It was an honour to welcome The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to St John's Primary School in Inverclyde this morning.
They wanted to learn more about our Roots of Empathy programme & speak to Action Director Paul Carberry about how the programme is helping children in Scotland.

Tonight we are holding a civic reception to mark 40 years since the Lee Jeans sit in with these inspirational women who stood up for their rights when the factory they worked in was threatened with closure.

Inverclyde schools are taking part in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme by refunding 50% of the cost of pupils lunches on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from now until the end of August. The money will go back onto pupils accounts in the month of September.
A local minute’s silence will be held at 11am this morning to mark the 80th anniversary of the Greenock Blitz as we remember those who were killed during the two nights of bombings on 6 and 7 May 1941.

will remain closed on Friday 2 March. All school lets for Friday and over the weekend are also cancelled as is the Saturday music centre at Inverclyde Academy. Friday’s official opening of Bluebird nursery will be postponed.
The Scottish Government has announced the closure of Scottish schools and nurseries from the end of the school day on Friday 20 March. We have been working on plans to support our pupils during closure and will announce arrangements as soon as we can.
Inverclyde Leads the Way in Closing the Attainment Gap: The Council’s approach to closing the attainment gap in schools has been described as life-changing and sector-leading by Education Scotland inspectors.
We are supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week by lighting up the Customs House in pink and blue every night until the 15 October. Our thoughts are with everyone who has lost a baby.

100 years of Catholic state education in Scotland has been marked at the official opening of Inverclyde's new £9.2million primary school St Ninian's in Gourock.
The top is back on the Lyle Fountain in Cathcart Square in Greenock. There is still some work to finish off the refurbishment but so far it is looking very good ⛲️
