Welcome to AZ. Today a pharmacist denied the MTX refill for my adolescent patient. She's on 5 mg/wk to prevent AHCA Ab production. MTX denied purely because she's a female, barely a teenager. Livid! No discussion, just a denial. Now to fight for what's best for this pt.

@EM_RESUS As an intern, did the admit H&P for 50 something y.o. w/syncopal episode. Asked code status. Said DNR. Confirmed x 3 as seemingly healthy. 2 hours later ICU called a code. Had to stop it as was my admit. Autopsy = diffuse metastatic ca. That patient knew!

@MiscSusan Intern year, 1997, one of our ER docs was getting "dropped" randomly by the state board as part of his return to work after rehab. He was so open w/us 4 interns. Told us 1 in 4 would have an issue. His courage was inspiring. I pray for your love. May he recover safely 🙏❤

Pt says feeling better since Rheumatology visited. Surgery asks why. Pt says because they held my hand. Surgery graps her hand 🤣🤣🤣

@julie_hovgaard Methotrexate is the medication. It's used to treat many different rheumatic conditions. It is also used for the treatment of ectopic pregnancy so is considered an abortifacient medication (drug causing abortion)

@ElizabethGannon Friday a judge overturned the injunction against a law from when AZ was a territory and now all abortions are banned unless the mother is dying. This is part of the ramifications of that change. The med was filled without any problems last month.

@TraumaSoapBoxes It was amazing to see all the off duty first responders start helping. Even I ended up treating a gun shot laceration and removed shrapnel as a rheumatologist. I only saw EMS set up by Tropicana treating the walking injured but the whole scene was chaotic.

@DGlaucomflecken I was a first year Rheum fellow. PD had me see a toddler for him. I'd done a Peds rotation as an osteopathic resident (required for IM) so not freaked out. Walked out of exam saying 'that was fun'. Then every pediatric rheum pt was referred to us & I lost my white coat!
