Got a letter today stating that Fingal CC granted permission 11 days ago for an unlicensed wastewater discharge via Pump Station in Howth without carrying out stage 2 AA/ EIA / dual consent with @EPAIreland . I went to court to ensure this wouldn’t happen again, but here we are.

Of 11.5 million operating costs An Board Pleanala spent 8.2 million on legal fees, up approx 5 million on 2019. In 2020 of 50 legal cases with outcomes in 2020 the board only won 11. Simple adherence to planning & environmental law would likely save on this substantial amount.

Harbour porpoise carcass washed up on Portmarnock beach. Looked like it had been cut out of a net. Have seen a number of seals wash up in similar condition. Very concerning in light of this area being protected by EU law specifically for harbour porpoise.

Did you know that Uisce Eireann/ Irish water can apply for planning permission on your land without your consent? They just have to promise to CPO it later. But the state cant do the same with developers land banks because that would interfere with landowner property rights.

@collieennis Most of the disagreements my landscape architect hubby has with clients is over retaining /replanting trees and shrubs. When he loses he pots them up and brings them home rather than see them in a skip. We have a 24/7 tree nursery in the back garden.

Ms Buckleys comments are in my opinion, quite simply an attack on the judiciary and rule of law. As Chairperson of a quasi judicial state body, such comments are particularly extraordinary. Ms Buckley should resign, her position is untenable.

SIPO probing Varadkar’s undeclared donations from PR firm and Rossa Fanning. A 2019 probe was reopened this year after it emerged that taoiseach had misled it. SIPO had to write to Varadkar again this week as he ignored letter it sent three months ago.

@AlanDub13 Hi Alan did you see if he pulled into one of the building sites, most of the planning permissions snd construction management plans for the builds along this road were granted on the basis that heavy vehicles approach and leave on the coast road and dont come up that way.

The vehicle is not manned and parked which i believe is illegal under The Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997.

@FredPLogue land was not zoned residential when he bought it, He took a risk. He took another risk by not preparing a complete NIS. He took a risk when materially contraving the development plan. He took a risk when he destroyed habitat by not maintaining the site. The risks didnt pay off.

@whittledaway @RDeanBlackwood @noonan_malcolm Happened to Sluice river recently just upstream of a pNHA and SAC/SPA RAMSAR site, also with a JCB. Last week the river just looked like a mud bath with the heavy rain and sediment loading which travelled right to mouth of the River.
