You’re running out of time. You’ve had 3 years, are getting billions in funding, and in the United States - when we really want to fix a problem, we figure it out, and figure it out quickly.
@Ronwhileyoucan
Respect those who feel this way but outside of maybe a few songs, I’m personally not really missing it. I’m a big fan of brass and I love that DMB has moved more in that direction.
@glennEmartin
These programs typically aren’t just “low” income, it’s low-to-moderate income (LMI)… in which someone making $103,311 in NYC is definitely just moderate income.
@immad
@mercury
Like I mentioned the other week… balance sweeps into another checking account, not just savings! Very important for any business that exposes their account number to large amounts of people and maintain a depository & operating account. Also, ACH blocks on accounts would be nice
Working on switching my company bank accounts over to
@BankMercury
and all I have to say is...WOW. The UX is extremely intuitive, customer service is extremely responsive, and they’re already working on implementing some of my ideas.
@MLBONFOX
can you quit it with the mid-game player interviews? It’s tacky AF, and they don’t feel like answering
@Ken_Rosenthal
’s dumb questions. Let them focus on the game and their teammates.

My guy in Utah is Jimmy Hobson . If he can’t help, I’m sure he knows someone who can. The key is to work with a true independent mortgage broker because we have way more product options than banks & other non-bank mortgage lenders.
@SLessard
I mean…you pretty much do give us money. Haha. Still one of the most reasonably priced concerts one can go to, and was always that way. I, for one, have always appreciated how hard you guys work to entertain us and it doesn’t burn a hole in our pockets.
I turned down refinance opportunities all the time when I was a Loan Officer when I didn’t think it would benefit the consumer. I’d routinely lose out on thousands of dollars in commission, but I also slept (and still sleep) like a baby because I knew I did the right thing.
@moizali
I would like to have a little bit of what you’re smoking if you think this is going to be the norm any time soon. This is anecdotal evidence at best.
@katekiewel
I’m building a B2B FinTech startup for U.S.-based clients and working on a move to Puerto Rico, but as you can probably tell I’m not Latino myself and very much struggling to learn Spanish 😂. But I want my dev team to be in mostly PR, Colombia, and/or Costa Rica.
If your Loan Officer or mortgage company is pressuring you to refinance due to the Fed rate hike this week, you’re dealing with a salesy scumbag and you should fire them immediately. Only work with mortgage professionals who have your best interest at heart!
@sairarahman
In localized areas, maybe. There was a massive amount of listings put on the market in June which relieved some of the inventory problems. But I don’t see it getting much friendlier for buyers anytime soon.
Last week was a BRUTAL week at work. Nothing seemed to go right. Customers complaining, Loan Officers thinking the sky was falling all week. I didn’t take that negative energy into this week, and had one of my most productive Mondays in a long time.

Ever think for a second that he WANTED to honor his dad? Maybe he really has no interest in becoming a musician? Do you know him personally? Some people really like to make comments without any form of critical thinking…
He almost immediately recognized my talent. When a Customer Service Representative role opened, he promoted me to that position. I only had 6 months of experience at the time, and was only 20 years old. But he saw something in me.
When I came back after funding the account, my progress was saved! I didn’t need to re-enter. They really get it, I’m excited to see their future releases.
Who wants to design & develop something that replaces CAPTCHA? I have 20/20 vision and still have a hard time seeing some of those challenges. There’s gotta be a better way...
Little things like ability to click ABA/Routing Number and account number to copy to clipboard is a small touch but a huge timesaver. Also, I started setting up recurring payments to some of my vendors, they didn’t let me set it up since wire hadn’t hit yet, BUT....

As someone with a banking background, I can certainly appreciate the challenges that come with handling checks & fraud mitigation - so I can empathize, but yes at a certain point it should be no more than a day, two max for established customers if you want to be competitive.

