I rmb using NUS admissions as a form of discrimination against the poor and Malays (Malays are more disproportionately poor) in a social work class and the instructor (i don’t even want to call her a lecturer) refuted me by saying that the admission is based solely on merit.

I have a list of unhealthy coping mechanisms now in order to survive at my job. And the pandemic is making it worse. Can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, but can’t see myself staying in direct practice for too long for the sake of my health and sanity

I think as a social worker I benefited a lot from taking classes in political science, economics, history, philosophy and sociology. The social work profession is in dire need of a more eclectic form of practice, lest we become self-righteous in our interventions
