Judged an RCQ today and there were 12 unintentional draws. Twelve, in 6 rounds. Yes I was watching matches for slow play but these beanstalk decks, especially the cascade versions, take so many physical actions it’s almost impossible to finish 3 games of magic in a mirror.

The fact that Rakdos Vampires won the Pro Tour and 68 card slogurk gigabrain combo won the standard Open is probably a decent sign that Magic formats aren’t as solved by the modo churn as we think they are. Prob best to always keep an open mind

Testing on arena is great if you want to know how your deck does vs UR Pirates, Mono white vampires, Gladiator Beasts and Blastoise Tropical Beach Even at mythic the meme piles are too prevalent to make this worth any time at all.

The hotel lobby filled with people from across the country testing and jamming pickup games for matchups they needed to work on might have been the coolest experience I’ve had in MTG in a very long time.
