Wheelchair users have been trying for ages to raise awareness about their wheelchairs being broken so often when they fly, and the devastating impact this has on them.
@AmericanAir
baggage handlers decided to give a demonstration of how much they enjoy breaking them 😡
i’ll never forget the time i visited a women’s concentration camp when i was studying the holocaust and someone asked the tour guide about sa from guards. he responded that “it didn’t make sense” for the Jewish women to be assaulted because they were considered disgusting.
the ironic thing is that the fact they think this is proof itself of "pretty privilege" because women deemed undesirable who are assaulted are erased thru the belief no one would "want" them.
Black people are such cultural trailblazers we are now actively trying to bring white lingo back to the mainstream because white people are incapable of that level of influence and innovation themselves
the narrative that undesirable women do not experience sexual harassment and assault literally contributes to the erasure of forms of genocidal violence on the very grounds it occurred on.
the fact that “self care” became about consumption and indulgence rather than sustainability and survival lets me know a lot of y’all do not know what care is.
the worst part about the food delivery conversation is that often the meal you order is the only meal you eat that day. thats why it makes me sick when people ask “but if theyre disabled how do they afford to order food anyway?”
we need to talk about how housing being so unaffordable and inaccessible is directly responsible for millions of abuse victims not being able to escape their abusers.
even the people responsible for educating people on genocide and gendered violence misunderstand and misrepresent violence against maGes, especially those who are racialized and vilified by the societies they live in.
in “unmasking autism,” the autistic author describes how he learned more about autism in one conversation w a diagnosed autistic person than he learned in his entire time receiving a phd in psychology.
how can you tell me therapy is for everyone?
the thing about therapy in the west ime is that they will give you tools to cope with your oppression, but never tools to dismantle your oppression. there is so much that goes unaddressed because your primarily goal is to be able to go back to work and not make a fuss.
something i resent is when people say “it’s not too late for you to change your mind” when it comes to genocide and eugenics.
maybe it’s not too late for you, but it’s definitely too late for thousands of people who are dead now because millions of other people did nothing.
yall claim to not be ableist or hate disabled people but then spend hours justifying refusing to accommodate us and essentially arguing that us being alive is unethical and unreasonable
white people are incapable of understanding what it’s like to experience antiblackness. a lot of them genuinely feel like we are exhilarated and excited by the opportunity to call out antiblackness as a “gotcha”. they don’t understand that we are responding to legitimate harm.
“histrionic” “narcissistic” “needs help” “should be put in an institution” all how people on here choose to pathologize basic forms of self-advocacy, implicitly threatening to leverage the state to silence and incarcerate people that they disagree with/want to dispose of.
cis white women ime have a unique sense of entitlement to SA Black people bc they deem themselves incapable of perverted or predatory behavior on the basis of their identity.
WOMEN OF THE YEAR: Cate Blanchett and Angela Bassett discuss the causes they work for, as they were honored for creating an impact in their communities by TIME magazine.
so many trans men have almost no experiences in common with cis men.
defining cis men's experiences as the standard of "real manhood" and then acting like trans men are real men, and therefore just like cis men is not only erasure but gender essentialism.
i can’t say i’m surprised about the way white people w adhd and/or autism have colonized the term neurodivergent, directly enabling further erasure of everyone else who fits under the neurodivergent umbrella (folks w dyslexia, down syndrome, personality disorders, epilepsy, etc.)
people love talking about bodily autonomy when it’s time to put on a mask, meanwhile they’ve made public spaces inaccessible and dangerous to tens of thousands of people. what about their autonomy? to go to the grocery store or doctor and not die?
if we want to talk about masking in leftist spaces, we have to talk about autonomy & direction. a lot of y’all are very anti-autonomy and want to tell everyone what to do. i’m an outspoken stubborn fuck but i’m not telling someone who lives in a shelter what to do ever
did u know most germans who were alive during the holocaust completely deny any knowledge or blame even though that is provably false? and many still live in houses stolen from jewish victims, full of stolen goods, benefitting from the wealth they received during the holocaust?
therapy is built to keep productive people productive, to teach justifiably distressed people to be comfortable in a world that is outright hostile to them, to commodify basic social support to put a bandaid on systematic alienation.
like we have to do the work every time. somehow it’s our jobs to remind white people who they are and what behavior is actually appropriate for them culturally. it’s actually so sick
@fridahalo
we were meant to have community members who we grew up with our whole lives and understood what our specific needs are to heal us. when therapy doesn't work, you're taught your the problem even when the system was never equipped to deal with your problems anyway.
it’s “be ungovernable” until it comes to covid. then it’s “well isn’t it the government’s job to take care of us? they handled covid wrong and now it’s unreasonable to ask me to wear a mask until the government tells me to”
Soon this will be 3 years old. Countless needs gone unmet cuz yall r complicit in killing disabled black folks. Jude, my mom, changed her goal to reflect the depth of her ongoing condition. Will someone show up finally? Or is care reserved for—rhetorical.
both queerness and neurodivergence are indicators of the vast diversity of human experiences and yet both get watered down to connote only the most privileged of people’s identities, to the point where they actively gatekeep against those who deviate from their experiences.
why is it that the basic skills of social support and conflict resolution only get taught to people becoming therapists? why is that knowledge gatekept? because the market doesn’t need us to have healthy relationships, it needs us to perform labor.
revolutionary discipline isn’t exclusive to being able to fight or understand dense theory, it’s also about having the patience and compassion to collaborate with your community who is bound to have a diverse set of needs and abilities. a lot of y’all are missing that.
it makes me angry bc all the money yall spend on concerts, bars, indoor dining, etc. could be put into feeding, housing, and caring for your community. with the added benefit of reducing covid spread. but yall double down on your bs every. time.
we are living w the ramifications of “differently abled”. now a lot of people think they are progressive for seeing disabled people as Abled Lite because thats the only way they personally know how to humanize us: seeing us as an abled (default) person but slightly different
people always argue that trans men can have "male privilege" (whatever the fuck that means) and always point to the most privileged people in our community who in no way reflect the majority of our experiences.
this is so fascinating bc in my experience white people only show any ounce of solidarity w mixed Black people when it’s an opportunity to commit violence toward Black people who aren’t mixed. at least you are consistent w ur antiblackness.
5770 left to raise for a sudanese family trying to escape the war! they’ve been trying to reach this goal since January. let’s not let them down
#KeepEyesOnSudan
i’m aware there are outliers, therapists who are culturally competent, who are committed to unlearning white supremacy, ableism, transphobia, etc. but those people are outliers. that is a systemic failure.
the state and the market would not allow therapy to exist if it actually had revolutionary potential. it would not give therapists authority if it did not trust that therapists would use their authority in the interests of the state and market.
i’m never gonna stop supporting mutual aid efforts. but it does make me sick to my stomach how we spend weeks trying to reach a financial goal, and then all that money lines the pockets of some corporate empire. just so someone can have food in their stomach and a bed to sleep in

