NOTE: I am currently sharing old newspaper articles about Quilp aka John (Jacky) Baramba Lynch, an Australian Indigenous soccer player from the early 1900s. Some articles reflect views and language of the time which may offend. I certainly do not agree with those views.
@LucyThack
This is upsetting. How is living in housing commission relevant? I grew up in housing commission in the same area. A lot of different people lived there, from a lot of backgrounds. We don't need to know. I feel for the family.

@LegoLostAtSea
Do not throw it back. One less thing in the sea which should not be there (if we forget the romance for a second). Best open and make its journey purposeful.
A soccer game in Australia in 1878. Germanton near Albury and the Yarra Yarra team would be named after the creek. Said to be the first game in the colonies

The doctor up here said it was because the parents have run out of leave because semi-regular covid tests eating up their leave one to three days at a time. Thus a rhinovirus went through Queensland schools in June because kids went sick.
For the last few years I set myself the task of listening to 100 albums I never heard before, old and new. The first one this year was the 80s pop of ABC's The Lexicon of Love.
@jessradio
Soccer in the UK during WWI - Women's factory teams played, then after the war women were effectively banned from playing. There's a lot of details about it on the web.

Day 2 - Uni or Business
Ral Donner - Poison Ivy League
At my poor, provincial Uni I dreamt of wearing top-tier college ties, until I met those who did.
#GameofPopLife
Day 17 - Television
Mental As Anything - Possible Theme for a Future TV Drama Series
Stuck as a doctor, still dreaming of making music. So maybe I can do soundtracks.
#GameofPopLife
Day 24 - The Toll Bridge
Thomas Leer and Robert Rental - Monochrome Days
(from Off The Bridge)
Another grey day, another toll to pay. Things are starting to feel... monotonous...

Day 1 - Car Colour.
Arve Henriksen - Blue Silk
We've just been born. Not much shape to life yet. Anything is possible. Strangely have a licence though.
Really happy for Dan Hall. From starter at Mariners to benched by the rise of Triantis and arrival of Kaltak. Benched at start of this season but now back as first choice and Mariners look better for it.
@neilsherwin
The rain has seen schools closed over there. There has been advise to stay home. Public transport with heaps of delays. Not sure it is a crowd to worry about.

Day 6 - Blackmail by the Butler
The Runaways - Blackmail
I'm not sure how the butler discovered my attempted teenage pop demos, by my options were to pay up or go on the run.
#GameofPopLife
Day 8 - Status Symbol
Peter Hammill - His Best Girl
"Foot down in the G Ti Cabriolet to the villa in the south of France."
My visitors were giving off really strange vibes.
@GrogsGamut
I love how the first thing the article alleges is you economists want to take everyone's decent tax cuts away, before going on to give loads of good reasons why they should be scrapped. Basic journo training used to teach most people only read the start of articles.

Day 14 - Stock Market (Up or Down)
Ani Difranco - Up Up Up Up Up Up
Good thing I grabbed those stocks in MySpace early. There is only one way they are going to go.
@VinceRugari
Would not be surprised. This is the phase where reality will bite. I will be also interesting to know as teams drop out whether expenditure on their NPL Senior Men's squads will also drop as they are no longer jockeying for a NSD position.
@CameronAtfield
What annoys me more is that it is Strikers, City and Lions. Just three of the biggest clubs in the state, one of which doesn't even have a senior women's program. The haves have more.

Day 13 - Sue For Damages
Lazy Susan - Bobby Fischer
Susan's lazy claim that no one says Reykjavik in a song led to damages being paid to John Cale and Hank Snow among others. I did warn her.

Day 28 - Gold!
Golden Palominos - Heaven (You Have To Be In Hell To See Heaven)
I am surrounded by gold, but I really wanted a gold record. Call this heaven?
#GameofPopLife
Day 31 - The End
David Thomas and Two Pale Boys - Prepare for the End
My blue car is dying. My house burned down. I have a stack of money. And a giant frown. Time to slow down and put on another record.
#GameofPopLife
Day 5 - Win a Quiz Show
My Little Airport - 已婚男人
(Married Man - off the album 適婚的年齡/The Right Age For Marriage)
I'm wedded to the translation provided by Discogs for the album title.
@QuentinHull
And Olympic sport soccer gets nothing. Again. And after the trashed pitches at Suncorp and Ballymore in the last two weeks. (Would it not be cheaper to do temporary seating at Springfield?)
#GameofPopLife
Day 21 - Speculate on the Stock Exchange
Wells, Whitehead etc - Pick Up Sticks
After the MySpace debacle, surely my Tumblr stock has an upward trajectory.
#GameofPopLife
Day 15 - Status Symbol
Art of Noise - Crusoe (The Ambient Collection version)
Oh, I remember buying this Art Collection. I should get someone to dust in here occasionally.
@JohnFinnemore
A few on here I would have picked so I will add Lindsey Davis The Ides of April. After recognising the Falco books had their course, this was a much-needed reset of that world. Flavia Albia a great protagonist.
Just found out woth the Queensland v NSW games on Sat the men they will be competing for the Gibb – Masters Cup and in the women for the Watson – O’Connor Cup.

It wasn't the first ever women's football game in Australia. It was the first game under an attempted association. I will die on this hill I know it.
@peoples_pop
I nominated Voon. I first heard the song on Craig Pillings overnight show on the Student Radio Network, which I could stream to the other side of the world. I emailed and asked him what that song was and he sent me the compilation Havock Junction, a comp of Leicester bands.
For all the good things to do with FQ rejigging the Queensland leagues, the worst is the start of yet another SportsTG DB, unconnected to the last 9 years of NPL or FB comps. So a third SportsTG database to check for career stats.
Just realised that was the first time I've been on radio since
I hosted my last show 2011? Thanks to
@IanSyson
and
@PaulMavroudis
for the invitation, and
@DinmoreBushrats
for some amazing history and getting the club back together. You can listen back below.
Scull is likely John Alfred Scull, former Halifax Town, and Idle FC football player who came to Melbourne in early 1927, and played until his family followed him in August.
