Talking to a cute girl releases more dopamine in my brain than any other activity. Don’t care if i spent 4 years pursuing a goal. Still not even close.
Just finished applying to grad school + job hunt. Life has lost meaning. Need to:
1. Make new friends/ spend time with existing friends
2. Keep working on my app
I actually don’t think “relaxing” is real.
Whose building Hinge GPT? I dont want to juggle multiple conversations. Does anyone have something that just does banter to get to the first date? And then it just adds the date to ur calendar?
I mean this in a caring way: "the job market is bad rn" is a form of cope. Ppl get hired every day.
1. understanding what ppl want + know how to sell to them
2. get good at what you do
3. get creative in the job hunting process
most of these MIT maker portfolios are better than what college grad engineers can do... makes you think about how good some people are in highschool...
Moving to london uk for internship, anybody know a hackerhouse or student housing I should hit up? Looking to meet college aged people + affordable housing (less than $1k/month)
Know any scrappy
@UWaterloo
kids that are interested in robotics control or mech design looking for winter internships? There will not be any hand holding at the job. My friends robo startup is hiring in montreal. I can connect.
its very ez to be good at only one thing. I believe that the world rewards ppl for being good at many things. Even in highschool nobody looked up to the pure nerd or pure jock. It was always the person who could do many things very well.
I want to build a frontend/ui for web app without doing any html/react coding. Is there a webapp builder ppl like using?
I have code to apply to jobs just want to slap a UI on it for people to start testing.
There are so many robotics jobs these days lol!
- food delivery
- warehousing
- medical
- construction
- self driving companies
- humanoid
- industrial robot arms
Can easily name 10 in each category lol thats at least 70 companies. I remember a time when I thought there were none
How much would you pay a month for a subscription that correlates your vital signs to, phone/laptop screentime, what you work on and sleep and gives you recommendations on how to be more productive and happy?
If there's something you want in this world, you must be willing to give up everything to get it. Only when you are willing to give up everything do you stand a chance at getting the thing that you want. Once you have it you can claw back the things that you lost
Agent hackathon was insane. Good tech insight (
@ivan_yevenko
wit da gpt wrapper). Great collection of people, hard to get this type of signal. Imagine going to a house party and everyone has similar interests as u…thats the vibe. Thanks to
@hud_zah
and
@sincethestudy
We just ran the worlds most impressive and entertaining AI Agent hackathon!
Students competed in challenges like “first agent to order a pizza to the venue” and built agents that work better than most companies demos.
Here's a 🧵of the winners out of 100+ students:
I can only relax when I am super busy. Its like how darkness only exists cuz light does. If my schedule is not packed I have no desire to relax. If I have nothing to work towards ,I get bored out of my mind immediately.
Linkedin speak is the funniest thing on earth that nobody talks about. Fastest way to tell ppl not to connect with you. 🤣. Like there’s literally no wayyy you just said that. “Well deserved”. How do you know they deserved it? How do you know someone didnt work harder?
Its so strange that spotify removed the grid scrolling UI for new releases music. Now its a sideways scroll and you can only see 1 new album at a time….. who did this?
does anyone have advice for getting abs? I'm not willing to cut. What frequency and what exercises are you doing? I think i might unironically have to train abs 5 times a week or smthn to get them to grow
Ask any hiring manager and they will tell you that there is a shortage of "qualified" talent. I don't mean to sound inconsiderate, i understand how tough it is to get a job. If you need advice dm me I can help + check out my yt channel
Fields that I'm interested in rn:
- embodied ai
- introspection on demand (mental health werables)
- agents that interact with the web
- enterprise search/chatting with databases/documents
Mech eng isn’t real. It’s an illusion. It was big in the 18-1900s. All of the new hardware companies that are being built are software enabled. Look at their job postings they aren’t looking for mechs. They want programmers.
Something I learned at the AI hackathon this weeknd:
When you bring up product ideas, ppl will often say "XYZ company is already doing this" --> Then why is nobody talking about XYZ or using it? It's clearly not good enough.
@clayhaight
@adcock_brett
heard on podcast that he reads a crazy number of research papers a week on the mobile robotics space just to keep up to date, so if you can provide him value i think he will respond
There are only 3 logical conclusions that you derive from " the job market is bad rn"
1. i need to become more competitive (i will spend time going to grad school or working on projects or becoming better at interviews)
Whenever you build something nowadays, people in the youtube comments will say "You can just use chatgpt to code this why would I buy this!?!" 😂.
1. First off, No. You can't.
2. You won't.
Brave browser is the only thing that protects me from Youtube’s quadruple ads on a 5 minute video, where youtube serves me 2 ads b4 the vid and then the youtuber includes 2 of their own ads in the vid.
Like bruh can I get a side of video with this ad?
I really really don't mean to be inconsiderate and hope this doesn't come off as such. As soon as you belive that your circumstance is decided by outside factors like the "economy", you lost the game. when u realize u are the only variable that matters, everything changes.
For quite a while I didnt think hardware was going to be in our future. After listening to
@thesamparr
and
@adcock_brett
talk with such confidence I am more convinced that robots will be in the future. Jobs that will benefit from this tho again are software jobs (not mech).
@clayhaight
ETH Zurich (lotta canadians go here), Eliott Rouse from Umichigan builds a robot leg (lots of robot stuff happening at umich), I think if you read a couple recent papers on mobile robotics and dm
@adcock_brett
with a summary of what you learned he will respond to you
There has to be some sort of mindset when playing hinge. Like once you get maybe 3 matches just stop swiping until you end up going out/ rejected by the 3 then you can keep swiping again. Otherwise this feels pointless/overwhelming. Or maybe only talking to ppl who like ur prompt
1000%+ Margin Hardware!
The theragun pro retails for $800 CAD. A Ryobi jigsaw retails for $50 at Homedepot. A 2nd year tron student could literally build the theragun for under $100. All you need is plastic inject moulding and source a slider crank…
Using LLMs to chat with sensor data is crazy. Can you think of any use cases? Seems like it could integrate well with samsara or the boston dynamics dog
@eating_entropy
1. do you use any tools to automate email writing?
2. do you have any good cold email screenshots (like that teenager who worked at snapchat)?
ChatGPT can now see, hear, and speak. Rolling out over next two weeks, Plus users will be able to have voice conversations with ChatGPT (iOS & Android) and to include images in conversations (all platforms).
@yuvrajwl
@micahomnd
Yea totally agree, so many companies on improving physical health but the mind is arguably more important. Imagine tracking all your negative thought patterns, interactions etc. and being able to change it and be happier!
@AviSchiffmann
check da dm. I built api that connects to health data of 100s of wearables. Imagine augmenting your gpt recommendations with that data. I’m YC backed. Want to call you
