13. The actual, final Korpo, was rendered by the great

. He brought his own style to it and made it a bit more childish, which we thought was very fitting to the style of the game we wanted to make. He's scary, but not that scary.
5. Here's the final protoype, with super-fast-growing crops inspired by

's Insaniquarium. We loved the swipe-screen mechanic but it felt weird for the character drag its feet. This is where thought maybe it should be a SUPER character and FLY/levitate when swiping.

11. This is the first quick concept we made, to get an idea on colors and size of grid/game area. The first "creature" was actually a soil-creature. They all have an iconic leaf which connects with SFB's leaf, which is the way he "communicates" with them... kinda like Aquaman.

8. This is where we nailed down the "Super" idea, and decided that he should be able to do everything, by "transforming" into every tool. So, no need for tools, nor inventories.
1. The first prototype of SFB dates back to 7th June 2016! 8 years ago. It started off as a simple mobile farming-rpg which could be controlled by swiping the screen. Initially, we thought it had to have a "browsing websites" feel. For some reason...

3. We even ventured with more of an "action RPG" idle idea where you just swiped the screen and nothing else. Here's where the idea of "helpers" was born. As in, the pets that follow you around and help you optimize your crops/farm.

32. For NPCs, we wanted in this world for them mostly to be aliens... of some form. It's world full of superheroes, monsters, and aliens. Not even Super is human... (we think).

25. After nailing the main factors that define SFB's universe, we created this animated storyboard. The typical farming game story is: you inherit a badly-shaped farm to work on. We thought: let's begin with a GREAT farm, then have this evil dude destroy it all.

24. A blob-house was very fitting into the Super Farming Boy universe we were creating. She's a house, she's a friend of yours, and also she's made of transparent jelly, so no need to do any boring transitions in and out of the house!

33. Another mechanic we did, is combos & chain reactions, which in the end came to be the main mechanic of the game. Inspired on

's Diabolika, we created this plant/seed-based combo structure where harvesting crops triggers an effect on certain slots.

31. Another mechanic we wanted to do is "Deadnight". What happens *after* night? Well... ghouls appear, of course! Make sure you DON'T TOUCH them. The idea is for DeadNight to feel a bit like Vampire Survivors, meaning you have to plant by running away from all these monsters!!

7. We knew SFB needed something more special. We knew we had to resolve various things with its design from the prototype. Why this he fly? How come he does everything without any tools?

9. Design decisions still needed to be made. How is "Super" going to "plant stuff"? What if the seeds are characters that just follow you around? That sounded like a neat idea.

22. Now that we had the main characters lined up, we needed another issue to fix: where does SFB live? A regular house felt pretty lame. He's Super... what about a broken NASA spaceship? That was a bit more fun but still boring...

10. Having SFB transform into tools gave us tons of ideas for power ups, and weird thingies he could transform into, given that there's no need for any sort of inventory whatsoever. He can even transform into Super Mario 3's boot, or even animals if we wanted!
