Not my day today. But to be unhappy about a sub 2.45 is not a bad place to be! In a lot of pain from mile 10. Threw my toys out the pram at 16. Had a word with myself at 22.
County Cross Country champs today peeps. Proper running!! Didn't retain m for the age cat title but still retain the title of oldest looking 47year old in Hampshire.
Yesterday's splits. By Mile 14 I knew it wouldn't be my day. Stopped looking at the watch. I would have guessed miles 16 - 22 were all 7min plus. By 24 I looked at overall time and realised I could still do under 2.45. Fighting a stich in the last couple.
Not quite a medal. Completed my first ultra at the South Coast challenge. Finished 100km in 10.06 and managed to bag first place!! To say I'm a but chuffed is an understatement

Gosport half marathon today an event perfectly organised by
@gosportrr
. They even organised sunshine in November. Bagged a pb and age group win. ( did not stay ahead of the two guys in the picture though) great support from the

massive
Getting ready for tomorrow. I'm going to be a rebel and attach my bag label in the morning and not the night before like it says. Life on the edge me!!
@FCRC
@stravawankers
what's your take on flagging up runs to strava when you've lost your segment? Am I the
#stravawanker
or the guy " running" a 3.41 mile in the middle of 15miles under WR pace
British Road relays today peeps. Great event. I was first leg for the Southampton AC 45-55 team. Brought it back in 7th place 18th quickest overall. 16.43 for the leg. Strava has it at 3.06 miles and we all know that's right so I'm hoping for it on my Po10 5k (was 3m lap)
@mrjamesob
She's my local mp. My wife refers to her as Suella de Vil. Terrible as an mp god only knows how bad a home secretary she'll be! Some good responses on a local fb group. My favourite being "look on the bright side at least we'll see even less of her.
@ultrathinking
Can't you just enjoy both. I ran a lovely 10mile road race yesterday the week before was a trail marathon. I guess I just like running 🏃 🏃
@TedDansonBDay
I've waited months for this day. But my wife had secretly googled the date and spoiled it for me before I'd checked twitter. I cannot believe how much this has upset me
Look what arrived in the post today. My south coast challenge gentleman's champion trophy. Most unexpected but most welcome. I'll try and keep good care of it while I have it.

How did Gaz become the bad guy and I'm filled with an unnecessary need to defend him! I miss old twitter where
@SteAssent
got us involved with carnivores
Number 1 baby. Well on my bib anyway. 9th overall, 8th male and sec in age cat. Great to see
@millsy262
in his hi vis. I did get asked for my dob because they couldn't believe I was under 50! Good day all round
@mara_yamauchi
I think you've taken the wrong perspective on this. The parkrun winner's chat is meant with irony. Plus they haven't said what their view's on males running as female's are. They just said it was a can of worms. It's like your just trying to get everyone piling on them
@_cupofteafather
Cheers guy's. I'm buzzing after a bit of an illness last ten days I'm so glad I didn't go off too fast. Aimed for 2.42 and dipped just under. Thanks to
@SteAssent
and his carb load course. ( and my coach obvs but he's not on twitter) now for my 1st beer since boxing day!!

8/10 bagged myself a 2 and 1/2 minute pb at Gosport half marathon. Great event with nice treats in the goody bag. I feel like I'm ready for a sub 3 marathon attempt!!

9/10 for my solent half marathon run this morning. Conditions were a bit wet and windy but not too bad. New PB time of 1.24.06. Really nice course and well organised despite the morning deluge. Different bit of bling in the shape of a towel(beer towel)
@marathontalk
#rateyourrun
10/10 was late to the first park run and finished next to a guy who looked a bit like PSH. On the second Park run of the day realised it was him and said hello. The guy is a real life legend. Pb at the 2nd run too

Bester was pissing around with a gopro weaving side to side at 20 odd miles. Felt like flicking his legs out from under him
@_cupofteafather
ventured into parkrun today??? I was overtaken in the last 100mtrs so walked across the line for a petulant 2nd place but in
@Gazitude
honour I'm claiming first non binary finisher. It's not a race though
@jeannie_brady
@gingerneilnc
This is they're guidelines to the media. They're trying to be sensitive to all. It's not about the wrong genders competing. Can you explain why it matters if somone wants to be called x, then people call them x. It's not effecting women's sports
@AlanRisk4
@Gazitude
I'm still on the fence with this one. Some of the data is a bit off. But not enough to make me think he's definitely cheated. Made some decent charity money though either way. Wish I could just give up everything and go running for a year. Be aan adventure
@scottroots
@j_ashworth656
I once had finished behind the lead bike in a city half marathon for the last 3 milrs. ( why they were with me was 2nd). Came into Winchester centre with all the crowds. I felt like a pro. Best race I've done
I'm loving those numbers. 111010111. I'd like to think I planned the position and timing to create that symmetry but it was more than likely me fading at the finish!!

