@JacquesThibs Not true, at least for me. I’ve been at OpenAI for only 3 months. And I have had the experience of interacting with kind and extremely talented people. I couldn’t have imagined a better place to work at. To see that beautiful stable workplace gone overnight is fucked up.

@HamelHusain Be careful that the book’s content could be rather outdated. GPUs have come a long way since a decade or so ago

Years into working with batchnorm now, and yet, I still have no idea what the heck “covariate shift” is.

Sora is our first video generation model - it can create HD videos up to 1 min long. AGI will be able to simulate the physical world, and Sora is a key step in that direction. thrilled to have worked on this with @billpeeb at @openai for the past year

If you have some time, I highly recommend 'Rough Sleepers', the latest book by Tracy Kidder. Specially the audio book narrated by Kidder himself.

We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO with a new initial board of Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo. We are collaborating to figure out the details. Thank you so much for your patience through this.

Surprised “covariate shift” hasn’t found its way into corporate jargon. It would fit right in: “Let’s touch base on cross-team covariate shift in the daily sync”

@ItisCapy @TWiStartups @Spotify @FCBarcelona @Disney @RobertIger @genies @Jason @mollywood Not only that… I also disagree with @Jason that it’s not worth it wo/ FIFA games. If you do the math especially with el Classico and CL games that have crazy world wide reach, this 4y contract is a good deal for Spotify imo.

@matdmiller @YunTaTsai1 @HamelHusain Oh didn’t know that. Haven’t read this new edition, and was under the impression that the book probably hasn’t been re-edited, similar to other CUDA books I read circa 2012. Kudos to Wen-mei Hwu for keeping the book up to date.

@tim_zaman I intentionally don’t. My interpretation of it could be a reduction to what a potential reader can enjoy from reading it, even though the book is non fiction. Kidder does a good job dealing with a divisive theme (homelessness) from an observer’s pov, and I don’t wanna spoil it.

Can’t believe I did not know of Karatsuba algorithm. It allows you to multiply two numbers with less than n^2 single digit multiplications, making it a brilliant choice for multiplying numbers with a lot of digits.
