Hi. Weird request but fuck it:
If you're disabled and in a happy, loving relationship, would you mind sharing a photo of you and your partner with me? Bonus points for wheelchair users & LGBT folk
Brain is finding it SO hard to imagine being loved in my chair.
Feel free to RT
Why are household items for disabled people so ugly and utilitarian?
Why can't I get a perching stool in rose gold metal with a pale grey seat? Why can't we have pastel pink or duck egg blue?
Why aren't disabled people allowed to have personalities or decor choices?
If Bang PD was talking about BTS & said HALF of what MIn Heejin said about new jeans, that man would have to go into hiding, change his name, have full facial reconstruction. Army would want BLOOD. So why arenβt tokkis fighting for new jeans? I donβt get it.
Regarding the KKTs, Min said it was a serious invasion of privacy to use the contents of a conversation conducted with a friend prior to the creation of Ador by a forensicβs analysis of a personal computer.

This woman on TikTok used one of their nail products. Itβs dissolved into her skin and she had heavy metal poisoning. Itβs potentially Mercury but sheβs having it tested. Sheβs having long term nerve issues in her hand as a result
@UniOfSurrey
@GLocalz_
If the excuse is "disruption" it's far more disruptive to have a lecturer stop and shame a student for coming in late than it is for the student to come in late and quietly slot themselves in
Feast of Mary Magdalene who is legit my favourite biblical babe.
Patriarchy has fucked her over but we reclaim her.
She most likely wasnβt a sex worker but letβs remember sex workers today anyway, that their rights are human rights and that sex work is work.
I canβt stop thinking about this and about how disabled people in positions of privilege often forget about those who are at greater risk of harm. Itβs easy to start to equate having a platform as being βthe voiceβ of disabled people & to stop listening to the quieter voices π§΅
Seriously take whatever preconceived ideas of who Louis Tomlinson is, put them in a box, watch an episode of X Factor and see more of the real him.
Kind, caring, intelligent, compassionate, endlessly supportive of LGBT people, gentle, vulnerable, humble, sweet.
The fact that
@ManchesterPride
hiked their ticket prices so much because of Ariana and she's only doing a 30 minute set *and* they've suddenly changed the last entry time to 7pm (she's on at 10.25pm) is another sign of what a gross money making venture it's become.

Let me tell you about period poverty from someone who grew up poor.
TW for trauma:
My mum didn't believe me when I told her my period had started becayse I'd had a false alarm a few weeks before. So she wouldn't give me pads at all for the first few days so I bled
This is your daily reminder that you arenβt over reacting or being paranoid by still staying home and avoiding social interactions as much as possible.
Pride isn't a festival and shouldn't be set up as one. What
@ManchesterPride
has done seemed totally suspect right from the start. An embarrassment to one of the most well established prides in the city and one with such a rich and important history too.
Somethint I donβt understand* is why people like Jaime Oliver campaign for βunhealthyβ food to be more expensive instead of campaigning for βhealthyβ food to be more affordable and for basic cooking lessons to be free.
(I do understand - its b/c of classism & fat shaming)
@_brokenbiscuit
@Sia
No one is trolling. Weβre disabled, neurodiverse people saying weβre hurt by what sheβs doing. Thatβs not what trolling is. Thatβs speaking our truth.
Hello it's me your friendly autoimmune compromised friend.
Please, if you're sick, stay home and rest and don't spread your germs if at all possible. I'm sick, again, and truly I am v tired of it.
Also, HR folk - sort your absence management so pol aren't scared of sick days.
Hey vegans if youβre gonna offer to shop for a disabled person, donβt then reply to their (very small) request saying you only want to buy things that are vegan and asking if itβs ok to bring the ingredients to make vegan alternatives
My health trumps your fucking ethical diet
This is your semi regular reminder that shaming people who donβt shower daily is both ableist and classist and that not showering β not following other hygiene rules such as washing your hands.
@LizKershawDJ
Liz as you clearly need educating - here's my experience of period poverty, which has left me with lasting trauma. Yes, I still went to uni and I got a first but you know what? The trauma is still there. I'm 33. Have some fucking compassion

