@GailVazOxlade One reason for having a 50% inclusion rate is inflation. Invest $100K in a cottage in 1980 and after 30 years of inflation, it is "worth" $375K - that increase is all inflation and will be taxed. $100K in 1980 = $375K in 2024 Government causes inflation then taxes it.
