I left my very sick father in hospital this evening in the care of a group of wonderful people, the majority of whom were not born in this country. I came out & Dublin is on fire. I am so angry with these boys & men attacking our city. How dare they claim to be protecting me.

I am really struggling to get my head round the fact that someone would burn down a hotel rather than see it provide refuge for fellow humans. A councillor then blaming the government, attempting to justify it & threatening more of the same.

My dad has dementia.I spent 20 mins in nursing home today looking for a member of staff. I’d been asking for a pillow for 3 days. I regularly have to ask for water for my father. We pay €4k+ pm. My father is lucky he has regular visits & us advocating for him. Not everyone has.
Private nursing homes are not within the remit of the HSE's safeguarding policy, even though they represent 80% of all nursing homes.
This means that HSE social workers do not have a legal right to enter their premises.
Robust safeguarding legislation is urgently needed.
Less than 4% of our cycling infrastructure target met. I’m generally an optimist person but these stats do not lie. I’ve never in my working life missed a target by such epic proportions. Cycle lanes should be the easiest part of our climate action policies.
Greater Dublin Area (GDA) Cycle Network Plan was published in 2013 & proposed an additional 2,400km of urban, inter-urban & greenway cycle routes by 2020 & set a target of 1 in 10 trips by bike.

How children travel to school has changed dramatically in 30 years between 1986 & 2016.

introducing a bill that would, if passed bring in to law the most sensible public housing policy. It’s really simple, don’t waste money leasing houses, own them.
The system isn’t broken, it’s working exactly as designed. Local government in Ireland has been systematically eroded by centralisation & privatisation. We have been stripped of autonomy, funding & functions. People in Ireland deserve a high standard functioning local government.
The vast majority of Irish people are “concerned”or “very concerned” about the impact of climate change & know that the beef industry is a major cause. The science is clear. I do not believe these 3 are acting in the best interest of the majority of the people of this island.
