My one (1) piece of advice to any medical student applying for any residency program in this year’s
#Match2025
:
Do not apply to any University at Buffalo program.
A joy of being a young physician is working with medical students daily, training them to become the next generation of anesthesiologists. Thank you to the many medical students for selecting me for the Resident Educator Award. It’s an honor to be in the ORs with every student.

We want clarity and honesty from programs. It’s okay to have a published cutoff, but we don’t want to see “holistic review” on their website but an email 43 minutes after ERAS opens saying they won’t be extending an interview.
If you don’t match where you want to tomorrow, that’s OK. You’re still going to be a doctor!
Also, a lot of people who post that they “matched at my
#1
program!” are LYING.
Today is National Physician Suicide Awareness Day.
More than half of physicians know a physician who has either considered, attempted or died by suicide in their career.
Let’s create a culture of wellbeing that values seeking out mental health services as a sign of strength!
“Hi there, I’m Dr. Boudreaux. How can I help you today?”
My first day as a physician is in the books — just an entire lifetime to go!
Does it get any better?!

Ideally, the resident physicians receive just compensation for their labor, appropriate benefits as employees and safer working environments.
Thinking about and praying for all the doctors, nurses and health care workers who have to confront the trauma of seeing, caring for and pronouncing dead the children slaughtered by gun violence during mass shooting events.
Gun violence is a public health crisis.
American health insurance is so wild. I was just told that a patient was approved for hospice, but she has to die within five days for it to be covered.
As doctors, we take a lot of verbal and sometimes even physical abuse from patients, all of which is unacceptable.
But nothing breaks my heart more than a patient being verbally abusive and racist to a medical student. For that, I have zero tolerance.
Today was a rough day.
My last day of intern year and the first that I actually wear my white coat!
Thinking back on all that I’ve learned from my patients this past year and looking forward to all that I’ll learn from them in the years to come.
Both my wonderful grandparents received their first doses of the Pfizer vaccine today, and I couldn’t be happier! Covid’s days are numbered!!

Not an ID nor attending, but TBI can happen to any doctor any day, regardless of specialty. Trauma, MVC, random brick falling from a building, stray baseball, etc.