It never stops shocking me that when people are in distress, especially if they're autistic, the focus is often on making the person stop the behaviour instead of looking at what causes the behaviour & how to reduce the trigger's negative impact. It's punishment vs understanding
I have no idea why on earth middle class people are so mortally offended by the idea of giving CHILDREN and TEENAGERS free sanitary products is so awful or why they think period poverty is some sort of weird conspiracy scam but I can only assume it comes from privlege.
Also to every knob who thinks they're being clever - yes this is a story about having a cruel mum. It's also a story about grown up in poverty. Unsurprisingly, THOSE TWO THINGS CAN COEXIST.
Also, go find a better hobby than "correcting" traumatised women on their experiences.
Genuinely though the feedback that
@Louis_Tomlinson
gives on the X factor is so spot on. Heβs so intelligent and fair but also careful - he wonβt set someone up with false hope but heβs so gentle in it too. What a wholesomely good person he is.
Just had my NHS wheelchair service appointment. Went in with no hope because I know how rare it is to get powerchairs if you can walk even a little.
Itβs been approved. Iβm getting a properly fitted NHS powerchair that does full recline and leg extension and meets my needs π
People pretending to be disabled so they can get away with not wearing a mask are genuinely evi.
So many disabled people live in fear of being called fakers. So many of us will do things that are exhausting, painful and potentially even harmful to ourselves to protect others.
Ultimately, the r slur is not hers to reclaim. And truthfully, she isnβt reclaiming it. Sheβs using it for shock factor, as a marketing tactic, and that leaves a bitter taste. Shr wonβt have playground bullies spurred on to use it. She wonβt be triggered by it trending on here
Just a reminder that if youβre going out to pubs, clubs and bars youβre not an ally to the disabled community and you should probably take a hot minute to examine why youβre unable to say no/why you value your own fun over other peopleβs lives.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT IT LOOKS LIKE PIP HAVE ACTUALLY AWARDED ME FULL DAILY LIVING AND MOBILITY!
I havenβt had a letter but I did just check my bank and a have my backpay from them and I think itβs the full award.
My assessment was less than a month ago. HOLY FUCK.
This is your daily reminder that eye contact doesnβt improve communication, it just reassures the ego of the person speaking and there are many other ways to do that which donβt rely on eye contact alone.
Afaik, Rosie doesnβt have a learning disability or intellectual impairment. She is visibly disabled yes, but that is one small facet of disabled experience. This word is not hers to reclaim. She is also protected from the harm that the most vulnerable in our community face.
I don't know who the fuck Liam Payne's manager is but they are not doing their job. Letting your client who has had a drink problem do a nude shoot with NO advance warning and seeing him get wasted on tequila to cope with it? Where the fuck is the duty of care? What's going on?
So last night before posting this tweet I posted these two about how unloveable I felt. I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has shared & commented and kicked my own internalised ableism in the ass. I'm in tears. You are beautiful. Thank you
Pride up here is three whole weeks away and I'm already stressing about going because my powerchair makes me feel like an unattractive and undesirable non-sexual alien. Loooooollllll
Ok so a lot of people have replied to this saying "customise it" and whilst I get the intention behind that, it negates the actual issue. Abled people get choice and then they can choose to customise if they want. Have a passion for upcycling? Boom youve got a fun weekend hobby
@_brokenbiscuit
@Sia
It doesnβt change the simple fact that casting a non disabled actor and using the language sia is using is deeply offensive. I donβt need to see the movie to know that someone referring to us having special abilities makes me want to throw up
Bought the neighbour who mowed my front lawn and swept my drive (he knows Iβm disabled so did it for me) some baklava to say thank you. He came back out 15 minutes later with a Tupperware crammed full of piping home Iraqi dolma.
I truly LOVE where I live.
And like not even just army - pretty much any fandom, if their groups manager was pulling this shit, would be fighting. And yet tokkis sadly keep fighting for this absolute monster of a woman. Make it make sense.
I had some good news today. Like some really really good news that I wasn't expecting at all. And it's made me feel so happy and relieved and it's just a huge relief.
But the situation at the moment *forces* disabled people to have these basic ugly designs or to customise..and for many disabled people, customising isn't an accessible option. Fumes from paints, mobility, time, energy, money, skill etc - all of these things are barriers
CN:ableism, disability appropriation
Liverpool folks - if any of you know who runs SineMission1 on instagram, please tell them this isn't ok.
The sunflower lanyard is for those of us with hidden disabilities. Seeing it used like this has me in tears.
Imagine if medical professionals would take the time to understand the very basic premise that we donβt want to be sick, we just want to have answers. A named condition increases the chance of treatment which increases the chance of quality of life. Itβs really very simple. π€·π»ββοΈ
If multiple disabled people withdraw their consent to be featured because they feel uncomfortable with that slur, all I see is hierarchical ableism in action. Rosie a βgoodβ compliant disabled person. We who donβt agree are the βbadβ difficult disabled whose voices donβt matter.
@MrsAnneTwist
the rescue I got them from have very kindly offered to fund all of her surgery (in part because noone else wanted them due to Pig's health problems).
They have a crowdfunder if you would be able to share with your cat loving friends?
@JessicaOOTC
@claudiafozard
Thank you so much Jessica. Ive followed you and Claudia for a while and you help my little gay heart feel hopeful. You're so beautiful together
The bungalow is mine. Itβs mine. ITS MINE.
IM MOVING INTO A TWO BED BUNGALOW WITH A GARDEN!!!!!
Iβm going to be free again. Iβm going to have a life again. I canβt believe it.
A year since I left my home. A year of looking at a brick wall from my window. A year alone. Over.
Your regular reminder that neurodivergent is a broad term that covers more than just autistic/adhd people with moderate to low support needs and that making generalisations about how neurodivergent people are inherently better/more kind etc ignores HUGE parts of neurodivergence
Disabled people deserve the freedom of choice that abled people have and yes, maybe the free options given by the NHS will always be somewhat limited but that doesn't mean they have to be brown and beige and grey and doesn't mean we shouldn't have paid for options with variety.
And the most disgusting thing is knowing that the C4 execs will see all of our concerns and complaints as proof that theyβve done the right thing because βitβs got people talkingβ.
I just noticed I was speaking quite harshly to myself for spending my morning in bed
βYouβre so lazyβ
Nah pal, thatβs internalised ableism as a result of existing in a work and achievement focused culture.
Rest is good. Rest is radical. Looking after your needs is important.
Harry at a gay bar with queer eye....harry at a David hockney exhibition....harry at a King Princess gig...3 public appearances in a week...all of them in gay as heck spaces.
I'm fine lads....I'm fine
Just spent an hour consoling and supporting a friend who has had her PIP application rejected and I am once again reminded of what a viciously cruel process it is.
The worst part is that the assessors act like theyβre on your side, only to write a report filled with lies.
I've known homeless women too who had to just free bleed, ruining the few items of clothing they had, ending up with sores and matting and pain from the dried blood with no facilities to wash or clean themselves.
There is no way in which providing this products for free is bad
I literally can't keep up with all the replies but I'm going to try to becayse you're all amazing and beautiful and I am so so SO thankful for you all and the love that you're sharing with me πππ
And on top of that - maybe you just don't want to? Maybe the thought of doing that is boring as hell. Or maybe stuff can't be done safely or at all! So whilst it's well intentioned to say customise! it also reinforces the ableism thag underpins this whole issue.
STOP ππ» PITTING ππ» PHYSICAL ππ» AND ππ» MENTAL ππ» DISABILITIES ππ» AGAINST ππ» EACH ππ» OTHER
Physical disabilities don't get this mythical belief, respect & instant help so many people who exist solely in the MH think they do
We all need care and support. We all struggle to get it.
I feel like we donβt talk enough about choosing to be single because you arenβt mentally stable enough for a relationship. Not in a βif you canβt love yourselfβ bullshit way, but in a βchoosing to be single for this time in my life is the safest & most loving option for meβ way.
@PatchMcScratchy
This is why I don't feel safe going to gay bars as a lesbian. I hate the thought of trying to flirt and getting it thrown back in my face or something worse.
@sleepingpixiee
@pjmseIca
The hyungs really played themselves by letting them have free reign when they were younger - they thought it was just a phase but no, they raised three clingy puppies who donβt know their own strength or size.
I literally cannot stand that neurodivergent people are still being labelled as βrefusing to engageβ with therapy instead of therapists admitting that they have no idea of how to effectively work with ND client groups because there is VERY limited training available
Because believe me, you will be miserable. Beyond miserable.
And anyone who starts saying that their grandmother's grandmother used clothes or whatever - we also didn't have soft toilet paper in the UK until after 1950. Do you want to go back to tree bark & leaves for that too?
@MikScarlet
@digidiane
Thank you so much Mik. What a stunning pair you are. I got dumped last year for being too disabled and now started using the powerchair in the past month and it's made me freak out but I know that really it's just internalised ableism and never really seeing disabled r'ships
A few years ago I had the realisation that doctors running late is actually a sign of how invested they are in their patients, and since then I havenβt felt anywhere near as stressed when appointments run late.
Are any other isolated disabled people starting to freak out seeing twitter fall apart and people leaving in droves?
Twitter has been my community when Iβve had no-one else. Itβs been my lifeline when Iβve needed financial support to be able to stay alive.
And if you think it is, I would like to challenge you to go for a whole period without using sanitary products. And making sure you're living the life of a school aged person - active, walking all the time, not being allowed to go to change whenever you want, doing sports.
This is your reminder that for many disabled people, the first lockdown never ended and weβve all spent months watching the rest of you make our own personal emprisonment be never ending.
Yes this lockdown will suck but if weβve survived 7+ months, you can survive this.
@theneliad
Here we see two starving and neglected cattes snuggling together for warmth because their Mama only gave them half a packet of food EACH for breakfast and won't be feeding them for another *checks watch* three hours.
They are only fed five times a day. Life is hard, pls donate
@I3ml3g3nd
@fiadhaich_
We really need to stop equating complex and stigmatised mental health conditions with general poor mental health. They are vastly different and rn the dialogue is dominated by those with depression & anxiety who canβt grasp what itβs like for those of us with complex diagnoses.
Maybe the one true silver lining of this whole shit show will be The Sun going under and Dan Wootton losing his job.
Who's joining me in the prayer circle?
Britain's brilliant newspapers provide a lifeline of trusted information for millions during this crisis. A paper costs less than a cup of coffee. Do your bit and keep journalism alive for future generations.