a white cis tiktoker will make a relatable video complaining about shit Black and indigenous trans disabled people have been screaming for literal centuries and suddenly have a massive platform and huge reach
it’s so frustrating that people insist on pathologizing and diagnosing abusers as if abuse and abuse culture isn’t instrumental in the maintenance of colonial domination and capitalism.

there is nothing innate to being a man that makes men abusive, toxic, privileged, etc.
access to patriarchal power is not intrinsic to what it means to be a man or male. if that were true, we would be fighting for the abolition of manhood as opposed to abolition of patriarchy.
happy 4/20, stoners. this is a friendly reminder to stand in solidarity with other drug users and those who have been incarcerated due to the exact drug you are using and celebrating openly today. 🍃
they’re comfortable disposing of Black people who refuse to be silent about people contributing to our very real material oppression because they will never understand why it’s necessary to the visceral level we do.
please support Nosaiba Yousef and his beautiful family and help them rebuild their lives in Gaza

that’s why we are approaching year five of the pandemic and y’all still struggle with the concept of basic public health practices. that’s why y’all continue to devalue and belittle the Black and indigenous maGes that make our survival possible.
white lgbtqia+ people have done the exact same shit. now that white people get representation they can be satisfied w, everyone else is accused of being divisive when we are striving for our liberation.
sick to my stomach thinking about all the americans who will be more outraged at the outcome of a football game than at the massacres occurring in rafah
this is because whiteness is a settler colonial project intent on eugenics and genocide. white people are hellbent on respectability and assimilation snd through the process demonstrate how disposable they see everyone else. they are the center of their politics, no one else.
Black people openly speaking up about antiblackness are defects of the “good, docile negro” they believe the majority of Black people to be. this monolithic understanding of Black folk, to them, is what makes them “incapable of being racist” when it is in fact violently antiblack
hey y'all, bewsting the MA ask for a moot on private!

