I added a few functions. The app can transcribe Kuzushiji on image from camera or gallery. If you press on kanji, it will show dictionary, but for hiragana, it will show Kana variants and Jibo. I also added text output so you can edit, copy or paste the text inside the app.

A Japanese student wrote an essay in Runic alphabets because the instruction said they can write in any languages. The teacher took 3 hours to transcribe it to romaji and checked it. 🤔✨
Emperor Uda from 9th century praised his cat. "This cat, unlike other cat that has light black hair, he has completely pure black hair. When he sleeps in circle, he is so small like a grain, but when he stretches, he looks like a great bow. His eyes are so sparkling.
This is way too amazing. Tokyo from 100 years ago. The author Denis Shiryaev fixed video with NN
- FPS boosted to 60 fps
- Faces enhanced
- Image resolution boosted up to 4k – with digital artifacts
-Removed noise & fixed some damaged parts
-Colorized
My Kuzushiji recognition mobile app using Tensorflow and Flutter project got awarded research grant from Japan Science and Technology, ACT-X: AI powered Innovation/ Creation. I aim to create ML application for general public to preserve Japanese culture.
Skateboard level : Furisode.

I know we created this but it’s so fun using this app in the museum exhibition space! ✨✨ It’s my first time to try this in real museum. Taking photo of folded 3D Byoubu and it still works!

Because it’s Christmas Eve, I am thrilled to share that I will be joining Google Brain Tokyo
@hardmaru
team as a research scientist next summer! My research will focus on machine learning for Japanese culture.
I am grateful for all the support from friends, family and colleagues
Emperor Uda wrote (exaggeratedly praised) about his black cat in his diary Kanpyougyoki (寛平御記) in Kanpyou first year (889) 6th day of the second month. I quoted this part from “Kakaisho” which is the Tale of Genji commentary book written by Yotsuji Yoshinari in 14th century.
So in my dating profile, I am looking for someone who

2. Have experience in python and JavaScript.
3. Knows how to use pytorch or TensorFlow.
4. Have experience in ML industry and open source software.
5. Love bears and cat.
6. Know Japanese is preferable.

I am a certified museum curator in Japan. One thing that I can do quite well is tying transparent cord and tube around museum objects to prevent damage from earthquake. 😌✨
I guess Apple’s A12x bionic is crazily fast with tensorflow.js. The Kuzushiji recognition model takes a few seconds on desktop computer but takes less tha one second to show recognition result on new iPad Pro (12.9)
Btw any software I create will always be free to use. I got research grants from Japanese government and people should be able to use these software for free. What I want is to protect what matters to me the most which is these books and documents.
It had been 8 months since I signed the offer letter. Today is my first day as a Senior Research Scientist at Google Brain team based in Tokyo.
I am so grateful for all the chances and supports I receive. I will do my best.
よろしくお願いします。
I like Hanawa Hokiichi doodle.
I just received a whole set of the Tale of Genji books in wooden box as a gift from a professor who was one of my PhD dissertation committee.

Before the ML talk today, a guy talked to me friendlily asking if I am interested in Machine Learning and why I was there.
So I told him I am the speaker. 😇
