It is my true delight to inform you that, at long last, the audiobook of MCTB2 is done! Thanks to Jamison and everyone who helped to make this possible! It is available for free here on Soundcloud, and will hopefully be on Audible shortly. Enjoy! 🙏🙂
Speaking of podcasts… probably going to launch my own shortly, just audio, and asking for suggestions for names for it. A friend long ago said I should have a show called “My Opinion” - currently the top contender. 😉 Mixed topics, EPRC, 🧘, health, research. Thoughts? 🙏🙂
Franz Vollenweider speaking at ISCR 2024 in Padua today about the arc of the psychedelic experience. Nearly identical to the standard insight stages maps! :)
MCTB2 is finally off my desk and in the hands of the publisher, Aeon. It should be available shortly for purchase and at . It has been 6 years and strange journey. May this book be of benefit to practitioners. Thanks to all who helped!
Just posted this open science EEG neurophenomenology dataset from about 3 weeks of fire kasina retreat using a Cognionics Quick-20R and MuseS with audio and video phenomenology. If interested in analyzing this dataset for non-commercial purposes, enjoy!
Ok, after some brainstorming last night while watching the storm crash around us, this arose: The Institute with Daniel M Ingram podcast. The reference is from The Demon Princes by Jack Vance, and The Institute works to keep lone madmen from being able to end life on a world.
🔥Finally out: Vital article laying the foundations for boarded specialties to support the deep end of human experience and potential. So grateful to Olivier Sandilands for his monumental work on this! 🙏🙂

1/5 The VCE Lab at Brown does vital research related to the adverse effects of meditation and psychedelics. Please RT, amplify, participate in, and help promote their ground-breaking work. Four studies of note:
1) I had this curious insight about the heart and how it has essentially no understanding of time, only immediacy, and can't seem to tell thoughts from other experiences in its reactions.
My email in box is down to 0 for the first time in a very long time. It is hard to explain how good that feels. It didn’t last for as long as it took to type this post, but those few seconds were awesome. ;)
This point about corporate interests, intelligence and sociopathy is an important addition to the very complex conversation around AI, risk, and ethics.
these paragraphs from the AI Objectives Institute whitepaper are so vital. they make a point I don't see enough: super-intelligent, misaligned optimizers are already here. they're everywhere! all over our political & economic systems (e.g. corporations)
I strongly believe the bottom line with COVID in this highly interconnected world is that we either treat it like smallpox and polio and go for total global eradication or we suffer profoundly on so many fronts from it until we do.
I have added yet another retreat’s EEG neurophenomenology dataset to this ongoing Open Science Foundation repository of Fire/Light Kasina audio/video/EEG data. The same considerations regarding ethical use, open science, etc. applies. Enjoy!
I just donated to

Just added a bunch more fire kasina EEG neurophenomenology meditation data to my open science, open source project from two recent retreats. Non-profit, non-proprietary IP analyses and open source uses welcome!
Even concrete Buddhist temple guardians in Thailand are now just sitting around playing on their cell phones. Real, unedited photos of real statue outside of real temple near Mae Hong Son.
I will be talking and answering questions on dealing with the Dark Night at The Embodiment Conference Thursday Oct 22 10am Central time. My portion of any generated revenue will go to the charity Doctors without Borders (MSF).

Very excited to have finally finished editing the audio from the Denman Island Fire Kasina FAQ project, in which a group answered about 65 common questions about the fire kasina meditation practice. Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone who helped create this! May this project help many across the globe. 🌍🌝
Please share this link to this vital study related to integrating difficult psychedelic experiences lasting more than one day with anyone who might be interested. Thanks!
4) As many spiritual systems have a tendency to put thought and the heart in opposition, it is interesting that, at least in some ways, thought is both the space ship and time-machine the heart travels on, even thought the heart’s perspective is seemingly timeless.
Really enjoyed
@JaySanguinetti
presenting his brain modulation ultrasound research related to states of mind and meditation at the Science of Consciousness Conference! Great talk!
Just finished Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness: a great book with lots of useful, applicable information for anyone involved in meditation. Horizon expanding, paradigm enhancing, and highly recommended.
When I saw Falling Down in the theater in San Francisco in 1993, we the audience started cheering and clapping soon after his fall began, and, by the end of the movie, most were on their feet cheering him on… only time in my life a movie audience did that

2) So, paradoxically, even though the heart has no understanding of time, as thoughts can be about any time, it can move freely in time, with all times that thought can conceive of being essentially the same to it.
My sharp and detailed response to Dr. Shane Lindsay's toxic and blatantly inaccurate review of MCTB from the SNB website, written in that SNB/MMA-esque style. Please don't read if you don't like harsh speech and flame wars, as that is what this is.
🔥🎁 Cheetah House needs your help! Super worthy cause! Raising money to help young meditators to deal with adverse meditation/etc. effects! Please watch, donate, and retweet!

The Inner Life of an Experienced Meditator: From Shopping Lists to Awakening, cool article in Spiritual Psychology and Counseling, by Dr. Peter M. Forster. Enjoy!
An interview with Richard, a great guy and great practitioner. May all benefit from his wisdom and kindness. He died last night of lung cancer. Gone, gone, gone beyond.
A friend just came up with this quotable quote, "Social capital is your wealth that's with other people, and financial capital is other people's wealth that's with you."
3) I am 100% sure that I am not the first to have noticed this, but it seemed particularly poignant today, so I thought I would put it out there in case it might resonate with someone.
Feeling deep empathy for those on the front lines of the pandemic. I remember how bad heavy flu seasons were and try to imagine five times that but with so many other complex problems... damn

How many times have people written and said to me that they had some blissful experience on a retreat and now their primary goal and dream in practice is “getting back there” (rather than being right here now)? Countless…

For those who post on the Dharma Overground, know that we are about to try to upgrade Liferay, the platform it runs on, so posts for the next 24 hours or so until this is done will likely get lost. Thanks for your patience as we attempt this strangely difficult Liferay upgrade.
