Grotty early morning flight face on cos flights ain't glamourous and should not be the only way a woman can access heathcare. Thinking of the beautiful solidarity from my UK pals this week, and of all the UK docs who take care of Irish women every day

Proud to have written last night’s episode of The Woman in the Wall. There is a former laundry five mins from my home in Cork. It’s such recent, violent history and I’m glad people are feeling the rage and love in Lorna’s story.
#TheWomanInTheWall
is so very, very good. Those fucking laundries. Those fucking mother and baby homes. The calculated viciousness. brilliant cast, brilliant writing, brilliant direction. It's full of rage and grief and love. watch it.
@BBCiPlayer
My landlord is trying to increase our rent by £500 pm. It's not illegal (tenancy up for renewal) but it is despicable. I am so so so so so so so so so so so so so sick of renting and there is no end in sight folks!!! Anyway sorry 4 the feelings on main but commiserations welcome
Are you ready to change your life?
Paradise Now! journeys deep into ambition, exploitation and kinship in a world that wants to keep us strangers. A new play by Margaret Perry (Collapsible).

Why can't Andrew Lloyd Webber lobby the govt to help smaller theatres through the coming months instead of his own big expensive fairytale? Or set up a fund himself, he's got the cash. The West End doesn't exist without the fringe, really sad that he doesn't seem to care
Completely overwhelmed and overjoyed by this news. We couldn't have asked for a better London home for the show following our
@_HighTide_
runs at Edinburgh and Aldeburgh ✨ Still pinching myself that Essie is getting such a life after spending so long sitting in my head!💃
Essie’s lost her job. Her girlfriend’s left. But she’s alright. Except lately she feels more like a chair than a person. One of those folding chairs. Solid one minute. And then…

Tomorrow Collapsible opens

End of PN. What a cast! What a team! What a building

I love our new artwork by Camilla Greenwell and our incredible cast and team. Getting to make this play
@bushtheatre
with them is extreme joy and I cry with laughter basically every day. We open in a few weeks please come see us!!
Just ended an email with "Hope you're enjoying this ominous sun", how long until Gmail starts to suggest climate change-related sign-offs; "Hope your water source is fresh these days!" "May this week's mandatory air pollution curfew be a productive one!"
If you're concerned about social distancing at the protests but not about a day at the beach, you need to ask yourself what you really count as an essential journey. Solidarity and power to those protesting💪

So thrilled with this from the Stage, who gave us five stars and kindly forgave me for my inclusion of a 2019 meme in a play set in 2015 (a sure sign I spend too much time on this website!!!) Map can have a little joy today, as a treat
I'm trying to write a big play at the moment and finding it v v hard because I haven't seen a big play (or indeed small plays) in so long and it's hard to remember how lots of bodies moving in space work. Anyone else feeling this?? Any tips lads??
It was very cathartic to speak to
@shanti_das
for this piece. I was hesitant because I’m scared my landlord will see it and I’m now trying to stay in the house and swallow some of the increase rather than uproot my entire life -
We're extended til March 21st, hurray! Still a good few tix (including £10 ones) left across the run. Tell me if you're coming and want to have a pint after🤗
We are excited to announce that due to popular demand and a critically acclaimed Bush Theatre run, we are extending the ★★★★ "sensational"

A Passion Play is coming out very soon and I'm really excited to have it in the world. It's full of the high drama of queer teenage love and Christ's crucifixion and is also full of chunks of my heart.

How is it not already classed a terrorist organisation. How does it still legally exist in 2020. Oh my God. I feel so ignorant. Burn it to the fucking ground
All theatre that managed to happen this year is my favourite, & all the theatre that couldn't happen too, & all the theatre currently postponed, and all the artists being brave & stoic or angry & upset or all of the above in the face of this, I love you all, we'll be back soon
A man just loudly and cheerfully tried to chat me up on the tube to the absolute bafflement of the whole carriage, sir, there is a pandemic, and also, no
So incredibly nice. Congrats to this team who I am, simply and plainly, obsessed with!! (Sorry for my many play tweets but famously joy is not made to be a crumb so take it up with Mary Oliver x)
The
@NationalTheatre
's new season is really exciting but feel like I won't be able to afford to see any of it. When will the £15 Travelex tickets be replaced? Otherwise it's gamble on Friday rush or pay £21 to see half the stage.
I’m writing an episode of this show with Joe and the team. If I’ve cancelled a plan with you this year it’s cos I’ve been hanging out with Lorna Brady. She’s great company to keep. Thanks for having me gang

Thanks guys, I'm nearly 30, old people need to see plays too. I hate to grumble I really do but I don't think it's good enough to have no affordable ticket options beyond this. If

Last session of my writers group last night and 9 amazing plays shortly winging their way into the world. Watch this space. Also trying to teach on Zoom aged me by one thousand years, I have become what I always scorned, that teacher who could never figure out the projector
Shook
@swkplay
is moment by moment one of the best, most furious and compassionate things I've ever seen. We talk about theatre as a church of empathy - Shook is what I think that means. Except it's not preachy for one moment, so in that sense, it's nothing like church. Watch it

pls enjoy this blooper reel which is mostly just me laughing at my own writing
Sorry to rant but I am FUMING that the Covid Emergency Response grants from ACE have just become taxable. How kind of HMRC to decide that right up against the deadline. After the years this industry has had and the unquantifiable cost of lost work. How mean spirited and stingy.
All the evenings are sold out this week! There’s good availability on Wednesday matinee and like 5 tickets for Sat matinee if you’re looking for one. It’s really really nice to have packed houses I’m so delira for the teammmm

Vicky’s
@royalcourt
was the first place in London that felt like home to me. My first Intro group session was the day after I moved here knowing no-one. Then a longer group a few years later, and all the while, my box office job which kept me in this city + writing for six years
The day rate for a new play commission is absolutely less than £100 a day when you break down the hundreds of hours spent across many drafts over a series of years (a lil thread)
Everyone is very mad about £100 day rates on the Theatre Peckham advert, but pls I beg you stop pretending that this isn’t the rate that so many jobs in this industry are advertised for in quieter less public ways!!! And those orgs get no flack 🙃
This day last year
@Tusenbach
rang me to tell me Porcelain was going on. I was in Notting Hill and I wandered round the streets in a happy blur and then sat in a Cafe Nero and texted and called everyone I've ever known. Every time I pass that Cafe Nero I smile.
Here's the form for my beginners playwriting group - Wednesdays 7-9 June 24th to July 29th on Zoom. I'll leave the app open until 6pm Friday. If you're like, "what's a beginner" I've answered that at the start of the form. Any other qs, DMs open!
And me and

Guys we all need books in this time: consider getting them delivered from your local bookshop instead of Amazon. A bit more expensive but think of the money you're saving by not getting the tube. We need to help keep their doors open so that they're still standing when we emerge!
