wish I could tell you that I feel only sadness for your pain. Even though I am sad to read this, what I feel even more is anger. Your family didn’t deserve this.
My heart is with you.
@SLGreenberg
Nah. This column is awful.
She told you that she doesn’t want her words spun and misconstrued- and that is EXACTLY what you did.
You chose the words you put in this column, and it sounds like throwing shade rather than empathy.
Please stay away from W if this is what you do.
@desihova
I coached a kid that everyone told me was rude, had an attitude, and was uncoachable.
Never had an issue with her. Hard worker, good teammate. Asked her about it once. “I just don’t like those other coaches.” 😂😂
Went on to have wonderful college career. They were all wrong.
@achill638
@michaelharriot
As someone who has coached for 14 years - no way in hell would I let that game continue.
I stopped the game for much, much, much smaller incident - to protect my player.
It angers me that they did nothing.
@Chelsnii
5 lbs of fudge in my carry-on, flying back from NOLA… TSA lady looked at my bag on the screen before opening it (when flagged for add’l security) and said “Fudge, huh?”
She said it happened at least half a dozen times a day 😂😂😂

@kennedytcooper
I am a first generation immigrant. English is now my first language, as I am finding it harder and harder to communicate in my native language.
I’m also a copy editor and a reporter and used to be a teacher. Oh - and have a whole ass degree in English. So… I don’t qualify 😂
@EmilyGiam
I learned just now what “twisties” are. Whoa!
I supported her decision to withdraw, trusting her own judgement, but this brings it to the whole different level, and now I am glad that she did.

Why yuk? I do it every 10-14 days… not running to laundromat every few days.
That doesn’t mean I wear dirty clothes. It just means I have enough to last me that long.
@MikeSington
A co-worker and a good friend came in to work, and I looked at her and asked if her face looked droopy when she left home. Asked her to smile, lift her arms, and to say some multi syllable words (learned from some PSA).
Then told her to clock out and head to ER. It was stroke.
@_waleedshahid
@JDincauze
Recently had someone tell me “Yankees occupied Virginia during Civil War.”
I replied with “You mean, US military defended the United States? How could US Army occupy its own country?”
The look on their face was priceless.
@punished_cait
But let’s say neither one of them requests off, and the busy week come, and two people are out sick - what is a contingency plan?
I manage a restaurant. And always have a backup plan in case emergencies happen. It’s not that hard.

My partner’s grandma went into hospital and was admitted for non-Covid related issues. 11 days later she contracted Covid. In a locked down hospital. 26 days later, she died while on ventilator.
Angry doesn’t come close to how I feel about other people’s “research.”
@MKParmenter
@MenshevikM
Same sentiment.
I have, however, seen a correlation between people who are ultra-nationalistic about 9/11, but completely dismissive of almost 700,000 who died from Covid.
@rolandgarros
I watch tennis for tennis, and have never watched press conferences... it is not a freaking reality show!
We treat these athletes like they are in the circus. Nah - if she doesn’t want to talk to the press, she doesn’t have to. It’s a stupid rule.
@gothspiderbitch
My mom and dad divorced, then ended up living together as best friends, because it made sense financially, and mom took care of dad through his cancer battle, and was de facto the executor of his estate when he passed.
@EricJafMN
@JoshuaPotash
Sure. Hospital erroneously sued me for the bill I proved was paid. They also sent the bill to collection agency. 130 point hit to credit score.
Four months later, they removed the collection that wasn’t collection to begin with. Score went up only 30. Will take years to fix.

But today, I literally told all the coworkers that we should learn at least the basic sign language so we can interact better.

“I love my kids, but I wish I didn’t have them” is the line that I hear from a number of my friends.

You think it’s the workers that drag the process of construction? 😂😂😂
It’s the applications and permits and zoning and project bids and then waiting for the government to release the money...
And then repeat the process for every step of the project.

@Broken_Devotion
I might’ve even understood if the kid was disruptive to other passengers or was disturbing anyone…
She was just in her own corner, staying out of everyone’s way, entertaining herself since her parents were not engaging with her at all. Not even toys or a book or a tablet. 😢
@Dusk357A
@michaelharriot
Absolutely same here. Came home one day to find mom fixing up window blinds and dad making lunch...
Never occurred to me there was anything wrong with that picture.
@rolandgarros
And she is right - half of those questions are repetitive and borderline weird sometimes... “so, how did you feel when you hit the ball?” 😂... “how does it feel to lose?”...
It’s bunch of BS - just let them play, and let them do interviews on their own time.
@chromatican
2008, saw her as an opening act to New Kids on the Block.
2 weeks later, watched her take over the world at the VMAs.
I’m still in shock all these years later that I watched her perform from like 10 feet from the stage.

Watched Oprah show decades ago, when she talked about how in elementary school, a visiting speaker made her feel not ugly… and how that stayed with her.

Two weeks ago. I’m at work. I am having a horrible personal day, but still trying to smile cause I work with public.
Little girl extends her arms to me, and grandma says it’s ok to give her a hug. She jumps in my arms and holds me tight.

@JimRutt2
@jenn_rubin
Bullshit. I don’t have children. I would rather see my taxes used on welfare of children and families than subsidize $800 billion defense budget.
Those children will be one day nurses, doctors, plumbers, mechanics, cooks, and I will need their services. It’s called society.

Your comment says you know nothing about Bernie.
This outfit is exactly what we expect from him - and those mittens are legendary, and an ode to the working class.
So, sit this one out.
@SenJoniErnst
Glad that you read the bill.
It doesn’t say “during the pandemic” in the bill. Timeline is clearly spelled out - 5 years.
It also includes a whole lot of money to help small businesses with their payroll (but you fail to mention that part!).
@colemanhall
Well… Grafton (Taylor County) does have one of the biggest lake beaches around - and this is where everyone goes boating in the summertime.
But it’s way greener and prettier.

I disagree.
She has been beyond savvy, and has always known who she’s talking to in the interviews and who the audience is, and communicates appropriately.

No. Meal. Debt.
Thank you 🙏

That would definitely be a fraud.
Though you have to have a year residency to even run for Senate - which he somehow established - which would still entitle him to vote provisionally.
He’s super shady though and I don’t trust him at all.

Someone who makes $75K in DC is basically on poverty line...
Someone who made $75K in 2019 might’ve lost all that income in 2020...
Someone who made $150K might’ve gone bankrupt with cancer bills in 2020...
Just give the money out. That simple.

I don’t see anger or disrespect.
I see a person being tired and exhausted from the government inaction. I see human urging the society to do better… pleading with the society to get it together.
Keep talking. Your message is powerful.

It’s my favorite story of this year.
Kate has perfected basic skills, and reads the game so well on both sides of the court. There is no CC success without Kate doing all the little things right.
I’m so happy for her.

Not defending him here by any means - but just because you register to vote in one state, it doesn’t automatically cancel your registration in the state of previous residence. As long as you don’t vote in two different states in the same election, there is no fraud committed.

So you are saying that “having someone to take care of you when you’re older” is a reason to have children?
That is beyond selfish. Children have zero obligation to take care of their parents. Zero. They can choose to if they wish, but they can also choose not to.
