Thank you Greenbelters for the love and respect you show our beautiful festival home here at Boughton. You’ve done it again.
#LeaveNoTrace
#TravelLight
Thank you Greenbelters – as usual – for being the most conscientious and caring festival-goers. This is how you left our campsite field on Tuesday. Not a leftover tent, or bit of rubbish in sight. Every year you do us proud.
#LeaveNoTrace
#TravelLight
Just to say – we read the House of Bishops’ statement & we wanted to say:
At
@greenbelt
we remain resolutely inclusive. As our manifesto says:
“we’re still somewhere that welcomes anyone & everyone”
"We’re Greenbelt.
We’re somewhere to believe in.”
We’re gutted to say that we're having to cancel Greenbelt Festival for a second year. We've worked to the wire to try and go ahead. But we can't go any further without insurance. We're heartbroken, but still hopeful. We're down. But we're not quite out.
You’ve outdone yourselves. A huge thanks for packing up your tents and cleaning up your campsite rubbish. Check out this photo of our campsite field from Wed, a little later than usual, but taken after the very last volunteer had packed up. Truly beautiful work!
#LeaveNoTrace
We might not all be in the same boat, but we are definitely all in the same storm. Here's why there won't be a 47th Greenbelt festival this summer. And no, we can't believe we've written that sentence either.
That's a wrap. From us, from our whole team, from all 8 days of festival, thank you for coming and we hope to see you next year for the full-fat festival we all love.
This is Andrew.
He's a seasoned Greenbelter and has created some of our most recent (and memorable) Sunday Communion Services.
@AndrewGraystone
We salute you. Top peacemaking.
We are literally the only festival in the world where, right now, you can choose between beer and hymns and a secret gig by a Russian feminist protest punk rock and performance art group. Stick that in your pipe Reading!
#GBWildAtHome
Goodbye and thanks for an amazing festival. Thanks to all our artists, volunteers and crew.
And in the absence of the annual staff photo we present the
@greenbelt
staff for 2019....live at the OK Chorale 💚
See you in 2020 - Wild at Heart
The clocks are going forward soon, BFT (British Festival Time) is almost here and we can at last give you a glimpse of the first wave of names confirmed for this year’s festival – our 50th anniversary. 👀
#GB50
We’re delighted that our friends
@MethodistGB
have today voted to allow same-sex marriages in their churches. (They join another of our friends
@UnitedReformed
who did the same just a few years back.) Way to go. And just before
#Pride
month ends.

“And the love we have each other
Will defeat the hate we suffer
You're my sisters, brothers, and all that's in between
And if everything that I'm made of
Was fashioned by your God above
It was Him [sic] that gave this kind of love to me“ –

Hands down that was one of the best Greenbelts ever. It may well be all over for another year, but the good news is that we’re already planning next year’s – and it's our 50th. Choose your ticket now and spread your costs over monthly instalments:

Here it is. Our 2022 lineup. We hope you agree it looks like a (green) belter of a festival. It’s time to enjoy the full festival celebration of artistry, activism and belief that we’ve all been yearning for. It’s time to wake up with Greenbelt.

It's here.

Pip Wilson: You Are Beautiful. We learned of the death of our dear friend and festival-maker Pip overnight (Fri 22 Sep). We'll pay our tributes to him in the coming days, but for today we're sharing his reflection from our 50th anniversary book.
We just wanted to say how overwhelming and wonderful it is to see the outpouring of love for this shared space we all make each year together. Thank you so much from all the team and our spectacular volunteers.
Also...SEE YOU NEXT YEAR YOU FLIPPING 10S!
We would like to add our support to
@Youngfathers
for their commitment to the cultural boycott of Israel, highlighting the human rights of the Palestinian people
Yep - it's that time of year. We've turned the box office off for 24 hours as part of

.
Why not do something new today instead? Try a cyr wheel for example! Or just a spot of hula hooping perhaps?

