I chose this RM30 nasi lemak over dishes like pasta carbonara and seafood aglio olio. Why? Look at that: SEVEN individually made components: nasi, sambal, ayam, udang, bilis, kacang, telur. That’s work that easily takes 2hrs. carbonara takes 15mins. Let’s value our heritage.

@fozmeadows The Chinese Bible translates ‘Silas’ as ‘西拉’, pronounced ‘see-la’. But mandarin has so many homophones, you could also go with variations that sound the same but have different meanings, like ‘希菈’, where the first character means ‘hope’.

My dinner today - bayam goreng w/ garlic (approx 180 cals), pecel ayam (~240 cals), fried egg (~80cals) = about 500 cals, high in fiber, protein, iron, magnesium etc. no need poke bowl / avocado / baby spinach ya :) Eat local! Support our farmers!

@lfc_eddie Aware of that. But there are VERY few places that do carbonara properly with pecorino romano / parmigiano reggiano and guanciale :) it’s mostly poorly executed pasta alfredo with lots of cream. What makes true carbonara expensive here is the imported ingredients, not the labor.