Happy news - my PIP has been renewed at enhanced rate until 2027 ππππ I didnβt even need to have an assessment meeting, they just used our documentation.
Iβm so relieved. 3+ years of not having to think about PIP is going to be so good for me.
Reminder that you can define your sexuality however the fuck you want and that if that changes in 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years it doesnβt fucking matter. If itβs how you felt at the time, itβs all good. Be you. Labels are there to help, not to tie you in to a fucking cult.
Is anyone else feeling deeply hopeless about this election? Like sure ok Tories out, but labours policies have become almost identical. As a disabled person, I have no faith in them actually protecting me or making life better because theyβve done nothing to show they will.
Honestly this thread is one of the most beautiful and wholesome things I've ever had the privllege of being a part of. There is just so much love being shared and it makes my heart all mushy
Being an autistic autism professional can be such hard work sometimes. It can be exhausting to tread the line between both camps
But itβs also so important that weβre here and making those big changes happen.
So fellow autistic autism professionals - I see you & youβre awesome
Just got a text from my neighbour letting me know he'd left been to the shops and to check outside the door
He got me a care package of all my favourite treats and even bought a nice reusable shopper for me too because he knows how sad I've been recently π₯Ίπ
@tkasasagi
@starredspace
We are convinced that Piglet is in fact an ancient spirit or maybe a God trapped in a little black catβs body. She is pure black - black eyebrows, black whiskers, black claws - and so intelligent and caring.
And if youβre not comfortable? DONT FUCKING OFFER! Or say in advance so I donβt ask you to get non vegan stuff.
Last week it was ok so why not this week? How have your ethics changed that much in 7 days.
Vegans are continually THE WORST when it comes to disability stuff.
@bbceurovision
@RevRachelMann
50th anniversary of the ABBA win next year and Iβm supposed to believe those jury votes werenβt swayed by that? Justice for Finland, the Peopleβs Princess and winner of our hearts!
@Nicole_Cliffe
It's made me so emotional. I'm having such a hard time coming to terms with using my wheelchair and last year I was broken up with for being too disabled (and that was before I used a chair at all). It's so wonderful to be blessed with all these amazing stories of diverse love

