An interesting observation about these two cards (1/4 Dark Ritual, 1/24 Mental Misstep). Only one of these (physical) cards has seen play in a game of Magic: the Gathering - the other is a collectible.

Actual take on UB. Magic is terrible at creating collectible elements that stand on their own in the game. crossover sets make “I’m collecting this set” something people do and engage in, which isn’t how Magic has been since the early 90s.

Today marks the 1st anniversary of the biggest flop in recent MTG history. Wizards internal forecasts were hoping for 20k+ 30th Anniversary Edition units to be sold; instead they sold less than 2k, and badly damaged their reputation at the same time.
