I think blastoise is the coolest starter, but his sprite in Red/Blue looks like the Michelin Man (though his original sprite in the Japanese Green version was spot-on). I based mine on the best sprite of all- quadruped blastoise from Silver. #pokemon #ドット絵 #pixelart

No single pixels! Or what I call the Greek method, introduced by @Helm_ll and most prominently seen in the work of @castpixel . Eliminating all 1x1 pixels is an exercise every pixel artist should try, even a veteran artist will learn a lot about pixel clusters.

The first lines/shapes/colors are always crude, the beauty of pixel art is you can easily and continually refine all of this as you work. With smaller sprites, the difficulty is fitting all the info you want on the canvas- knowing how to nestle pixel clusters is key here.