We are all Pussy Riot
"A new generation of evangelicals is craving non-judgemental spaces where they can ask hard questions.”
Can we politely suggest they come to

festival? We’ve been making that sort of space for 45 years. Always room for more. Doubts and all.

We're somewhere to party and pray. Part festival, part family. Somewhere the sacred meets the secular. We're almost done for this year but we're not quite ready to say goodbye. We're somewhere to believe in. One more night, Greenbelt. Let's make it a good one.

As it always does on a Sunday morning at Greenbelt, everything stopped for an hour or so this morning as thousands of us came together for Communion. We broke bread with each other and with our friends at the Tent of Nations outside Bethlehem.
Greenbelt, you were beautiful as ever. Extra special to be hosting in Shelter all weekend with a gorgeous team. danced a lot, listened a lot, learned a lot, cried a bit & slept not nearly enough. I am refilled & refuelled by this little slice of heaven on earth. 🫶🏻
We had a different post in mind for today: the next in our series of profiles for
#LGBTHM21
. But given the pile-on that followed Revd
@JarelRB
's tweet about Captain Tom Moore, we’ve switched things around in order to profile Jarel instead [1/5]
Today we finally achieved our goal of securing pledges to get 50 refugees resettled for
@greenbelt
's 50th birthday. This is a massive achievement, thank you Greenbelters!!
We're still here to talk if you want to host or help find hosts.
"Was on the dancefloor at 1 in the morning last night in the Hot House. Highlight was watching a Franciscan nun belt out "Gimme Gimme Gimme (a man after midnight)".

Some
#GB22
stats to kick-start your weekend.
📈 11,500+ people joined us in the fields
🚌 And took 1,455 journeys in our free shuttle bus
💪 The festival was made possible by 1,020(ish) volunteers
👕 768 of you own a new Greenbelt tee
💰 And you donated £38K+ during our Communion
Our small army of volunteers have been working their magic onsite, transforming the green fields of Boughton into our festival home. The plans have been laid, the signs painted and the sheep moved to quieter fields. We’re almost ready for you.

“Rachel’s presence in this world was a gift to us all and her work will long survive her.” We are so saddened to hear of the all-too early death of
@rachelheldevans
... our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
The Tiny Tea Tent is surely one of the best festival experiences. Sustainable, rootsy and beautiful. It’s been a tough time for festival traders. So please, for all those heading to the farm this weekend, show the Tiny Tea Tent some love. Let’s put the spring back in their step.
In 2012

Some people write us off as a festival that believes anything it wants to. Most of those people haven’t actually been of course. But let’s put that gently to one side. If those people did come to Greenbelt to see for themselves, what would they *actually* find? 🧵
We did it! We reached our ticket goal. In fact – thanks to you – we exceeded it and so we don’t need to change our ticket prices. When we first came up with our pay-what-you-can ticketing model we knew it was a risk. And if it didn’t pay off we might need to change tack. 🧵 [1/3]
Dear Greenbelters, loving your thoughts, moments + memories of

We present Greenbelt 2018: Acts of the Imagination 💭💡🌱. The Film.

Thanks to the amazing

for the film and

It seems people are abandoning writing their own sermons for tomorrow and instead will be showing the

Interesting things about

:
🍞 all the bread at communion will be gluten free and is being freshly baked by a local bakery
🔌 we're using a hybrid generator for the first time
✨ you can get your festival glitter on from our new Sparkle Squad with their eco-friendly glitter
When comedian James Acaster came to the festival in '17, it wasn't what he thought it would be. Expecting to find a bunch of people in a field, all agreeing with each other, instead, he found a place where it's okay to disagree and share different opinions, without being judged.
Greenbelt turns 50 next year. It’s a landmark moment that offers us a chance to reflect, take stock and glimpse the future ahead. So in 2023 we’ll be making two changes to Greenbelt that we’re excited to tell you about... [1/5]
But we still haven't found what we're looking for. Thank you
@chrisreadmusic
and
@TheGloryFires
and the band for closing out another year in style. See you next year?

