Wild how the carbon tax gets so many people so riled up
We tax alcohol to deter its use
We tax cigarettes for the same reason
What’s the diff with pollution?
I want teachers to be paid more. I want nurses to be paid more. I want my neighbour to be paid more. I want you to be paid more. I want to be paid more.
Imagine being against your community having a better standard of living.
It’s important to remember today that the carbon tax “relief” Scott Moe and other primers are fighting for isn’t about making life more affordable for you, it’s about making life more affordable for corporations
Updated: Saskatchewan teachers say they will be escalating their job action despite an announcement by the premier to make the "largest increase in school operating funding ever in Saskatchewan's history."
Making a window salesman who never educated a single Saskatchewan classroom in his life the Minister of Education is like making a former City of Toronto street planning consultant the Saskatchewan Minister of Agriculture.
Why? Why do we do this?
Can we not?
While in Creighton, it was great to check in with the team at
@ForanMining
to get an update on their McIlvenna Bay project.
Some very exciting developments on an important project for Saskatchewan (and especially this region).
Breaking: Rawlco Radio’s John Gormley shared with listeners Wednesday morning that he is stepping away from his flagship radio show that has shaped Saskatchewan conversations for more than two decades.
I hope this radicalizes teachers and other labour groups. We need to be coordinated and united against this corruption. It’s not just about teachers, it’s about everyone who needs a job to survive, it’s about our kids.
The Saskatchewan Party government has blocked an investigation by the provincial auditor into the Sunrise Motel, which is owned by Sask. Party MLA Gary Grewal.
Canadians don’t want affordable housing
You read that right
Canadians view home purchases as an investment vehicle taking them on a smooth ride to retirement
This means they have a vested interest in unaffordable housing
Housing isn’t an investment
Housing is a human right
I received one of my FOIP requests on Sask.'s pronoun consent policy back; it includes all the letters sent to ed. minister Dustin Duncan before & immediately after the policy came out.
Spoiler: the overwhelming majority spoke against the policy.

To be clear, pollution pricing (carbon tax) is the easiest and BEST way to reduce pollution during the climate crisis we are in. Ask literally any economist.
That said, it ought to disproportionately target the biggest corporate (capitalist) polluters.
It never ceases to amaze me how the skndp blocks young, enthusiastic progressives for the tired party leadership whose only plan on winning the next election is a hope that the SUP will split votes. They don’t wanna do the work. They want to coast into office.
Only 27 pages in, and I could not be more pissed off.
#Saskatchewan
We sold a Crown that managed 19% and 40% annual returns when the entire market dipped and no one else sold mines.
#skpoli
Did you know... A family of four in SK earning $100,000 in total annual income pays more in total provincial taxes today than they did in 2007?
That’s because we’ve shifted the tax burden onto the middle class to give our rich donors the tax breaks they deserve.
#skpoli
"For us the carbon tax has been an effective mechanism to reduce carbon pollution. Since 2017 our emissions have gone down despite a dramatic increase in population," says B.C. Premier David Eby of federal carbon pricing policy following meeting with other premiers.

Yo stop replying to the skp nobodies who are weighing in on teacher bargaining.
You’re amplifying their message. No one knows who they are already. Keep it that way.
lol “photosynthesis CO2”
Any grade 5 science class could ruin this argument
“Plants need CO2 to survive so therefore CO2 can’t possible be bad” 🤡
I expect nothing less from these climate change deniers
Yesterday, 95% of SARM delgates voted CO2 is not a pollutant.
Science, evidence in front of your face - shut up, sheeple.
Further, rural Sask has decided our province will "remove itself" from any international agreements referencing net zero.
What a bunch of total fuckwits.
“No policy” is the norm for the
@Sask_NDP
. Hoping
@CarlaBeckSK
starts dropping a forward thinking vision soon.
Courting a few unhappy skp voters is not a sustainable plan. They will eat you alive if there is no substance.
The realities of the two-party system. The NDP has made no policy promises, but government missteps, poor public management, and, quite frankly, being a tired government is finally starting to show. Especially in the cities. Rural SK less so.
Sask. Party-led Legislative Security now intends to force visitors to register their name and address 72 hours in advance... presumably to run a background check on members of the public?

Scott Moe gets booed at the Brier. The crowd immediately switches to cheers once their name is announced but everyone heard the boos for Moe. He has pissed off the wrong people in this province. Time To Go Moe.
There are some big egos in

It’s important to remember that it’s the skparty who’s the enemy and not each other - that’s exactly what they want us to think/do
We can’t let them win
A Caesar salad kit is $7, but it’s that dang capital gains tax that’s making life more expensive for everyday Canadians. It’s definitely not the capitalists and grocery barons. That would be absurd.

