I know this part of realignment has been beat into the ground, but it’s just unbelievable that athletes playing soccer, softball, baseball etc. from Rutgers and Maryland are going to fly 2,500+ miles for regular season games at UW and Oregon (and vice versa)
So excited to share that I’m joining the San Francisco Chronicle as a sports reporting intern after my graduation in June!
I’m thrilled to cover Bay Area sports for
@SportingGreenSF
next summer. So grateful for the opportunity and everyone who helped me get here.
After months of hard work, The Daily’s 50 Years of Title IX issue is finally here. I couldn’t be more thrilled to spearhead this edition honoring the history of women’s athletics at Northwestern.
Beyond excited to share that I’m the next sports editor at
@thedailynu
! Can’t wait to get to work and lead our coverage of Northwestern athletics this fall.
Today is my last day at the Chronicle. Being a (semi) baseball beat writer here was amazing. I’m so grateful for the welcoming folks I worked with at the Coliseum & beyond.
I’ll be around for coverage of the A’s final homestand before leaving the Bay at the end of September.
CW: This story contains mention of hazing, sexual assault and suicidal ideation.
BREAKING: A former Northwestern football player is alleging that some of the hazing conduct that took place on the team involved coerced sexual acts. 🧵
There are many journalists with expertise on both these leagues, which are incredibly fun and successful. AI can’t interview people and tell compelling stories but those journalists can!
Using generative AI technology, ESPN now offers game recap stories for

It’s hard to convey how much going here meant to a kid from small-town Florida. I’m so grateful for the amazing friends and mentors I met here, and for all the life-changing opportunities I’ve had. Thank you, Northwestern.
Time for some personal news: I’m joining the Tampa Bay Times as an intern in June!
I’m so excited and grateful for the opportunity. Can’t wait to report for
@TBTimes_Sports
and cover some of the most iconic teams in my home state ☀️
Izzy Scane knew she wanted to play for
@NULax
since she first picked up a stick. Now, she’s one of the best to ever play for the Wildcats. I spoke with Izzy, her family and coaches to learn more about the person behind the player and her journey to NU.
It’s my last day at the AJC! So grateful to have spent the fall with such an amazing staff covering all of Atlanta’s pro sports + Georgia and Georgia Tech.
It’s been a great six months of interning in Atlanta and Tampa, but it’s time to wrap up my senior year at Northwestern🫶🏻

Just in disbelief that, in the past two years, Northwestern has completely mishandled an AD search and a massive hazing scandal. Totally, utterly disappointing.
thank your local women in sports today!! No seriously, I’m so lucky to have worked with and covered so many amazing women in sports this past year :)

I grew up watching my mom run Boston and my dad produce marathons. So grateful for their support and the best friends in the world for coming out today 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Took some grad photos where I spent hours typing with freezing fingers and praying it wouldn’t rain on my laptop. Thanks for all the fun,
@NU_Sports
(and I can’t wait to see what Big Ten football looks like at Martin!).

Today’s my first day at the Coliseum, where I’m going to be spending ~a lot~ of the summer as the Chronicle’s primary A’s writer. Couldn’t be more excited.
For
@thedailynu
: Regardless of whether he knew about the hazing or not, Pat Fitzgerald lost his locker room and failed his responsibilities. It’s time for him to step down.
~earnest 2023 recap post~
This year changed, challenged and inspired me as a journalist in innumerable ways. I’m so grateful for all the incredible opportunities I had and stories I told.

athletic director Michael Kelly said the American Athletic Conference has discussed expansion after several schools announced their departure from the PAC-12 last week.
Last day here.
Couldn’t be more grateful to spend the summer in my home state learning from the best. I have one more story on the way, but for now: see you later,
@TB_Times

Reflected on how meaningful covering Northwestern women’s sports was in my
@thedailynu
senior column. It changed my career path, gave me some of my best college memories and great friends. All I can say is thank you.

New for

: four current and former Northwestern cheerleaders alleged safety concerns and a culture of body shaming within the program. They also alleged that NU Athletics hasn’t adequately addressed their concerns. More:
So I finished my Northwestern degree in mid-March (though it’s not being conferred until June – quarter system things). I’ve freelanced, relaxed at home in Florida and traveled. It’s been the best! I’m returning to Evanston soon before grad, but I’m so grateful for this break :)
Kicked off the school year with a football win in Dublin. Closed it out with a lacrosse win in Cary, North Carolina.
Grateful for all the fun with fellow sports reporters at NU + everyone who engaged with my work this past year. Up next: exams, then summer at the

While the 568 Presidents’ Group is in the news, I’m thinking about one of the member institutions (not NU) that offered me no financial aid because, according to their fin-aid office, my parents could just sell our house to afford for me to attend their institution …
My last day here for
@TBTimes_Sports
⚾️ grateful for everyone who made my time at the Trop so awesome.
(And I still have a week left at the Times, so you’re not done with me yet, Tampa Bay)
One year ago today. I’ve been lucky to do a lot of really cool journalism this past year, but this remains my proudest moment. Our stories about the history of women’s sports at NU & the failures of Title IX are as relevant as ever.
After months of hard work, The Daily’s 50 Years of Title IX issue is finally here. I couldn’t be more thrilled to spearhead this edition honoring the history of women’s athletics at Northwestern.
“I got chills then and I get chills now thinking about it.”
The Bay Bridge series is nearing an end. Current & former A’s including Sean Murphy, Miguel Tejada, Mark Kotsay and more spoke about playing in the rivalry ⬇️

coach Kelly Amonte Hiller has never been afraid to dream big and think outside of the box. This mindset has trickled down to her players, and the sport of college lacrosse as a whole.

Does anyone remember that one week in 2020 when Northwestern men’s basketball, women’s basketball and football were all ranked in the top 25?? Truly wild to reflect on
Covering a generational player like Izzy Scane has been one of the most exciting parts of my past few years of journalism. Profiled her a couple years ago — here are some of my favorite anecdotes from that story.
Something the history major in me loved: creating a timeline of the biggest moments in women’s sports history at Northwestern with

In 2022, I:
- filed stories from places like the halls of Congress and Dublin
- covered football for the first time
- reported on college lacrosse for one of my long-time favorite publications
- honored the history of Title IX at The Daily & USA Lacrosse Magazine
On to 2023!
I knew how much Belichick loved lacrosse (his daughter Amanda coaches at Holy Cross), but I didn’t know he had ties to Kelly Amonte Hiller until I found this GQ story (well worth a read!):
Set out to write a story about Hailey Rhatigan and Molly Laliberty’s transition to playing for
@NULax
. It turned into one about friendship, and their gratitude to be able to continue playing the game they love.
For

I have covered a lot of Northwestern athletics — including that come from behind lacrosse loss in the Final Four last year. None of that compares to what’s happening at Lakeside right now
Not that there is anything wrong with women or young girls enjoying or being a part of the sport but baseball is a quintessential father and son pastime.