Ok. So. We've made a mistake. For some it might be quite a thing so we're owning up before you arrive. The thing is, we've accidentally left
#beerandhymns
out of the Daily Diary! It's in the app. It's in the guide. You just need to add it in on Monday, 2.25, Jesus Arms! 🍻

As a person of no faith and having recently married into the CofE I didn't quite know what to expect from my first
@greenbelt
. Yes, Christianity is front and centre, but it is also an incredibly diverse, inclusive and radical festival. Absolutely loved it, esp OK Chorale!
Our thoughts and prayers are with those around the world who cannot be with those they love this Easter. We know this will be painful. But we also know that, because of the hope of today, this too will pass. As we sang at our service in 2016, 'One Day...'
Last night was a blast. That’s it. At least for now. What a weekend. We’re sad to see you go. But loved being together. Tickets for

are now on sale. Will we see you there?
BIG NEWS for some of you longterm hardcore Greenbelters out there. Greenbelt favourites,

We are SO excited to announce that

We begin our Sunday so thankful that Jack, our missing person from last night, has been found and is safe.
Now it's time to get stuck into our last full festival day. Let's make Sunday special 😉
We're really sorry for any offence caused by the billing of our ‘A Is For Autism’ session. We are reworking the wording & to be clear the session will involve autistic people & will include a conversation re language. We're grateful for wisdom shared which has helped us & others.
It's our final day together in the fields – at least until next year – and so far it's been a cracking one. After explosive performances last night. We've brought in our final day with conversations about feminism, science, spirituality and poetry. There's much more to come.
“Sometimes strident, often tender, never afraid and seldom without humour, Desmond Tutu‘s voice will always be the voice of the voiceless.” Nelson Mandela describing his friend Desmond Tutu, who has died, aged 90, today.
Because your response since we announced we were cancelling the *full-blown* festival has been overwhelming, it's reminded us that what we'll miss most is **you**. So, we're working hard on shaping up our '**Plan B**'. We'll be ready to share it with you in full next Tuesday.
Way too quick. Way too soon. Our love and prayers are with
@drbexl
’s family and friends at this so, so sad time. We are so thankful for all she gave into the life of our festival community. Not least by just being her, with us.
I’m desperately sad to tell you that our unique and precious friend
@drbexl
died this afternoon. There will be much more to say later. For now, know that she lived joyfully and died peacefully, and she is now safe in the loving arms of God.
#BeMoreBex
We are humbled and happy to be able to share our new festival film with you. "For 50 years we misfits have been fitting in together." That's all of us. Together. We hope you love reliving it. See you there next year.
@mantofilms
This time last week thousands of us gathered in the Glade Arena for our 2022 festival communion. We put the climate crisis centre stage. If you weren’t able to join us, or would like to re-listen, we’ve made the communion audio and liturgy free to access:
Glade stage is going up, beautiful structures are taking shape, and paths are being plotted – deep into the woods. Greenbelt is beginning to emerge.

At
@greenbelt
we've tried to be a space of recovery & healing; giving people time to explore new, life-affirming ways of embracing faith & sexuality. Our experience is that these journeys so often lead people to finding God, waiting for them. That's why we've signed this letter.
Calling Christian leaders who support the ban!
You’ve probably seen that many have signed a letter against a full ban on conversion therapy, but we’re calling you to demonstrate that love is louder then fear!
Read and sign here:

It’s Greenbelt week! And just a few days until we’ll be welcoming many of you back to the fields of dreams. In the meantime, we’re busy marking out, stringing up bunting and constructing stages. Building the place lots of us call 'home'.
#GB22
We’re really pleased to say that everywhere is now OPEN. We’d like to say thank you to all Greenbelters for your patience and smiles. We’ve had to wait for the all-clear on our venues that are in the beautiful trees here at Boughton, and that’s been a fair few of them. [1/2]
We're proud to be an LGBTQ+ affirming space. A place of encounter for all of us – with one another, with our lives, and with God. We asked our
@outatgreenbelt
team to give us some of their favourite moments at the festival. Here’s some highlights from what they told us. 🧵