@NEXTforAUTISM
Look I get it. Itβs so easy to be sucked in by a charity who want to use your platform to bring in money for themselves. But please listen to the voices of autistic people who are begging you to reconsider this event and to listen to & include us and not give money to a βcureβ
@Variety
No. This is disgusting. What are βspecial abilitiesβ? Do you mean disabilities? Have you spoke to literally ANY disabled people about how we feel about this? We donβt want it. It isnβt a love letter to us, itβs a mockery.
PIGLET IS HOME!!
She has never eaten this quietly. Also - she literally had a massive polyp removed from above her mouth and she's eating like a total trooper!!!
I'm overwhelmed with love for her.
SHE MADE IT!!!!! SHE FUCKING LOVED EVEN WITH THE ODDS AGAINST HER!!
Ok so looks like Iβm going to be doing a takeover on
@NevilleSouthall
βs account chatting about autism soon from the perspective of being

. Hopefully Iβll be able to help include other autistic voices too βΊοΈ
What would you like it to focus on?
βWhat do you do?β
βIβm an autism consultantβ
βAh bless those kidsβ
βNo I work with adu-β
βAh theyβre so sweetβ
βWell Iβm actually off to train some neurophysicists...β
βAh itβs nice that they let them pretendβ
βNo theyβre actual-β
βWeβll weβre all a bit autistic arenβt we?β

"What do you do?"

"No."
"Seriously, what have you been in? I know your face."

"No. Nope. No. No."
Friends, if I wasn't so exhausted and emotionally numb, I'd be crying. 4 hours after initially asking for donations, I've raised Β£2000 which will enable me to buy a new foldable powerchair tonight, which will arrive early next week and allow me to make my surgery appointment.
