I am from Turkey, and I can safely say that this symbol has been used by the fascist right whilst chanting fascist slogans and doing massacres. Hope this helps. Thanks for not caring at all about the minority groups and victims in Turkey who have been wronged by those fascists.
The most fucked up thing about all this is the fact that some European “elites” are deciding on behalf of Turkish people and culture about what can be racist & offensive within the scope of the Turkish culture.
In a way, this is a great example of orientalism.

Bu argüman biraz can sıkmaya başladı. Hayvanların hakkını savunmakla insan haklarını savunmak ayrık kümeler değil, ikisi de yapılabilir. Savunmasız bir yaratığın hakkını korumak insan hakları ihlali yapıldığında daha az ses çıkarmak demek değil.
Tired of people based in the Western world mincing their words when it comes to Erdoğan. By not calling him a dictator, you are severely underestimating the human rights abuses he has committed towarda many diffferent groups for all these years.
Disrespecting the opponent and their fans vs. expressing pride in one’s nationality.

As someone who would have to pay hundreds of pounds just for a couple of days visit to the UK (even for academic purposes), I would say that this is a huge privilege that people with this privilege wouldn't even be aware of.

A jury read these messages from my rapist and still not everyone on that jury believed me. Even with watertight evidence women are not believed. This is the climate we live in, and yet we still ask “why didn’t she report”?

I hope everyone in the Western world supporting Erdoğan sees that in his first speech after the elections, Erdoğan immediately emphasised his fight against LGBTQI+.

It is racist to suggest that racial groups have different experiences? Well, good to know that all those anti-racist movements throughout history were actually not necessary because whites and non-whites were equal to begin with.

Exploitation of the sufferings of minorities, especially in this land where the sufferings of others have always been ignored, is inexcusable.

It is striking how Erdoğan, a self-declared leader of all the Muslims around the world, has never made a public statement on the way Muslims are treated in India either.

For real. Not to mention that if you are from third-world countries, you can't even make a settlement visa application for the UK or the EU unless you already have a job offer before moving. These people don't understand what it is like to have limitations on your mobility.

Immigrants of non-European origin receive fewer job interview invites in the Finnish labour market (just by their names) even if all the other qualifications are same. Such an important work.
New online, evidence from Finland that applicants of immigrant origin, especially non-European, receive fewer job interview invites even if they possess identical language proficiency, education and vocational diplomas.

Another word should also be said for Muslim world in general who see Erdoğan as the 'decoloniser' and their saviour against Western world. Excellent thread 👇🏼
What we locals want is “freedom,” which can’t be sacrificed, as we are told, to living under an autocracy just because Erdogan’s brinkmanship is packaged by a certain brand of Muslim academics as “decolonization.”

My contract finally arrived. It took a threat to quit unless it happened, and 10 years of being undervalued and underpaid at 5 different institutions. This moment is not one of joy. It's one of relief and finally having the security to actually rage against precarity. THREAD
