I used to think a Gender Recognition Certificate could be the ‘right thing to do’ in some (very rare) circumstances, but I don’t think that anymore. It’s a piece of paper that protects a lie. We simply shouldn’t be giving men legal documents that say they’re women. They’re not.

Another example of how Self-ID isn’t “just admin” at all. A £5 gender certificate gives a man access to women-only roles. These jobs are often women-only because they’re in sensitive orgs or services, or give access to vulnerable women, eg rape crisis/domestic violence shelters.
