@nikhilkamathcio
So cheating on a live stream and embarrassing a living legend of India and the global chess community is your idea of fun and charity? What a role model you are buddy.
@hodgetwins
In public schools in 🇸🇬, we used to have public caning for students who fight or behave rudely. My principal in primary school slapped me across the face, just because I talked back to her. These days teachers are a lot milder but this kid wouldn’t survive an hour here.
My final word on this cheating scandal - I COMPLETELY understand why the cheaters did what they did. Like all men, we all wish to "last a little longer".
@hodgetwins
I see a bunch of 🍓overreacting and claiming that I’m advocating violence🤣 nothing is further from the truth - what I’m saying is that in the 90s, we had caning as an effective way of discipline. These days this is outdated because people are getting softer. The truth hurts
It is ridiculous that so many are thinking that I really beat Vishy sir in a chess game, that is almost like me waking up and winning a 100mt race with Usain Bolt. 😬
So now Caruana and Nepomniachtchi have both openly spoken about their doubts over Hans Niemann's integrity. 4 of the world's best players surely did not make such assessments purely on the basis of Han's online cheating when he was 16?
Thanks very much for your support, CG Edgar! 😃 we are very privileged to be here and grateful for the incredible hospitality from the organisers and Tamil Nadu government 🙏
Excited to see our Singapore team flying our 🇸🇬 high at the 44th FIDE

in Chennai. Thanks also to
@chennaichess22
and the Tamil Nadu govt for taking good care of them. Wishing our team all the best for the competition ahead!

Another disappointing example - why would someone with supposedly so much internet influence mock the reigning World Chess Champion? Do these guys really have nothing better to do?
Weak players on the internet mocking the World Chess Champion Episode 1.
The arrogance from some of these heavily followed influencers is simply unbelievable.
@EugenePerel
@Bennyficial1
Thats the thing though, you did make mistakes as most humans do, and you lost the game. It's a bit strange to make a hypothetical assumption that you've won, and then assume Magnus would accuse you of cheating without many of the other factors in the other case.
I want to express my appreciation for all the volunteers and hotel staff at Park Plaza OMR - I am very touched by the amazing hospitality and kindness shown to us. I think Singapore hotels can learn a lot over here.
Highly unlikely that there would be concrete evidence for OTB cheating but I would certainly feel very uncomfortable playing someone in an OTB tournament knowing these numbers
It has obviously not gone unnoticed by many but I have to agree that Nepomniachtchi has carried himself really well in all these brutal post-game press conferences. Some of these questions like “how do you feel, Ian” should be deemed illegal.
Really tough match for us today - 3-1 losses for both teams. Had a rough 5 hours game with
@DavidHowellGM
that reminded me of my age 🤣
Tmr we go again

