Speaking to family in #Sudan , my aunt said “we can’t leave, we will bravely await death.” A month ago, they woke up to a full blown war & I woke up to losing my home & roots. Hospitals, airports, retailers, homes, etc…all blown up. The survival’s guilt is real 😞

It's the first time in all my years of schooling that a prof told me "to not give up" Even though it was an obvious statement, it meant alot coming from them and it sure motivated me to work harder. Wish all profs had this level of empathy for their students 🤧

Lost a family member in Sudan. She has been displaced for almost 1 yr, moving around rural towns only to return to home 2 days ago, & pass away 30 mins later from the horror. We didn’t know about it for 48 hrs bcz networks have been shut off. #Sudan ’s war is a forgotten horror 😢

This morning, the militia broke into my extended family's houses, raided them, and stole everything valuable and sentimental. The pain of being helpless to our belongings and privacy being invaded. Please keep my family, our hometown, and the entirety of #Sudan in your prayers.

Speaking to family in #Sudan , my aunt said “we can’t leave, we will bravely await death.” A month ago, they woke up to a full blown war & I woke up to losing my home & roots. Hospitals, airports, retailers, homes, etc…all blown up. The survival’s guilt is real 😞

I went to check on my older Black patient and was leaving his room when he called me back over and said softly ‘I’m so proud of you, keep doing what you do.’ He was beaming with pride and gratitude as he told me whenever he has a Black doctor he is treated so well. Made my day.
