One of my favorite lines/parts of the film is when Roger talks about the only two people that he knows will draw out his emotions as he gets ready to retire from tennis

It’s weird, Arthur Ashe stadium seems sorta subdued for this Tiafoe-Shelton match. I assume it’s because they don’t know who to root for. It’s ironic because one American on that court and the crowd would be insane. But add a second American to it and the crowd’s like “……… uh”
Hey tennis channel, your feed was down on mobile for the second half of this match and I am once again begging you to invest in your digital infrastructure because you have a near monopoly on tennis coverage and I have no other choice but to watch your network (:
Happy birthday to the most influential Spanish philosopher of the 21st century, Rafael Nadal, who famously posed the question, “whats happen when the tennis is in the road?” With that one question, he forever altered the trajectory of history. We celebrate his legacy!
Medvedev drama is by FAR the best drama in the ATP. Danya dropping the first set, yelling at the umpire about how slow the court is, and then strolling leisurely across the court to the bathroom to make the point as the umpire yells at him is brilliant. It’s what we need
Regardless of how you feel about zv*rev’s guilt, the man has not been found innocent and still has open and credible abuse allegations against him. To allow him to continue playing is one thing, but to allow him to assume a position of authority is another thing entirely
I love this photo so much because it’s a bunch of posh, buttoned up British county club folks surrounding this sweaty, unkempt, battle worn Spanish kid standing right in the center like he just finished disrupting the essence of Wimbledon
Arthur Ashe at the 1975 US Open, played at Forest Hills. Why this pic?
I was just turning twelve at the time, and needed a hero in my life. Arthur fit the bill, on court and off. Calling it a night my friends, tomorrow’s a new day, and a new U.S. Open 🙏🎾❤️
I’m not even on the court but just watching NK from home makes me feel bad. I mean, I feel genuinely unsettled. He has self-aggrandized to the point where he doesn’t seem to care how he affects other people as long as things go his way. It’s like watching an exhibition in abuse
If an active WTA player is saying “this is representative of the gender disparity in treatment by tournaments” then maybe there’s something to it and you should stop the knee jerk defensiveness. Sittin here acting like this is simply about a cake and not about a broader issue…
I’m surprised by this reaction after this gesture!
1. Carlos had just won his match to reach the final
2. He was playing on centre court
3. The tournament is played in Spain, even though it is an international event
PS: I hope Rune wasn’t also upset by his treatment 😜
There’s no doubt in my mind that the driving force behind the Proud Boys is overcompensation for an inadequacy in some aspect of their lives that is likely no fault of the people/ideas they rally so violently against. They project their shortcomings on others cus they’re weak.
It boggles my mind that his conclusion isn’t that the sport needs to do a better job of promoting and supporting doubles, but rather that we should remove a fundamental part of the sport and force hundreds of professional doubles players out of a job
Opelka backs up his stance that ATP should get rid of doubles: “It's hard to argue with facts & math. If they present a point to me at ATP 250 & 500 level showing they bring in the money that costs to have them there, let alone prize money, perfect. But the numbers point to me”
I think I’m a little bit in love with Elena Rybakina. I think she’s an angel? A fairy princess? A mythical queen? I feel like she’s a kind of ethereal figure who would appear to people in dreams
Hosting a party rn at the club for Rafa’s birthday, everyone’s invited!! But fair warning, this guy is here dancing like a maniac, idk what his deal is
Shows you what he seems to believe is his role in the tennis landscape. He sees himself as a disrupter of the establishment. But his disruptions haven’t pushed the sport forward… they have no meaning. It’s been trouble for trouble’s sake, not trouble for a cause à la Lewis
I mostly ignore this petulant clown now, but the fact that his cookie-cutter looking podcast is named Good Trouble—a phrase indelibly linked to Rep. John Lewis, a civil rights lion who dedicated his life to uplifting others not shallow self-absorption—makes me sick to my stomach.
The great thing about being a Coco Gauff fan is that no matter what happens when she plays, you remember that she’s so young and will have sooo many opportunities throughout her career in the future. She’s crazy talented and clearly getting better. Coco nation has a bright future
Tennis Channel cut away right after Ons won the final so they could promo TC Live where they’re now talking about the men’s semifinal. They actually called Ons winning the “second headline of the day” after Alcaraz’s match. It’s not just organizers failing women’s tennis.
It’s classic tennis shooting itself in the foot that the Jabeur vs Pegula Women’s Final wasn’t the 1st match of the day. Ridiculous scheduling by Madrid organizers to sandwich this in between the 2 ATP Semifinals.
I was so sure when I got these hats that by wearing one in public all the time I would’ve met another rafan in the wild by now. Starting to think I’m the only tennis fan in a 20 mile radius and I am Sick Of It
Every time I watch coco play, I am mind blown by her court coverage. I mean it’s ridiculous. She’s so fast, there’s no one else who could be winning some of the points she is. My commentator said “70% of the earth is covered by water, the rest is covered by coco gauff” lol
@ravensbrace
I would argue that not only does 13 Reasons Why not do anything for anyone... it actually may be a very irresponsible portrayal of mental health aka it actually could be worse than not doing anything. In my opinion. So to keep 13RW at the expense of ODAAT seems like a BAD choice
NK screaming at his player box because they’re not doing or saying the right thing at the right time is maybe the most uncomfortable thing in all of tennis. I cannot understand why they put up with it and how NK feels comfortable doing that so publicly
