Very excited that I have officially started working as a Broadcast Meteorologist at
@newscentermaine
in Portland, Maine! I am so excited to start my career and couldn’t have asked for a better team to start with. So thankful for everyone <3
Last night I covered my first tornado warning on-air. We had to cut into programming. Luckily, no evidence of a tornado was found, but it is still important to take every warning seriously. So thankful for everyone behind the scenes who helped make this happen!
Wow, what a day covering post-tropical storm Lee here in Bar Harbor. This was my first set of live shots out in the field, and it was a phenomenal experience! Hope everyone is staying safe out there!
Last week I graduated with a B.S. in Meteorology and Atmospheric Science and a Minor in Journalism from Penn State. I am so grateful for everyone I met there and all I learned. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Really enjoyed being able to do all the evening and nighttime shows today! Had a lot of fun and learned a lot too! Hope everyone got to enjoy their holiday celebrations, and if your fireworks were delayed until tomorrow, check out my forecast at 11 too see how it’s shaping up. ☀️
I can hardly believe it, but today is my 1 year anniversary of working at
@newscentermaine
!! I can’t thank everyone enough for how special this year has been. I’ve learned so much, and I’m so excited to see what this new year brings! ❤️
Very excited to be doing the weather forecast for all the shows this evening! Tune in to get a preview of the weekend and how things are shaping up for early next week!
If I had a nickel for every time I’ve forecasted a tropical system since I’ve moved to Maine, I’d have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice!
Beryl is quite the historic storm. The earliest Cat 5 in the Atlantic Basin (beating Emily by 2 weeks), the first cat 5 of 2024, and the 2nd "B" named hurricane to reach a cat 5 (Beulah in 1967). Very unusual to see storms this strong so early in the season. One for the textbooks
Today is Pi day, and
#DressForSTEM
day! We are wearing purple today to support women in the sciences, because we’re still underrepresented in these fields. Love to support and encourage more women to achieve their dreams and pursue careers in STEM!! 💜💜
Had a great day off yesterday hiking Mount Megunticook! The foliage was a bit lackluster, but spending time with friends in great weather can’t be beat!
Watching the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Absolutely spectacular. Can’t wait to go again, hopefully next year!
Acadia National Park is now one of my favorite places! My best friend and I had such a great time. The views cannot be beat and Bar Harbor is such an amazing town! Already planning the next trip back!
Smoke from the Canadian wildfires over Ramapo Equestrian Center in southern New York casts an eerie orange glow. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life before. You can smell and taste the smoke as soon as you walk outside. Stay safe everyone.

Happy Spring Equinox!! 🌸 As of 11:06pm, it is officially spring! I had to celebrate the start of my favorite season by bringing in the flower crown I made with my friends earlier today - and I think it turned out great! The forecast however… a bit wintry 🥶
Today is NCM’s Coat and Toys for kids day! What a wonderful experience! It was amazing seeing how excited people were to help their community. As I like to say: All weather is good donation weather!
@newscentermaine
Merry Christmas from your night crew at
@newscentermaine
!! Hope you’re enjoying the holiday and taking time to rest and relax with friends and family!
I’ve been in Bar Harbor all morning covering now-post Tropical Storm Lee. Heavy rain and high wind gusts will continue throughout the day. Power outages have already been reported. We’ll continue to cover this storm for the rest of the day.
@newscentermaine
Happy National Weatherperson’s Day to everyone who looked at the clouds as a kid and said “I bet I could make a career out of this” 💙
#NationalWeatherpersonsDay
So happy to be back in the place that started it all, the Weather World studio! Thank you so much to
@WeatherWorldPSU
for having me guest forecast tonight and for my gracious host,
@roblydick
!!
New team alert!! After some well-deserved vacation time, I’ll be on the weekend evening shows with the amazing and talented
@samolsentv
starting in October! I also have some other fun projects in the works too… stay tuned!
So happy to join Leeann this morning on the Weekend Morning Report for the first time! Always love waking up and working with the morning crew, we had such a great time! 💗
Very happy to debut my Extended Forecast on
@WeatherWorldPSU
this past Monday! This is such an interesting segment and I’m excited to continue to work on my longer range forecasting skills!
Did my first live update today with
@jasonnappiwx
after the 6pm show to break down all the flooding and severe weather from today, and how things are shaping up for next week. You can take a look at it on the News Center Maine website!
Did you catch it? If you turn up the volume, you can hear me trip over one of the camera cords in our newsroom! Don’t worry, I’m alright, and it made for a good laugh on a Friday night!
Portland was in 96% totality today for the solar eclipse! My coworkers and I took turns outside to view it - and it was awesome!! At maximum coverage it looked like dusk and got a few degrees colder.
I have updated my weather reel! It's getting close to graduation here at Penn State and I am looking for my first position as an on-air meteorologist. If you have any information, please DM me or email me at dpo5134

