Recruiter: what’s your dream job?
Me: hybrid engineer and chef, crazy I know
Recruiter: I think I can make that happen
Me: ?!
Recruiter: our ops team uses Chef
Me: no, I want to cook breakfast & lunch for the office, then code
Me: hello, are you still there?
@gbrl_dick
imagine Churchill waking up, checking his whoop sleep metrics, mixing some athletic greens into his tea, then heading off to his f45 workout
@jessegenet
I largely disagree as there's nuance:
- bi-weekly is fine for trusted high-performers
- any 1:1 is a waste of time if you're not doing them right
- you shouldn't have more than 8-10 direct reports so the scaling context is irrelevant (unless you're scaling improperly)
@ryandawidjan
ahh because working at a desk pod under halogen lights in an overly air-conditioned building is so much more fun because you can play foosball at lunch and have a beer after work?
@Jason
Jason if you listen closely this is about commuting and remote work. She has a point. Forcing people to spend 2 hours a day in a car or on a train sucks. I’m glad this generation is pushing back.
@bchesky
from a superhost:
1. Add-on to have the fridge/pantry stocked when guests arrive
2. Product placement opportunities for hosts (eg give me 3 free Casper mattresses and I'll put a flyer on the coffee table)
3. Event venue and co-working office booking
My son and his friends are going through *that stage* of teenage boyhood
(they just watched fight club for the first time and are acting like it’s the greatest movie ever)
@roshanpateI
✅ Doesn’t spend extravagantly
✅ Has a pre-seed Peloton prototype (probably invested)
✅ Stays up on news and macro trends
✅ Hydrated and caffeinated

"Both my wife and I fundamentally believe in public education"
I also believe in public education. I believe it exists and I believe California is really bad at it.
@ChrisJBakke
i would pay a counselor to convince my last 2 kids to go to cheap state school
how much is the "San Jose State is basically an Ivy" package?
@growing_daniel
"and then he wanted to put a cache in front of it and I was like 'brayden, that's a premature optimization we need to be focused on shipping features', I bet he hasn't even read patrick collison's 'fast' blog post"
@zeta_globin
the New York Mets baseball team wear orange and blue as a nod to the Giants (orange) and Dodgers (blue) who both left New York for California in 1958
have a nice day
@maggiekb1
- TV shows are longer than social videos/posts
- We had to call or visit our friends to socialize
- Phones at school likely a big culprit now
- Some tv shows were actually educational(?)
- No pressure from social media then
- No constant hyper-awareness of mental health issues
@anothercohen
We did a Disney cruise 8 years ago when the kids were 8, 10, 12 and 22 and everyone but me still says it was the best vacation we ever had
@jaiyagill
tell them your roommate lost her key and start looking around on the ground ... then mention its the key to her smart wallet, whatever that is
@Vires_Num3ris
@ryandawidjan
commuting is bad for mental health (among other things), so framing it as a worthy effort to improve your mental health in some grander scheme is silly
@anothercohen
i see both his hands: is this 1st inning or post-game?
why does he have a room with 2 beds?
is the fitbit on to track calorie burn?
so many questions
@Noahpinion
This has to be fake or inaccurate. Mensa’s official test doesn’t give you an IQ score. Only if you’ve qualified for membership or not (source: I’ve taken it)
@michelletandler
These are (likely) a new form of EEOC questions, which many companies are required to report on–and the answers to which are not visible to the hiring manager.
The goal is to prevent discrimination, not enable it.
(source: I work in the "questions on job applications" space
@BontaHill
Both things can be part of the problem
Also players who are drafted (curry and klay) don’t have a choice in the matter so your warriors argument is fairly weak–KD doesn’t join if they weren’t already winning
