For many years, I have said that Alister is my favorite preacher for many reasons. I disagree with him on this one thing, but he is still my favorite preacher. I love him! My goodness! Why can’t we disagree agreeably? Cancel culture is alive and well among Christians. Sad.

Today a sister SBC church allowed me the privilege of baptizing my grandson. I heard a solid expository sermon, a lot about discipleship, and a serious commitment to God’s Word. They have a wonderful Children’s Pastor. But she is female, so some want to kick them out. Ridiculous!

Some things I’ve learned from making hard personnel decisions: 1. No one who is fired ever thinks he deserves it. He is always shocked when it happens. 2. People not in the room always speculate about what they don’t know and often assume bad motives or inappropriate behavior.

Some have suggested I’m not very theologically conservative. I affirm the BFM 2000, Chicago, Nashville, Nicea, Chalcedon the 5 Solas, and the Abstract of Principles. I’m not really sure what the standard is if I don’t meet it.

Just today I’ve seen the following called liberal: @OSHawkins @albertmohler @drjamesmerritt @jdgreear Not only is this slanderous, but it will have the effect of gutting the word of its meaning. The accusers are either ignorant, or they are liars.

I’m bothered by both the uncritical support for “He Gets Us” and the vitriolic reaction against it. I’d lots rather see some sane, well reasoned discourse. But then again, sanity and reason don’t make for clicks and likes, do they?