Sam York was wearing a green shirt yesterday, and you know what that means: she became my weather assistant! So glad to have a little fun at 5 yesterday - here’s a little clip of our shenanigans!
@newscentermaine
Best day of the summer so far? I’ll let you decide, but it certainly was a great day in Portland! If you haven’t gotten outside today, now’s the time to do so!
#MEwx
What we know about Hurricane Lee: High surf and rip currents will impact Maine regardless of landfall location, but rain and wind intensity are highly dependent on this. Right now the trend is east of us, towards Canada, but we will know more each day.
@newscentermaine
It’s been a while since I’ve been up so early! Filling in on The Morning Report for the first time this morning with an amazing crew! Instead of the B Team, we have affectionately named ourselves “The Spare A Team”. Loved waking up with you all! 🧡
Super blue moon outside the station last night! I couldn’t get a very good picture, but it was certainly one of the brightest moons I had ever seen. I actually had to close my curtains to get some sleep!
I can’t believe my time at Weather World has come to an end. I have learned so much and can’t thank everyone here enough for making me the person I am today. Hope to visit everyone again soon. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later!
ICYMI - after 4yrs working with the show,
@danaosgoodwx
delivered her final forecast tonight. Dana (from Pearl River, NY), has been a mentor to many students & graduates tomorrow. Big things await her as she pursues a career in TV! Thank you, Dana! 💙🤍
@PSUEMS
@psumeteo
Join us in two hours for this week’s Ken Reeves Memorial Weather Briefing! This week, we’ll be joined via Zoom by meteorologist and 2023 grad,
@danaosgoodwx
. See you there!
What a breathtaking sight! Much more pink than what I saw here back in May. I’ll never stop being amazed that I can see this from (practically) my own backyard 💗💚
An impactful storm SAT bringing heavy snow and rain all day. Snow starts in W ME after midnight and overspreads the state by morning. The coast changes to rain after midday, and the interior changes to mixed precip - best chance of ice accumulation is the 3-6" contour. Stay safe.
If you were watching NCM at 11 Thursday, you may have noticed things got a little weird. The global IT outage took out our graphics systems, so I had to get creative in the weather office!
@AlexHaskellTV
and I certainly had a bit of a stressful night, but we made the most of it!
Got to play in the snow today out on the Weather Deck for the 6pm show! We got about a foot, which is the most snow I’ve seen in one day in a very long time! Excited to spend the rest of the winter making snow pancakes! ⛄️
ICYMI - we welcomed
@danaosgoodwx
as a full forecaster on tonight’s show! You’ll be seeing much more of her this summer with the PA short-range forecast.
@roblydick
@pcntv
@WPSU
Here's our first look at snowfall map for Sunday night-Monday. A tight gradient along the coast, with mostly rain in S York County. Widespread 3-6" with the mountains/foothills seeing 6-10". Keep checking back with updates as we get closer - this storm has been tricky.
A mostly quiet week ahead: variably cloudy, then Thursday we'll see some scattered snow showers, but the bulk of the storm stays south. We're watching storm

for a chance of good snow for Sunday - but that's almost a week away, so we'll keep an eye on it.

Not a fan of your winter jacket? You can trade it in for a sweatshirt over the weekend - temps will return to normal (low-to-mid 50s) over the weekend. We'll still be on the cool side next week though.
@newscentermaine

Not many days this summer where the radar has been clean! Most of us get one more dry day (except N. Maine), then a front moves in Friday, setting us up for showers and storms. Temperatures will remain below average until this weekend. Enjoy the sunshine!
@newscentermaine

Are you ready for this year’s Beach to Beacon 10k? We are!
@samanthayorkME
and I - along with
@AaronMylerWX
and David - will be announcing Saturday morning. Keep an eye out for us at the starting and finish lines!

Congratulations to all the newly elected Executive Board members for the 2023 calendar year! We’re so proud of all of you, you’re gonna do amazing things for our club!
“Snowtober” as it’s also called was a major event in my life that made me want to be a meteorologist. Seeing snow cancel my favorite holiday was devastating. I had to know why. Over 10 years later I’m doing exactly that! I’ll never forgive, but that storm made me who I am today!
For 2 years in a row, October 29 was a memorable day for our area.
For more info on "White Halloween" w/ a map of totals across the area, see our report here:
For more info on Sandy:
Spring? Is that you? Nope, it's a post-Halloween trick! Temperatures today were above average, reaching the 60s in some spots! Winter is right around the corner though, after the cold front passes, it's right back to chilly!

My heart goes out to the 3 lives lost in the crash. It’s a grim reminder of just how dangerous the weather can be. We stand with OU Meteorology and will support them as best we can in this tragic time. My thoughts and love are with all those impacted. <3
We are pleased to welcome
@danaosgoodwx
to the show as a forecaster! Dana is from Pearl River, NY and has been helping out behind-the-scenes with graphics/directing and on-air as a host for the past year. You’ll be seeing more of her on the show this summer!

Beautiful sunset outside the Bronx yesterday taken on the Metro North train! Lovely way to end a nice trip to the city, as well as the cleanest air NY has seen in days.
#NYwx
Congratulations Dr. Stensrud! He taught such a great mesoscale meteorology class at Penn State and will make a great president of the AMS. So well deserved.
📢 The 2024 AMS President-Elect and Council Election result is now in!
2024 President-Elect: David J. Stensrud
New Councilors: Gina M. Eosco, Andrew Humphrey, Ying-Hwa (Bill) Kuo, and Clifford F. Mass
Thanks to all the candidates for their commitment and ongoing service!
A little (lot) of rain couldn’t put a damper on this year’s TD Beach to Beacon 10k!
@AaronMylerWX
and I had a great time announcing at the finish line with
@newscentermaine
!! Congrats to all the runners, we loved celebrating with you!
Yesterday I had the honor of presenting at the Maine Youth Climate Symposium at Bowdoin College! I focused my talk on the differences between weather and climate, and why going back to basics - the definition of these words - can help in the fight against climate change denial.
