It’s New Years Eve - a time for change. But be kind to yourself- if you can’t change it then let it go. Easy to say, hard to do , but essential for your mental health. I give YOU the authority!
They used to say 'behind every great man there is an even greater woman' well I am very grateful for my wonderful husband Stuart - often in the background but ALWAYS there xx
If ever I needed your help it is now. The government is not placing any importance on extending the power to hold virtual meetings. I need you to tell me and your MP why this is important. Local democracy is the foundation of our society and virtual meetings make that happen.
No one could fail to be flattered when someone puts in so much attention and care to produce a piece of needlework in their likeness - Thank you Lady Hannah Cripps:)
I don’t understand what’s going on with covid regs these days.
I thought I followed all the rules but here I am - covid positive, feeling bad and now self isolating for 5 days:(
It is so upsetting that people believe the embarrassing cost of the Cheshire east council investigation is centred around ‘that’ meeting it is not. The behaviour of those three councillors over 18 months is what generated the cost.
Our lives are full of personal successes that few hear about. I finally got my degree in 2017 - all the rest of my family made university much earlier in life! Tell me about your triumphs or aspirations:)

Was made to feel super welcome at the SNP boot camp for young prospective candidates. I’m not party affiliated but want to encourage any involvement in local democracy. Get involved to make a change!
I might be missing the point but as I am watching Eurovision I feel that I would get female empowerment more if as women we felt we could get our message across while wearing more clothes. I accept I might just be old and jealous.
It's essential to be able to continue to hold virtual meetings. They improve accessibility to local democracy from all walks of life. We risk local government being paralysed. I support Mumsnet's campaign for urgent legislation to allow local councils to keep this option.
In a teaser released by CBS, Ms Winfrey tells Meghan and Harry their experiences as royals sounded "almost unsurvivable." Hands up anyone willing to give it a go, or better still which of us is willing to do a life/job swop? ps can I have 'those' earrings?
Amazing harvest of pears this year so Stuart put bags of them outside the gate for people to help themselves to. Someone returned the favour by bringing us a fabulous pear crumble.

Had a great reception from the Young Conservative Women and the Young Lib Democrats but still waiting for an invite to young (or old!) Labour goups - Id love to meet with you - just get in touch (please)
Please do get involved in the forthcoming elections. Check out where you can make a difference and find out how. Thanks to

for making it even easier to find out who you can vote for in your area. Really - there is no excuse not to get involved!
Am I missing the point? A ‘follower’ says ‘you’ve had your 5mins of fame now be quiet’. Why follow someone and ask them to stop tweeting? I have a lot to learn (sigh)
Maybe I’m deaf but I don’t hear the voices of older women with regard to experience or fear of violence. Is this only something that affects the young? Surely not. Help me widen the discussion by sharing your experiences here or at jackieweaver58

I sometimes wonder if media personalities like Katie Price would actually benefit from a real conversation with someone ordinary like me. I would offer that as a fellow human being. I am easy to find.
Excited and apprehensive- jab at Prees medical centre on Saturday. Not good with needles so will be practicing my best distraction techniques:) just need to pull on my big girl pants and get it done!
If like me, you're feeling DEAD TIRED of incessant video calls, you can book one of my friends to take your place. To celebrate seasons 1-10 of

Jab done (had the AZ). Such a fabulous team they were doing nearly 600 of us yesterday and still had smiles and a kind word by lunchtime. Might try Botox next:)
Knitting kept me sane at the start of lockdown. Fortunately Stuart really enjoys his hand knitted socks and has a pair for every day of the week. Which is your favourite?

For me the important issue is does the candidate represent and understand my area. In this instance Lib Dem seems to meet that criteria
Thank goodness - the dogs have started feeding themselves again and the potatoes have remembered how to peel themselves:) Three weeks on and Stuart is doing great after his hip replacement. Amazing progress and so good to have him 'back':)
This is it! I can't believe that it has all come together and I can say 'this is my book'.
It is a little bit serious and a little bit funny but is my take on life.
Do please show your support ... by buying it:)
I can’t believe how quickly our time in guernsey has passed. Not since I left Scotland have I been among such lovely people. They envelop you in the warmth and care they extend to each other. It is a joy to experience and we can’t wait to return.
Congratulations
@helenhalcrow
. This feels to me to be a victory for localism - local people working in and for local communities. Together we can achieve so much!
Really busy week - really appreciate everyones interest - I am nothing without your support. But looking forward to a glass (or 4) of wine tonight with Stuart and a whole day off tomorrow:)
Just had the most amazing day filming celebrity mastermind
@mastermind
terrifying in its own way but the team made it a fabulous experience. Filmed in Belfast and screened around Christmas.
It does seem really precocious to assume you are interested in what’s going on for me. But I’m case you are - holed up in a nice hotel in Leeds ready for an exciting morning with Stephs packed lunch. Pictures of the bathroom on request:)
Just been to vote at our local village hall. All set up with a one way system; hand sanitiser; spare masks; screen for staff etc - brilliant!
Felt safe.
Delighted to be involved in the launch of Brixton Brewery’s new beer, Generation Pale Ale. To purchase Generation Pale Ale in aid of Age UK Lambeth, visit the Brixton Brewery website or head to their taproom in the heart of Brixton. ALL proceeds go to the charity!
I’ve been quiet for a while but this is what I’ve been up to: Make Me Prime Minister - first episode 27th September 9pm C4. Scary, challenging and fun (well, it was for me!)
It’s easy to take each other for granted. Stuart went into hospital for a hip op and all the self cleaning toilets stopped working. The potatoes did not peel themselves and coffee did not appear on my desk. I don’t know what the problem was.
I am married to a lovely man who has extraordinary engineering skills but alas no sense of the aesthetic. Latest - room fragrancer used as a drying rack for teabags (no - we don’t reuse them we compost them!)
It’s a sign!!! I have no idea what it’s a sign of but it is the most beautiful, bright rainbow outside my office window. Just had to share:)
Now where did I put that shovel?