I suppose there are mutual interests in the first place. So definitely possible. Could still end up meeting a psychopath though and end up being put through a wood chipper but a risk I'd take!!!
@mattletiss7
Matt you do retweet some complete rubbish. I'm sure you can look into some real research and form a more reasoned opinion. You'll be wearing a tinfoil hat soon
@_theteaboy
It's not rocket science. Each hinge has 2 screws each screw moves the hinge a different way. It's easier than trying to workout someone's pace from minutes per km to minute's per mile.
@scottroots
@Marathon_Mcr
Today's shenanigans. I don't use carbon shoes for my long runs. I feel if I'm hitting the paces alright should come easier once the super shoes are on
Great South Run today. Managed to bag a pb. Great support from the
@farehamrunning
massive. The pic must have been early as I'm smiling. Second m45 and 63rd overall. Pretty pleased tbh

My top tips would be
1) sell yours for more than it's worth
2) buy something for lower than the asking price.
Hope this helps
@spkinson
if you zoom in on my feet (6861) you can see the duct tape holding my spike's on, thanks for the tip. Next time I'll start nearer the front and not run as conservatively. Should have been in the top 500 but happy with 579 on my debut!!
In case you didn't know. You can use wine gums instead of your finger when scrolling on your phone!! I feel twitter is the place to impart this that I've learned😁
@Gazitude
@80percentvegan
Just cramming in some carbs thanks to

Gaz do you race with fu&£ing bone conductors or are you aiming for an ambassadorship from after shocks. Proper runners have trainers,socks, short shorts and vest. End of. No gloves, arm Warmers or any type of audio device's otherwise you may as well be a jogger.Thems the rules 😎
@_cupofteafather
@Gazitude
@Paolo090908
I could go out at that pace for the first half. Definitely not brave enough to try and run it though. I'll be very happy sub 2.45, ecstatic with sub 2.40

I don't think it's demeaning. To either. I think it's a good standard that most people have the latent capability to do. But for a lot of people completely changing your lifestyle around and training full time isn't an option. It's a goal that is good standard but not impossible

My easy is anything above 7mm but usually done on feel not bothered about pace. It's usually about 7.20 - 7.30. Recovery pace is different never quicker than 7.45

I will do it for free.
Run as many miles as you can fit in. Mostly easy. Do a couple of sessions a week. Long run on a Sunday.
Do that from where you are now Gaz and you'll be golden in 12-16 week's. That's potentially £8000 saved by Aaron's rates!
@Gazitude
@poetwithpace
In the interests of fairness. This race is called the Hambledon Hilly 10k. So that's an official ruling on a hilly 10k 😁😁
Check out my activity on Strava:
@wingchun_dave
@scottroots
It's not that glamorous. I use a loop that has 6,8,10 mile variations alot for mara training. Takes me a couple of miles on the coast but still on pavement. The loop is flat and ideal. Plenty of more scenic routes nearby with trail and countryside
@ukjogchat
@_cupofteafather
@Gazitude
@poetwithpace
Totally agree with that. If your fairly new to running and your first half is 2 hour's with 6 month's of training a 3.30 is totally doable if you have some sort of base fitness. If you've tried a few times and struggled to break 2 then 3.30 may be a taller order
@SamaHoole
Have you read it champ. It literally says that one of the causes is "the decrease in intake of fruits and vegetables." You should read it first slugger but it's got lots of tricky words!

Not yet Paul never say never. I paced my mate to his fastest parkrun ever yesterday and first sub 20 in 2 years yesterday. He's 54 so there's hope for us yet
@wingchun_dave
South downs marathon 2013, 5 year's before I started "running" had four days notice to step in and take a mate's place who couldn't make it. Didn't realise it would be so hilly! ( I'm on the right)

I joined a second club ( Southampton) and the group I'm in has a really good coach and is invested in all his groups from junior's to old gits like me. His experience is invaluable and helped me become a better runner.