it is so dangerous to tell trans men that on the basis of being men, we need to be silent and that if we are disagree or challenge any woman, we are committing patriarchal violence. this rhetoric protects our abusers and encourages people to never listen to us.
a marginalized person simply explaining their circumstances should not be met with this kind of outrage and harassment. that is not normal. that is symptomatic of a culture completely uncurious about other humans and hostile to the proposition of caring for and about each other.
irl is often unsafe bc a lot of people prioritize the comfort of people society already affords safety over the safety of the marginalized people they're supposedly building community to protect. accountability for harm is often treated as "divisiveness"
i’m seeing a lot of emphasis on building irl community and while that is def important, the way it’s talked about sometimes makes me feel a bit icky. particularly the “talk to your neighbors” part. bc it’s really not that easy and i’m not seeing much consideration in the convos.
this framing is classic white feminism, though it's not exclusively perpetuated by white cis women. it functions to silence trans men and erase the very real harm we experience, especially at the hands of cis women in particular.
i think the reason people are so resistant to the idea that "all these people" are finding out they're neurodivergent (other than blatant ableism) is because whether it's conscious or subconscious, they really expect the system to be working effectively.
we need experts in mental health and healers in order to liberate ourselves. there is a lot of potential in providing therapeutic tools specifically for the goal of sustaining our movement’s longevity and momentum and of building safe and effective systems of cooperation.
an ideology that protects white femininity at all costs is not one that will liberate anyone. listen to trans men. we are not a monolith and many of us, especially Black trans men, have really important stories regarding sw, disability, sexual violence, and more.

the way people are treating Black trans people who criticize the Barbie movie is so weird (but also predictable). why do you expect us to love a movie that was clearly made to please cis yt women first and foremost?
my Black biracial siblings were touched the same way almost every day of our lives while living w our white mother.
i literally cannot count the amount of times ive been SA’d by yt girls and was taught to react the same way angela does in this video. so triggering.
in my experience, therapists focus on you/your mind as the source of your struggles. they treat our feelings and concerns about oppression and liberation as distractions and cognitive distortions. that’s why a lot of, if not most, therapists are cop-adjacent
i used to have nightmares about being the only unmasked person in public. but now i have nightmares about being in public without my mask when everyone else is also unmasked.
actually maybe its ok that people are expected to be "perfect" when "perfect" means consistently masking and taking other basic forms of precaution during an ongoing pandemic.
maybe that's ok because the alternative is thousands of people continuing to die
victims don’t have to forgive their abusers, but if they do, they also have the right to take it back. you’re allowed to say “actually, no, i was wrong. you don’t deserve forgiveness.”
this is a great example of why "cultural appropriation" doesnt capture the extent of yt supremacist violence. they dont just want to profit off our culture; they want our culture to exist without us existing. it's not just a form of capitalist extraction, it's a genocidal threat.
@fridahalo
therapy as it is rn is an extension of the state and therefore colonial violence. it is built to maintain the productivity of workers, not heal and transform us. it is built to punish/incarcerate people who do not conform, just like most other state-sanction institutions.
Hi guys! I need your help in sharing this to help a Sudanese family escape to safety. While the goal may seem small compared to others, it could mean the difference between life and death for them. The funds raised will support 12 people (2 families) in fleeing Babanousa, West
this is year five and some of you are more offended by being called a murderer for not enforcing masking in your spaces than you are by the fact that 2k+ people are dying in the us every week.
when we tell people it’s not too late, we are trying to coddle them and protect them from discomfort and shame that is inevitable if they are going to get educated and do better. it’s actually okay that you might have to carry guilt for the rest of your life for being complicit.
no amount of wealth and fame protects Black people esp of marginalized genders from sexual harassment and violence. that’s on full display in this video.
anyone announcing publicly that they are breaking boycotts is not going to engage in good faith about their choice to do so. they know they are normalizing cruelty for the sake of cruelty and they don’t deserve any engagement.
they really point to a fully transitioned, able-bodied, allistic, white trans republican man and say, with their full chests, "see you guys are all just as bad as real-- i mean cis men"
how are survivors supposed to heal in a society that is constantly uplifting the people who harm us and erasing the harm done to us? we know enough about the science of trauma to know that shit is literally retraumatizing.
there's a difference between disordered substance use impacting your impulsivity, decision-making, and demeanor and it making you commit violent acts of transmisogynoir. using substance use disorder as an excuse for this kind of behavior only further stigmatizes those struggling.
expecting disabled people facing death to expertly navigate the discomfort and shame of ableds who are committed to creating the conditions of death = not toxic perfectionism
expecting people to consistently mask (the bare minimum) = toxic perfectionism
@AudrianaCB
We will never get anyone to start masking again if we expect perfection and eat each other up for “hypocrisy.” Let’s embrace anytime someone masks and build from there.
