People are drawing the wrong conclusions from the dickolas situation it's very funny "it went viral because one guy was passionate" it went viral because thousands of people have already loved it and shared the initial post. This doesn't work as well for unknown books that aren't
This picture (and series) is a good example of the "diversity" in most sapphic books. I am tired of book announcement art of two fem/andro (at best) cis white girls.
we don't have a lot of sapphic knight books and a lot of them suffer from "We shouldn't make the lady knight TOO masculine or else people will think she's a man π‘"

using this day to shine a light on 2023 releases by transfeminine writers. First, the ones that are already out!
Check the tweet below for upcoming 2023 releases π½
(A = adult, YA = young adult, MG = middle grade)
For butch appreciation day I would like to ask for more butch4butch romances, authors clearly labelling as butch their obviously butch characters and if someone could explain the trend of authors shifting towards using soft masc/butch
Writing a retelling of a woman from Greek mythology is not inherently feminist and most of those books barely contain any feminism besides the most basic girlboss narrative

ft. trans, ace, aro rep, recent queer releases, disability and queer romances
This thread is full of links which twitter will hate so RT are appreciated
I have something to say but I don't know how to concisely phrase it. Half my TL is a thriving community of transfem writers supporting each other and the other a community of queer non-transfem writers who sometimes remember that they should include them but make no changes
Iβve been sitting with this for a day or so andβ¦ I love that Iβm seeing so much support for transfem authors in our community right now. Iβm also acutely aware that most of the transfem authors weβve seen the last few years have been run off this app and out of our community.
Thinking about authors marketing queer books from a reader perspective lately
- avoidance of clear labels (using just the word queer) will make me less interested
- using the word "rep" makes me assume that you're likely counting SCs as well and I'm not interested in that
@shimmeringolds
Here are 4 YA recs that I would like to see adapted with biracial sapphic couples and no white people for the people looking for recs in the replies
π³οΈββ§οΈYoung Adult fiction published in 2023 with a trans/nonbinary lead
(with the inclusion of trans love interests)
If I've missed one especially LI since I haven't paid as close attention to them feel free to comment I'll add them to the thread
THE FIG!! My butch4butch erotic short story is in this!! I'm very excited to be in this with so many of my mutuals and friends (go read it if you want to know what this fig is all about)
@maidensblade
People will make entire trans lists not featuring a single trans woman but the one time Rainbow Book Crate made a trans list SPECIFICALLY to highlight trans women people in the comments were complaining that they had not included transmasc and nb authors. I hate double standards
I spoke about it being more likely to be recommended a book by a white author about BIPOC characters than a by an author of color in the sapphic indie sphere in this :
Lesbians being the least represented aexuality in publishing despite cis women making most of the respondents, K. Ancrum's f/f works not being picked up by publishing, the lack of diversity in sapphic rep... thoughts are being thought
I think in the older, more insular lesfic/indie romance scene you find a lot more butches than in the traditionally published works by often younger authors who if they do rather feature "soft masc" characters
Iβd be genuinely interested to see the data on this for sapphic romance! How many femme or feminine-of-center characters do we have, how many butch or masc-of-center characters, & how many characters who fall outside those categories? The latter two feel so minuscule to me
I've never been twitter villain of the day but I've been sapphic book twitter villain of the day when I said that the big popular titles where overly white and fem
"I find fics better than books" have you taken into account how reading stories about characters you already have an emotional connection to might influence your opinion

ENEMIES OF DORLEY HALL β COVER REVEAL
This is book three of The Sisters of Dorley, the story of a closeted trans girl who exploits a secret underground forced feminisation operation.
This book will comprise chapters 27 to 37 (ish). Launch date TBA. Preorder link in next tweet.
to the way they behave. No calling out of transmisogynistic behaviours, no seeking out and uplifting transfeminine writers by themselves. They are waiting for people to come to them without putting in the effort to be welcoming to transfeminine writers
Nothing sadder than an author writing predominantly M/F or M/M having one F/F story they or their fans never promote or mention (not to mention it's usually shorter and/or on less accessible channels)
I made this slide for 2023 but I'm not sure i will finish the actual post it was intended for but yeah... hey at least we're 3 months away from 2024 and it already looks better
I'd day some sapphic/lesfic reviewers are guilty of the "this is my first time reading a book with a trans main character but this was very interesting and I learned a lot" (including in reviews of books by cis authors with bad rep imo) and then never change their reading habits
I've read reviews of a specific trans fem contemporary romance title, and a lot of them are cis people going 'oh I'm learning so much about trans women!' which is a bit...
π 2025 sapphic books form & databaseπ
Yes, I'm starting early this year to not miss any π
In the tweets below you'll find the links to a database of sapphic books coming out in 2025 and to a form to suggest new books

I want to see more illustrated romance covers like these im begging. More facial detail! More amorous embracing! Less undefined vaguely person shaped blob images
I was thinking about how the lack of masculine traits on sapphic characters especially on covers is likely due to a marketing thing where they need to communicate that's it's two GIRLS but it's also sad
we don't have a lot of sapphic knight books and a lot of them suffer from "We shouldn't make the lady knight TOO masculine or else people will think she's a man π‘"
they /really want/ to read transfeminine works but not this one. Or this one. Or they'll add this one to their TBR and and forget about it. But they /really want/ to read those books there's just nothing for them you know π’
