hi, all, an opinion piece that ran on our site yesterday did not go through our standard review process and was unfair to both our readers and our staff. that post has since been updated to reflect our standards, and we'll ensure that this doesn't happen again in the future.
Since becoming TechCrunch's EIC, my top priority has been to hire people who can make our exceptional staff even stronger. I was thrilled when
@sokane1
joined us. I'm elated to say that
@mattrosoff
is now headed here, too.
if you were just at a busy intersection in sf and saw a woman trip in her rain boots and fall flat on the ground before springing up and waving to you like nbd, that was maybe me.
I talked with
@theryanking
Friday about his move from CEO to executive chair of Bolt. "The operating and scaling headspace is very different than the creative headspace. I've played both until now. This allows me to stay in the creative headspace."
Hey folks, I'm sure a lot of you on here know
@SarahPerezTC
, an amazing writer, single mother and human. She suffered a total loss house fire this morning. She and her daughter are safe but if you can help at all please do so.
glad many read my piece on cloud kitchens this weekend. fwiw, this short film on what shared kitchens will do to "middle class" restaurants, including interviews w marc canter (canter's deli), eric greenspan, and many others tells much more of the story.
It's a Big Deal. Matt has been running news teams for decades; he knows how to get great work out of great people. (I have talked with some of these people -- the accolades are endless.) We could not be happier that he's joining our team in a couple of weeks. Welcome
@mattrosoff
!
friends/strangers, just an fyi if you're online and have kids or are a magic fan. we just watched an hour-long zoom show hosted by
@Justin_Willman
and it was a sheer joy. highly recommend. next show is at 3 pm PST. (and justin, if you see this, thank you!)
Please note that if you received an email purportedly from us about a voicemail or otherwise looking for information, it was not us (which you probably figured out but in case not) and you should definitely delete this. 🎉🎉
@semil
@StrictlyVC
i hear they are also updating their janky website years after a friend suggested (many times) that they do this.:) (i hear it will not be amazing, but better.)
@hunterwalk
@danprimack
@dkhos
I mean, these are questions he should have anticipated and equating that self-driving incident with a gruesome, calculated murder was obvs a massive mistake, but bigger picture, what can he do? (legitimate q.) how does he shake them if they don’t/won’t sell?
Interview with Bahtiyar Duysak, the Twitter contractor who deactivated Trump's account earlier this month, who calls the incident a "mistake" (
