This is bad advice. A workplace in which pronouns are routinely included in email signatures is likely to make gender-critical staff feel excluded and fearful. Employees shouldn't be encouraged to signal their ideological positions with every communication.

No it isn’t. Single-sex toilets are lawful (mandatory in workplaces and schools). It’s lawful to exclude men from women’s toilets. The right not to suffer discrimination on grounds of GR does not operate as permission to invade facilities provided for the opposite sex at will.

The law is completely clear on this: where there is a real need (as in the case of services for victims and survivors of VAWG) for female-only services, they are lawful. And for these purposes "female-only" refers to biological sex.

Female victims and survivors absolutely have the right (legally and morally) to ask for a female support worker or counsellor where they feel they need one. This is widely accepted as good practice in the VAWG sector isn't it?

If the patient requests same-sex care, that should be honoured if possible, but at minimum the patient must not be shamed or tricked into accepting opposite-sex care. It's not clear how the needs and "safety" of a "trans man" or "trans woman" arise.

This is untrue. Trans-identifying athletes can compete in their own sex class, subject to the same rules as anyone else. This is both fair and lawful.

Astonishing* that the GRA ensures that trans-identifying males retain the advantage of sexist rules about the descent of peerages even after grant of a gender recognition certificate.

The Cass Review is going to be game-changing, with ripples well beyond its own medical remit. In particular, for those working in health, social care and education: Forstater established that it was your right to speak up. Cass makes it your duty.

Scotland's Hate Crime Act comes into effect today. Women gain no additional protections, of course, but well-known trans activist Beth Douglas, darling of prominent Scottish politicians, falls within a protected category. Phew! 1/11

In a sense this is true: there's no reason why patients should know or care about HCPs' inner sense of their ineffable gender. But if this means it's ok to trick patients into accepting opposite-sex care to which they do not consent, it is horrifyingly wrong.

This seems to suggest that patients who understand the material reality of sex are not entitled to refuse opposite-sex care. It is wrong. Every patient has the right to refuse to be touched (especially, but not only, intimately touched) by an HCP of the opposite sex.

These are two completely different kinds of things. Agreed that "refusing to employ" a trans or non-binary person" will rarely be lawful. But patient choice is not governed by the EqA at all - patients have no EqA obligation not to discriminate against HCPs.

The model policy encourages employers to break the law by withdrawing single-sex toilet, washing and changing facilities. This discriminates against women, especially those traumatised by male violence, or from certain ethnic and/or religious groups.

Here is the reason for the #NoDebate strategy, and the strenuous attempts to silence anyone who spoke up. Once people understand what has been happening, most will be horrified. Here too is an illustration of the centrality of free speech to democratic decision-making.

I understand that. But we allowed it to happen. In my case because I had no idea such things could be done to young, vulnerable people. I feel ashamed and angry. It must be stopped.