@mercury
Hell yea! Your online banking UI/UX has saved us hundreds of hours of man hours in the 2.5 years we’ve been a customer of Mercury. And that’s not an exaggeration.

as being passive whatsoever. I’ve always felt, as someone who ran a company with her, she was always good at being assertive when it really mattered.
But I busted my ass to make sure I would be recognized if that opportunity did arise. I firmly believe that luck happens to the people who work the hardest for it. I think there’s some cliché saying, but I never remember it.
@kbhome
shame on you for charging per diem penalty to a buyer for not being able to close on one of your homes because he’s a firefighter putting his life on the line to try and stop the California wildfires from spreading. Unbelievable.
While we’re all outraged about the mortgage LLPA changes, I’m really gonna blow your minds on this one.
Did you know that both Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac have affordable products called Home Ready and HomePossible, respectively - which have ZERO LLPAs as long as you’re below 80%
6 months after that, I originated my first mortgage. That was the very beginning of my 13 year path to where I am today. But I don’t think I would’ve gotten that first promotion had it not been for that certain element of “luck” that worked in my favor.
@zackprager
@danielcberk
Yea I wouldn’t count on that. And population growth is slowing, not the population itself. It is still projected to have 30M+ more people in this country in 30 years… and we’re still 1.5 million new homes behind family creation.
My very first professional job was a seasonal & part time Teller at a major bank. I wanted a good job to put on my resume while I was going to college, and I took it seriously. I worked as fast as I could, usually did the most transactions, provided great customer experience.
I don’t think my efforts were immediately recognized. The Branch Manager who hired me got fired for comments she made after the 2008 presidential election. After that, regional management put in a new BM who managed another branch locally.
I know a lot of people are pissed off about the pricing changes on mortgages and making it more favorable for those with lower credit scores…
But remember, they still need to actually qualify for the loan. AUS (Automated Underwriting System) is not very forgiving these days,

You can, but the principal payments only apply to the principal at the end of the term. You still pay the same amount of interest every month, your term just gets shortened as you make extra principal payments.
@BankMercury
Would be nice if you had a true ZBA that would transfer entire balance to an operating checking account every night. Moving it to a savings account is kind of useless… But I love the enhancement!

I built a huge network on Facebook, many of whom I’ve never met in person but are now my customers, some are strategic advisors, investors, etc. There are lots of ways to build rapport with people. Certainly not downplaying what you’re saying though, I agree that’s a plus.
Big shout out to

Amazing! Also, mobile deposit only permissions for users. I have employees spread throughout the country so this would be huge. Lastly, outgoing payment requests similar to the way works. Can invite vendors to fill in their bank info to receive ACH or wire

Live near 30th Street Station and commute is only about an hour and a half if your office is bear Penn Station! There are supposedly thousands of people who do it. I live 2 blocks from 30th Street Station so it would def be easy for me. But I don’t like NYC or NY in general haha
My biggest piece of advice to small business owners and entrepreneurs: be the odd duck. When everyone is walking in one direction, be the duck that goes in a different direction. You’ll usually be rewarded heavily for it.

Simplistic answer. Yes, while there are definitely tax advantages to “having an LLC”, that’s not how billionaires avoid paying taxes. They leverage the assets they own (whether it’s shares in their company or other companies) to take out asset-backed loans which are not a taxable

Building an ERP for mortgage brokers. Solves all my problems as an owner of two brokerages myself, and sharing it with everyone else. I’m a big believer in democratizing technology for small businesses.
I've seen a lot of chatter about
@GustoHQ
dropping the ball for customers as they grow. I didn't want to believe them until the last month where their service has been dreadful. Took them a month to respond to a delinquent tax notification, and then blamed us for it.
@SleipnirPerkins

(1/2) What will happen as margin compression returns is the outside Loan Officers at non-bank lenders who currently compose roughly 60% market share will flock to the broker channel in droves. Maybe brokers get pinched out in 5-10 years but it’s foolish in the near term

Agreed. I admire this because it’s not an easy decision. If it were me, I’d probably leave enough so that they can use it as seed money to start a business. They might fail, they might succeed. But I dunno if I would want them to go through what I did to build my businesses.

That’s the problem. Why does it take 24 hours between every email that we go back and forth on. You raised $200M in funding back in August. Shouldn’t some of that be used to ramp up customer support so we can solve things in a day or two instead of 2 weeks?