@Jonathan_Rowson
I agree that innocence has to be presumed, but the fact that he lied, and lied so blatantly and outrageously according to chesscom has to be a big red flag.
The Chinese Chess Federation deserves a lot of credit for doing everything they could to get Ding Liren to Madrid and they are rewarded with a challenger to become the World Chess Champion. That is called backing your athlete, even if it invited a lot of criticism.
I tried 4-player chess on
@chesscom
and had no idea whats happening but it seems like lots of chess players love it.
@kyrawny
handmade an absolutely gorgeous OTB set with basic raw material😍 just look at that
@DanielRensch
@ChessMike
@itherocky
@hodgetwins
Btw, my dad was FURIOUS with the slap because he was afraid my glasses might fly off and break and he was NOT gonna get me a new pair. He actually demanded that teachers choose other spots to smack me the next time I was out of line 🤣
The chess world is small but every little helps. Moving the Olympiad is just a very small step. Terminating sponsorships with Russian organisations would be a strong statement, despite the financial issues. Money isn’t everything. And I hope Karjakin sleeps well at night.
Funny thing about the drama is that no one would have paid attention if the boy is a little bit older 🤣 Nepomniachtchi’s argument is logical although I’ve played millions of GM tournaments in Hungary and harvested a grand total of 1 norm. Wouldn’t say it’s easy at all. 1/2
FIDE, which is led by a Russian has acted decisively in the wake of recent events and we probably should stop giving attention to the 2 🤡 . Instead, mad respect to Svidler and Grischuk who dared to speak publicly against their country’s act of war.
Is there not a clause somewhere in the contracts that the players in the candidates must not bring disrepute to the game? If so, surely advocating war, and mocking the loss of innocent lives must fall under this.
There is just too much speculation now, most of which is unfair on Hans Niemann. Hopefully we get an explanation soon as the game is now arguably thrown into disrepute.
Woke up this morning to find out that Magnus has won a game that took longer than my average sleeping time. 136 moves, 7 hours 40 minutes, world record in a world championship game - I got tired just scrolling through the moves 😩
People need to know that in both games that he lost, Magnus took risks that no other top GMs would. I like the strategy even if it’s not really working atm
Never realised there was such a thing as person of the day on
@FIDE_chess
website. Probably the only time when I’m next to the champ, not to mention that our ratings are pretty similar 🤣
Discipline, motivation and hard work, not talent are the main success drivers in chess. If you are busy with work, family, friends or social media, there is no reason to be surprised when you lose games.
Armenia showing once again that a cohesive team with a winning mentality could outweigh other things, like losing their best player for instance. Sargissian again showing what a tremendous team player he is. They are my heroes whatever happens tomorrow.
#ChessOlympiad22
Singapore’s Tin Jingyao has a 2-0 score against our friend and also knocked out the great Shak Mamedyarov at the World Cup. All done while studying in one of the toughest University courses at NUS. Yet, like many other GMs, we can’t seem to get an invitation to some of these
Hans Niemann is the top seed for the
#TataSteelChess
Challengers, where the goal is to win the event and earn an automatic place in next year's Masters!
#c24live
…the kid and the dad must have spent loads of money and hard work to get there and they deserve a break hence explaining those mental tweets. Leave them alone. Time will tell if he eventually becomes the real deal. 2/2
Tough match - had my chances in both games but didn’t take them. Grateful for the opportunity
@FIDE_chess
and thanks to friends especially
@adhibanchess
and
@srinathchess
who both endorsed my dubious choice of opening 🤣
Singaporean young talent Ashwath Kaushik today beat Grandmaster Jacek Stopa in a classical game at the Burgdorfer Stadthaus-Open 2024. He is standing well at 4/4 and will have a challenging rest of the tournament.
At the age of 8 years, 6 months and 11 days, is this a record?
The way Wei Yi won that extremely tense playoff and stood up nonchalantly after shaking hands....just ice cold. Hope to see him play more often after this sensational result.
@davidllada
@sagarchess1
I absolutely have to agree. His work rate together with
@amrutamokal
is phenomenal. Also, his lifelong dream is to become a GM and he basically gave that up to try and get others to love and become better at chess.
The GM title.
There are a lot of new joiners to the game who might have the impression that chess is saturated with GMs and that it is very much doable as long as you train hard and have a bit of money. I also feel in general, there seems to be less respect for GMs who might be
@Samtile
No. This is public information that 4 top players have expressed openly, their doubts over Hans Niemann’s integrity. I am saying that they certainly have their own information and evidence and hopefully this will come to light soon.
@markgoldbridge
tbf Arsenal were the better team. They stretched us with Saka and Martinelli and Odegaard pulled the strings thru out. The team fought hard but we lacked attacking intent apart from Rashford. Maybe with Casemiro it could be a different result but we will never know.
One cannot help but feel inspired by the self-proclaimed “2700 player with no talent”. I don’t think that’s entirely true because being able to work hard is certainly a talent and in
@GMShanky
, you have a role model of someone with grit, discipline and resilience.
#FIDEWorldCup
Was awarded as one of the winners of the 2021 Ten Outstanding Young Persons award in Singapore. Honoured and grateful to be recognised for my work in chess, especially in a country where the chess presence is limited. Hopefully this will change soon.
@TarjeiJS
And yet we have really nasty people on the internet making fun of him. Sad lives.
Ding is a world champion and has made a lot of money out of it, this is true. That does not mean we cannot have a little bit of empathy.
Have to say that as a professional streamer, Hikaru’s game is still really impressive, and reminds of the time he was touted as a possible challenger for Magnus. Became Chess960 world champion without bringing a coach and then dominating Duda the way he did is pretty sick.
Singapore has a new GM - Tin Jingyao has scored 7/8 at the Hanoi GM Invitational, achieving the norm ahead of time. He becomes Singapore’s 5th, and our youngest ever GM.
Today could be the day that Karjakin's long standing record as the youngest kid to ever attain the GM title is broken. The 12 year old Abhimanyu Mishra needs to win with Black and its already a good start. A Grunfeld and a big time edge.
Knowing how hard both players have trained and prepared for this match, they must be desperate to try and equalise the match but putting aside their personal goals for the greater good is the right and mature thing to do. Speedy recovery to Mega, Ervan and Kris!
Dear all,we'd like to announce that both Medina and I have decided to withdraw from the World Cup.We are naturally very motivated to keep competing but the safety of all the participants,organisers,arbiters and every one around us is far more important than our personal interest.
Do you think studying CHESS has positively affected other aspects of your life? 🧐
It can be anything—your studies, your relationship, your career, your health, or your general approach towards life.
(If yes, we would love to know in what way chess helped you.)
A curious episode where the arbiter apparently did not know the 3-fold repetition rule very well, and cost the Mongolians what could have been one of their biggest wins in their chess history.
How you get this wrong with DGT is really beyond me.
Here's Magnus Carlsen telling the arbiter not to start Jan-Krzysztof Duda's clock despite his late arrival, a small faux pas the Norwegian himself is occasionally guilty of.
The plan was to troll
@adhibanchess
if the game didn’t go well but I somehow had a big, think +10 big position and contrived to lose. Still a bs opening 🤣
Kazakhstan’s Rinat Jumabayev is having a fine tournament and has a great opportunity to knock out the second seeded Fabiano Caruana. Here he took his time to execute the very strong 42…h5!