Government: 15%

Um. We have no schools for democracy and democratic learning. History, fine arts, music have all been trimmed. We have no food program for students and the province has been vilifying teachers and refuses to address real issues in the classroom. But this is the reform we get?
Every time I hear the Government of Saskatchewan talking about the federal government making life more expensive, I think about this juicy little bit from my student loans statement.

“The premier says Harrison didn't initially remember bringing the gun into the legislature, but admitted to it when his memory came back.”
When his memory came back 😂 🤡
Carla Beck's latest videos suggest she is off her game, and Scott Moe's latest photos suggest he's hammered drunk. Sadly, we have two unappealing options for

Jeremy Harrison has resigned his position of gov't house leader for admitting to bringing a long gun into the Legislature Building 10 years ago.
He says it was properly cased. Harrison is still an MLA and in caucus.
Last week he told the Premier what he did was false.

Weird how nobody blockaded highways demanding Galen Weston quit price gouging us.
Or asking Big Oil to rebate some of their massive profits back to consumers.
Or for real estate speculators like PP not to profit from the stressed out housing market.
But $0.03 is the red line.
What a stupid take
The
@Sask_NDP
(and apparently the
@albertaNDP
) sure like to talk about climate change while doing absolutely nothing to address it. Imagine having zero courage like this 🤡
Energy critics from the Alberta NDP and the Saskatchewan NDP issue a joint statement against NDP MP Charlie Angus’ private member’s bill that calls for a ban on “misleading, deceptive” fossil fuel ads.
Background from
@CBCDavid
Like yes, but this lacklustre messaging just isn’t doing it for me
“Vote for us cause we’re not the other guy,” is so uninspiring
No emotion, no hope, no VISION
We’ve got two bad options in Moe vs. Beck
🧵
We have a
@Sask_NDP
caucus who takes the bait every. single. time.
Would love them to forage their own path rather than trying to piggyback off their opponents
Imagine being outplayed by Scott Moe.
If the Feds let Sask get away with not paying carbon tax, Sask Party comes off as defiant heroes.
If Feds shut it down, NDP can't claim a win because they unanimously voted for it.
Sask Party opened a door. NDP closed it on themselves.
NEW:
Alberta NDP confirm membership has jumped to just over 85,000 since the start of the leadership race.
The party membership sat at 16,224 on December 31st.

Remember in ‘17 when teachers all became skparty members to try and influence power? Yeah, that was dumb. Teachers, take a page from
@warringtondarcy
and start doing the work that will unseat power
Didn't think the
@SaskParty
would go as far as connecting this directly to one of their corporate donors... but they sure did!
Why?
Cause they don't give a fuck!
Lol.
Tell me more about why you believe we should trust these clowns with our kids' education based on their word.
The federal natural resources minister says Saskatchewan residents won't get a carbon rebate, after the province announced it would stop remitting the levy on natural gas to Ottawa.

I am deeply saddened by the willful silence of politicians here in Saskatchewan on the genocide in Palestine.
I am especially disappointed by the silence of progressive politicians in Sask.
The lack of integrity is disappointing to say the least, from all.
This is quite the climate policy set that
@pancholi_rakhi
has rolled out…
Net zero electricity by 2035, reforming the AER and shutting down the UCP “War Room” to the relief of bigfoots everywhere!

I’ve had this conversation with our trustee. From what I remember what’s more important than fire code is number of washrooms per number of students.
Earlier today,
@STFPresident
and
@CTFFCEpresident
hand-delivered 3,300+ letters to
@PremierScottMoe
and
@jeremycockrill
. The letters were from Sask teachers and parents, describing critical issues such as class size and complexity, and what the government must do to address them.
"Regardless of subject, Sask Party bills are not rooted in sound policy or reality. This undemocratic government serves itself, not Sask people, so we will *never* support any bill they put forward. It's time for a new government."
There you go,
@Sask_NDP
. This isn't difficult.
SRHBA CEO Nicole Burgess stated, “We were quite concerned when we first heard about this new proposed levy around the end of April as it is a direct hit on affordability and one of those extra costs that will essentially get passed on to a homeowner.”

Killed a person. Multiple DUIs. Bankrupt his farm. Pardoned his brother from a traffic offence. Bailed his kid out of a DUI in BC. Has a brother in law who calls kids retards online. The list goes on…
The
@Sask_NDP
literally have nothing to lose but they choose to play it safe.
Unfortunately playing it safe has meant losing for the last 17 years.
They court liberals and cons while alienating their base of progressives.
It’s uninspiring and damaging to the movement.
If the Sask NDP wants to get serious: piss off the people who are never happy with you anyway.
Fuck it. They’re never happy. So why do gymnastics for them?
You’ll pay on Twitter but who cares? Most people know the difference between this God-forsaken platform and IRL. *Most.
