President Joe Biden is meeting with Gov. Josh Shapiro for a literal coffee, across from the state Capitol building at Denim Coffee. Biden put a $20 in the tip jar.

Just saw the new
@Apple
iPhone commercial. Young girl, filming with phone, dressed suggestively, keying a car, trashing a room and so on. Pathetic promoting this is how a young women should act.
Doug Emhoff says he might sleep on Nov. 4, but until then he’ll be stumping to get out the vote in Lancaster and Pennsylvania. (Must add: he said Lancaster right)
Here in York this afternoon for a campaign event for Democrat Lt. Gov. John Fetterman’s campaign for U.S. Senate. This is a red county that supported former President Trump with ~62% of the vote in 2020
surprise! Rep. Mark Rozzi, a Berks County Democrat, is the new speaker of the Pennsylvania House. He'll lead the chamber that technically doesn't even have a majority of the members
Scenes from my one-woman picket outside the state Capitol. I should be preparing for the election, or covering the actions of the state Senate today. Instead I’m on strike with

BREAKING: A Lancaster, Pa. judge will revisit the $1 million bail set for protesters charged with arson, riot and other charges tomorrow. The bail amount was met with a public outcry, denouncing it as "unconstitutional."
I’m in Erie for former President Donald Trump’s rally tonight. Most interesting thing I’ve seen so far: mail ballot applications. Pennsylvania’s no-excuse mail voting law was a core part of Trump’s 2020 election lies. Now his campaign is collecting mail ballot apps.
What’s next? I’ll be starting at
@PittsburghPG
as their Harrisburg bureau chief in a few weeks (!!!). More TK, but in the meantime, feel free to slide into my DMs with tips 🤫
Now Biden just departed Harrisburg. As he got on Air Force One, he responded to the press. Couldn’t hear him, but someone said he said “I’m up for the job.”
Today is the 10-year anniversary of my mom’s death. I’ve been spending the last few weeks thinking about how I could honor her memory. She was an amazing and faithful woman, who loved local politics.
Hailey Peterson and Lily Temple, who are both 13 and 8th graders at Manheim Central Middle School, said this is their first Trump rally but they’ve supported the president in local parades, etc. “He is doing a better job than any other person with the coronavirus,” Temple said.
As Mehmet Oz took the stage, he got some applause. This was followed by some "RINO" chants.
"Do you want Fetterman then?" someone responded from the stands.
"No, but [Oz is] a RINO."

Approximately 150 Pennsylvanians are protesting outside the State Capitol Building in Harrisburg this morning, calling on Treasurer Stacy Garrity to divest its bonds from Israel
The entire story is immensely powerful, and I hope you’ll read it. I’m sure it’ll stick with you like it’s stuck with me since 2017. Dr. Goldberg was the head of trauma surgery at Temple University Hospital in Philly, the hospital with the most gun shooting victims in the state.
current status: writing and deleting tweets because trying to describe what’s happening in the Pennsylvania General Assembly right now is quite challenging in under 280 characters!!!!
Do you know anyone who's really proud to be a Pennsylvanian? Like, as proud as Philly people are to be Philadelphians?
I've lived in Pittsburgh, Williamsport & Philly and can't think of single person I've met who's been like "Pennsylvania! Hell yeah!"
A group of Democratic lawmakers and members of Philadelphia City Council are in Harrisburg today to call on the General Assembly to invest $1 billion per year for 5 years to fix the state’s toxic schools.

@CarterLNP
with a big story today: State Sen. Doug Mastriano, the state’s GOP nominee for governor, has a “personal security detail” that includes at least one former Oath Keepers leader
Leading that security team is James Emery, a LifeGate church congregant and an Elizabethtown School Board member. But Emery is also accompanied by four other members of LifeGate, including Scott Nagle, who until recently was listed as a regional leader in the Oath Keepers
Sherry Yocum, of Allentown, came to the Lancaster rally instead of Trump’s rally in Allentown because she had already gotten tickets before that rally was announced. “I’ll stand in all kinds of weather to see Trump,” she said.

i'm down the rabbit hole on a couple of stories right now but PHEW this is something:

's Lancaster city office sign is covered with a "Guilty of sedition" poster, as an attack on the U.S. Capitol is underway. I'm assuming a constituent put this up in protest of Smucker's decision to object to the state's electors. Photos via

I will be honest, I didn't expect this to be controversial!!! It was a subtweet at national folks!
PA is not a Midwest swing state with Michigan and Wisconsin. It's just not!
I will concede there is some Midwestern influence in Western PA, but it's Appalachia if anything
This is your reminder that
@PGHGuild
members are STILL on strike and have been for 144 days. I hope leaders at
@PittsburghPG
will finally bargain in good faith and get their talented employees back to work ‼️‼️
Pennsylvania House Democrats just called for the House to suspend the rules and consider an assault weapons ban, in light of the
#Uvalde
shooting. Effort fails in the GOP-controlled House, 87-111.
And to save myself more pain, I said “literal coffee” in the first tweet because having POTUS come meet you for coffee is funny! That’s where I have coffee meetings!
An attorney from
@aclupa
said they are heartened the bail was reduced for Lancaster, Pa. protesters, but “ it does not undo the fact that the $1 million bail orders were flagrantly illegal.”
The House LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus denounced a proposal sponsored by state Sen. Doug Mastriano to reclassify drag shows in the same category as adult bookstores and strip clubs.

, who pointed out that the guy on far right is James Emery, an elected school board member in Elizabethtown. He won last November w/ a slate of candidates who attended Jan. 6 who pushed against masks, CRT, etc. He frequently works as “security” for Mastriano
Guy in the middle has worked as “security” for FreePA out in Lancaster. He told me his name is Joe. There’s a ton of overlap b/w “Patriot” groups like FreePA (who always remove the press) and Mastriano: both gained influence during the ReOpen PA movement in early pandemic
Hello from Mount Joy Borough, where 5 GOP gubernatorial candidates and 4 Senate candidates are appearing before the Lancaster GOP. We found out after arriving that press wasn’t allowed, even if we got tickets.
The short security guy blocking us from going in just told me he loves the press, loves freedoms, loves America. I told him this is not a picture of freedom and he threatened to call the cops.
Rep. Mike Zabel (D., Delaware) said he won’t resign, in a letter to his colleagues today. He will, however, resign from his spot on the Judiciary committee. He was accused in at least three reports this week of sexual harassment
President Joe Biden arrives in Harrisburg for his next set of campaign stops in the battleground state. Lt. Gov. Austin Davis is his first greeter as he gets off the plane. Gov. Josh Shapiro will meet with the president later today, per a spox.
Joanna McClinton controls any room she walks into -- now including the chamber of the Pennsylvania House. More insider her rise to the top as the first female speaker. Oh also, she has a knack for impressions?
